Prologue
The night was black as ebony, broken only by the twinkling stars that sparkled across the restless sea. The waves crashed against the pier of the small island where the mighty shipping company stood, a monument to the legacy Adrian Winter had inherited from his father. The walls of the villa, which sat majestically on a hill overlooking the harbor, seemed as unshakable as the resolve he had built over the past few weeks.
Adrian stood at the window of his study, lost in thought as he gazed out over the vast sea. His hands clasped a glass of whiskey, but his mind was on the mysterious clues he had recently received about his father's true business. Dark secrets seemed to lurk behind the gleaming facade of the shipping company. The threats looming over him seemed as vast as the depths of the ocean. His mind told him to give up and leave the legacy to itself. But his heart... How could he abandon the last memory of his father?
High above, beyond the clouds, she felt the call. Aurelia was an Angel of Light whose soul had bathed in the purity of the heavens for centuries. But tonight her task was clear - she had to descend to earth to protect the heart of a man whose life was on the brink. His enemies were not only human, but steeped in shadows that had been nurtured for generations.
With a soft breath, Aurelia made her wings glow before she descended. The cool night air enveloped her as she neared her destination. It was unusual to descend from the warm, light-filled purity of the sky to the cold, power-hungry earth. Yet she knew she had no choice.
Down in the mansion, Adrian suddenly felt a hint of warmth, as if the atmosphere around him had changed. An unknown presence was in the room with him, and though he couldn't see it, he felt it deep inside. Then, like a fleeting memory of a long-lost dream, she appeared before him.
Aurelia, her golden blonde hair falling to her shoulders and shimmering in the moonlight, suddenly stood before him. Her eyes, as deep as the unfathomable stars, rested on him.
"Who are you?" His voice was hoarse, but he couldn't take his eyes off her.
"I am here to protect you, Adrian," she replied softly, her words like a promise that transcended time. "The shadows of your past are closing in, and I will do everything I can to make sure you don't fall."
Adrian knew his life had changed forever at that moment. But what he didn't know was that this beautiful, mysterious woman was more than just his protector. She was a being from another world, sent to save him from the dark forces - and maybe, just maybe, to win his heart.
