Chapter 1
"Melissa, if you don't get out of bed right now you are riding the bus to school!" I yelled to my sister.
I go through this every morning. I wake up, I get dressed, I make my dad coffee, and I wake my sister up.
"I was already up thank you very much." She whipped around the corner and popped bread into the toaster. I laughed at her when I looked at her.
"You're still wearing pajama shorts." I smirked as she went back to her room to change while cursing under her breath.
"Good morning, is my co-" I gave my dad his travel mug with his coffee, three sugars and just enough creamer to change the color.
"And is your si-" Melissa came back out to get her toast wearing jeans this time. I knew he was going to ask about my sister being awake.
"Dad, we go through this every single morning. You should know by now." I smiled.
"Well smarty pants, where are my-" I cut him off again.
"keys" I gave him his keys and he gave Melissa and I a kiss on our foreheads.
After my dad left Melissa and I were out the door within five minutes. Every morning I also pick up my best friends Nicholas and Lyndsay, but I picked up Lyndsay first because she lived closer.
"Hey don't forget your AP US book!" I yelled to her when I saw her. She ran back inside and ran back out and hopped into the backseat.
"Honestly, I don't know what I would do without you chocolate chip." She said out of breath.
" I thought we agreed to drop the name?"
"No, you asked, I refused. Therefore there was no agreement." She laughed.
"Well then I guess that means I never agreed to stop calling you egg." I smirked.
"Okay I'm done."
We got to Nicholas' house and he was already outside looking at his watch, holding his AP US book.
"Did you guys know you are 2 minutes and 37 seconds late?"
"Yes Nicholas, Lyndsay forgot her AP US book."
"Why do you have such weird friends?" Melissa asked as she turned up the radio.
When we got to the school Melissa immediately got out of the car to go see her friends and get away from me and my friends.
Lyndsay, Nicholas , and I walked to first period. Lyndsay and I had Spanish together and Nicholas had French right across the hall. Everything about Spanish was normal, we took notes for 30 minutes and just spent the last 10 minutes talking. The only thing that was a little off was that Andrew was not in class. He is always in school, but everyone gets sick sometimes so no one thought anything of it.
The bell rang and we were off to second period. I didn't have second period with Lyndsay or Nicholas, but it was English so I was okay. English is my favorite class, always has and always will be.
"Has anyone seen Andrew?" My teacher asked.
"He wasn't in Spanish." I said. She just nodded and continued to teach.
The rest of the day went by pretty quickly. Ninth period I had with both Lyndsay and Nicholas. When the bell rang we went to the car to wait for Melissa.
"Hey I'm going to Destiny's. I'll be home at six so we can get our Chinese." Melissa called.
Lyndsay was texting and I knew exactly who she was texting. It was Jack, her forbidden boyfriend.
"Can I stay at your place for a little while? Jack wants to take me out and you know how my mom feels."
"Yeah sure. Nicholas, are you coming too?"
"Can we do our homework?"
"Yes. We can also just get a movie and hang out like normal 17 year olds."
"Taylor, you know we are anything but normal 17 year olds." Lyndsay and I laughed.
When we got to the house Lyndsay immediately went into my fridge to get orange juice and Nicholas went straight to the living room to start his homework. I went to my room and changed into an oversized t-shirt and shorts.
"What do y'all want to watch?"
"Turn on Kevin Hart." Lyndsay said with her mouth full of barbeque chips.
We watched Kevin Hart and did our homework for a good 2 hours before Jack came to get Lyndsay.
"Nicholas, do you need a ride home?" I asked him.
"Actually I was meaning to ask you if I could sleep here. My mom is having another one of those nights."
"Yeah, you can sleep in my dad's bed. He's on a business trip."
"Thanks chocolate chip." I scowled at him.
It was now 6 and as Melissa said she came home so she could order our Chinese. And just like every Friday night I get general tso chicken, Melissa gets sesame chicken, we get two orders of crab ragoons, and one thing of fried noodles. And since Nicholas was here he ordered vegetable lo mein and sweet and sour chicken. The guy on the phone said we had to wait 45 minutes, so we put on the show One Tree Hill. Nicholas and I sat on the sofa while Melissa sat in the chair. The door bell rang after only 20 minutes.
"Wow, they're never early!" I quickly hopped off the couch and ran to the door.
But when I opened the door, it was not the delivery guy.
