Summary

"What do we have?", squatting down to inspect the clawed corpse in front of me. Detective Stuart, a very skittish type of man or so I presume that's what he is. I'm still not very sure of it myself when he joined this last year. "Male, with severe injuries that look to be claw marks from some type of animal". "Hmm, an animal you say? it's hard to believe an animal would just brutally maul someone to death and just leave the corpse and not finish it off." "Yes, that is what it looks like and clearly no human did this, this looks like it was done by a mo... monster..." detective Stuart said, still visibly spooked from the corpse lying in the road. Inspecting on a closer look I notice something is wrong with the male's face, it's so dark outside that it's hard to fully see what it is I'm looking at. Looking closer the face seems to be disformed or like... and it may seem hard to believe but turning into something but didn't fully finish. This seems to be more than just a case I'll have to dig deeper to find out more. Continue this journey between the detective and the mysterious case that just popped up and what will come from it or who will come from it. **Disclaimer** This is just for fun if you don't like it then don't read it. And I don't want any hate or Negative Nancys in the comments. **Again, don't read if you don't like it**.

The Marks

Screeeech!!!!! is the sound of the tires stopping against the wet slippery streets of Mobile, Alabama. Rotting flesh is the first thing I smell stepping out of my Range Rover. When taking this case, I would have never imagined this is what I would be dealing with, nor have I ever seen anything like it before in my 25 years on this god forsaken earth.

"Hmm, an animal you say? it's hard to believe an animal would just brutally maul someone to death and just leave the corpse and not finish it off."

"Yes, that is what it looks like and clearly no human did this, this looks like it was done by a mo... monster..." detective Stuart said, still visibly spooked from the corpse lying in the road.

Inspecting on a closer look I notice something is wrong with the male's face, it's so dark outside that it's hard to fully see what it is I'm looking at. Looking closer the face seems to be disformed or like... and it may seem hard to believe but turning into something but didn't fully finish. What's even stranger is that this body is in the middle of nowhere...who even reported this to the police...does anyone live this far out from the city? I smell something else beside the rotting flesh in the air but can't pinpoint where its coming from, I put my curiousness elsewhere and focus on the now. I look back to Stuart.

"Maybe you're exaggerating a bit there Stuart" I said. Even though I know what I'm looking at doesn't seem real, I don't want my hunches to be right about what I think it is. Being in this line of work you come across and see all sorts of things that I shouldn't even be able to comprehend but it seems I do for some odd reason as if I was meant to know all these things.

"Maybe you're right, anyways, are we done here? let's go back to the office to write the report. This place is giving me the hibbie jibbies" Stuart announced so practically the whole world could hear him as I'm standing over a corpse.

"Sure" I said, still not fully trusting my gut because its normally always right about situations. but I don't want to listen to it this time. I get back into my Range Rover and head back to the office.

I cursed slightly as heavy rainfall lands on my windows as I'm driving back to the office. I don't know why I decided to choose this state of all of states to work here knowing damn well what this gloomy weather does to me. Something deep down was just telling me to go here, like a magnetic pull of some kind, and this is just where I end up thanks to my brain telling me so. So, thank you brain, you've been truly helpful. That's something about me you'll come to love or come to hate. My sarcasm.

Working in one of the wettest cities in the US can make your life somewhat gloomy during the wintertime, especially knowing my past makes it ten times harder. Most days I just want to sleep and not even deal with people but knowing what job I have doesn't really give me that privilege. Nowadays certain cases have been popping up all round the metro causing people to go into panic and who to leave to clean up the mess. ME. That's because I'm the detective that has worked all-round the states solving cases that should have been solved and wasn't even that hard in the first place. But people are just dumb, I guess. Nothing I can do about that.

Arriving back to the office I head straight to forensics to identify the male victim. "Who is he" I ask walking into the room without looking at Derek. I walk up to the half sheet covered body, waiting for Derek the forensics scientist to answer.

"Funny that you mentioned that. I have no idea because this man has no fingerprints, no DNA that's from any substance on this earth" Derek stated excitedly. Kinda freaking me out. "Along with something weird that is in the blood. It looks like black lines, but I thought maybe the victim was on drugs, so I ran a few tests, and the victim wasn't on any drugs, so there really is something else in the blood" Derek states.

"So... what does that mean exactly? I said looking at the blood sample he has sitting on the table.

"It means exactly what I said this man or whatever he is isn't from here...like this planet...Earth. You get it? he said rather enthusiastically. Getting excited for whatever reason.

See this is exactly why I didn't want to listen to my gut. I knew even before this case something was going to happen today that I would have to solve just because that's just who I am.

"What you're saying is that this case is no ordinary case and were dealing with something much bigger" I said feeling a little lightheaded having to think about all of this nonsense.

"Thats exactly what I'm saying, isn't this great...a new specimen to research on." Derek says cheerily.

"Don't get your hopes up Derek, this is clearly something we never seen before, so don't go putting yourself in danger to get research. Something's are better left unknown." I said taking one last look at the body and walking out. Now it makes sense...this is why I was called here to solve this mystery...I think.... who knows just leaves more work for me that I have to deal with. Who knows who or what I may encounter tomorrow after this incident occurred.

Until Next Time.
