Chapter 1: The Unseen Connection

Jiwon (지원) was known across Seoul not just for her impressive business empire but also for her ethereal beauty and calm demeanor. Owning multiple companies and leading a life that most only dream of, she had everything one could ask for. Yet, her life was not just about business and fame. Beneath the surface, Jiwon possessed a power that was both a gift and a burden. She could stop the world in its tracks whenever she wanted. This power allowed her to pause time, giving her control over her surroundings and even people’s actions. The only thing she couldn’t control was her own emotions, and those were deeply intertwined with her relationship with Dae-hyun (대현), a renowned actor with a charm that could light up a room.

Dae-hyun and Jiwon had been together for over a year. Their relationship was a public affair, celebrated and admired by fans and media alike. Dae-hyun’s parents were fond of Min-ji (민지), Jiwon’s best friend. The feeling was mutual, and Min-ji had been a constant support in Jiwon’s life, especially after she discovered her extraordinary power.

Min-ji was in a relationship with Baek-hyun (백현), who, like Jiwon, was also a prominent actor. Unknown to everyone, Baek-hyun shared the same supernatural ability as Jiwon—he could stop time. More intriguingly, Baek-hyun could hear Jiwon’s thoughts whenever she used her power. This secret connection between them was hidden from Jiwon, who had never suspected that Baek-hyun might be as extraordinary as she was.

The plot thickened when Min-ji and Dae-hyun announced their marriage. It was a grand celebration, marked by an extravagant ceremony and endless media coverage. Jiwon, though initially supportive, couldn’t shake the feeling of unease. She couldn’t explain it, but something about the situation felt off. Her feelings of discomfort were amplified by the constant presence of Baek-hyun, who seemed more distant and preoccupied than usual.

On the day of the wedding, as Jiwon mingled with the guests and smiled through her anxiety, she noticed Baek-hyun standing alone in a corner, staring at her intently. His gaze was intense, almost as if he was trying to decipher her thoughts. Unsettled, Jiwon decided to use her power to take a moment to herself. She slipped into a quiet room, closing her eyes and pausing time.

But as she stopped the world around her, she heard a faint whisper in her mind. “Jiwon, you’re not alone.”

Startled, Jiwon’s eyes flew open, and time resumed its normal flow. She turned around to find Baek-hyun standing in the doorway. His expression was one of mixed surprise and concern. “What are you doing here?” Jiwon asked, her voice trembling slightly.

Baek-hyun’s gaze softened, but there was a trace of something she couldn’t quite place. “I came to check on you. You seemed a bit off tonight.”

Jiwon was about to respond when she felt a sudden chill. She glanced around the room, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. “I’m fine,” she said, forcing a smile. “Just needed a break from all the festivities.”

As Baek-hyun nodded and left, Jiwon couldn’t shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong. The sense of unease continued to gnaw at her as the evening wore on. The final twist of the night came as she overheard a hushed conversation between Dae-hyun and Min-ji. Though she couldn’t catch the full exchange, the words “hidden agenda” and “secret” floated through her mind, further unsettling her.

Jiwon knew that something was amiss, but she couldn’t put her finger on it. As she left the wedding, the images of Baek-hyun’s intense gaze and the snippets of conversation played over and over in her mind. Little did she know that this was just the beginning of a series of revelations that would change everything she thought she knew about the people closest to her.

The world she thought she controlled was about to reveal secrets she wasn’t prepared to face.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
