Rebirth

Inside the deep depth of the ocean, a filmy figure of a human body could be seen dropping downward. From the constant bubbles spewing from the figure’s mouth, it appears that the person inside the ocean was drowning. Alex face held despair as he looked up towards the surface of the ocean. However, he was sinking deeper into the cold water, and could barely see the reflection of the evening sky on the surface of the ocean.

Nonetheless, he still hopes to live. He doesn’t want to die. Just below his chest were several holes that were constantly spurting out blood. All holes were from gunshots. The ocean water enclosing him had all been dyed red from his blood. From the open slit of his eyes, he could see several schools of fish, all swimming towards his direction. Perhaps due to the smell of his blood, they must have thought that he was their dinner for today. No, it wasn’t just a thought. It’s likely that he would be their dinner for tonight.

Bitterness crept into his heart as he thought of that. Feeling his eyelids get heavier by the seconds, Alex knew that he was dying. It was something that was evident to occur, but still he stretched his hands forward, perhaps hoping a passerby who had witness him being thrown into the ocean would jump in and save him.

But he knew that such hope was futile. Those killers had come prepared. Any means of savior was something he could only dream of happening. But can a soon to be dead man dream?

Alex suddenly felt the darkness of death trying to overtake him. No! No! He doesn’t want to die. At least not like this.

Memories of his families, loved ones, and how he had lived all through his stay on earth came flashing into his mind. It was like a reminiscence of his past and also a farewell to the earth he once lived.

This should be end, I guess.

He closed his eyes with a wry smile on his face.

Life had really been unfair to him. Losing everything precious to him. Families, wealth, including love, is something that would make anyone in their sane state lose their mind. The most painful of the events, was the unexpected betrayal he got from the person he loved dearly. All those years of him showing affection must have been like a joke to her.

How pathetic his life is. Well, It’s all over now. It’s finally time for him to put an end to the suffering of all those years.

He retracts his hands, conceding to the force that was pulling him down; into the darkness of the ocean.

----

Alex felt something solid hit his head. His eyes instantly flipped opened from the sudden pain, and his body unconsciously sat upright. Perhaps due to the sudden brightness, he immediately shut his eyes and let out a painful cry.

“Ha-ha-ha.” Laughter resounded from his surroundings.

What? Laughter?

Instantly opening his eyes, Alex took in to the view surrounding him. Starting from the people seated behind the desks, to the familiar person standing at the front podium, Alex was pretty sure this was his classroom back when he was in high school.

How come he’s here? Was this another recollection of his days in high school before he dies.

Seeing Alex silly expression, the class burst into laughter once more.

“Hmm hmm.” The teacher, clearly dissatisfied with the student’s actions clears his throat loudly, which quieten the students. He then turned his head, looking towards Alex direction. “You are sleeping again during class, Alex.”

Sleeping during classes, is what most teachers condemned for students to do. Hence from the teacher expression, one can see discontentment clearly written over his face.

However, the person in question was far too gone to answer. Different thoughts keep popping into Alex’s mind.

Wasn’t he dead? What is he doing here? Wasn’t he shot before… Hell yeah, the gunshots wound.

Alex began to rummage his body with his hands, perhaps to find any bloody holes. But he felt nothing at all. He couldn’t feel any sense of pain no matter how much he touches his body. The most surprising thing is that he felt younger and healthier.

He was perfectly okay, and not yet dead.

Lifting his head, Alex again looked at his surroundings again. This... He is absolutely sure that this is Ford’s high school. But how did he get here? Could it be that he was transferred back in time? Before Alex could think further, a loud roar lurch him out of his thoughts.

“Alex!” This time, the teacher was truly angry.

Alex eyes met the gaze of the furious teacher, who was standing in front of the class podium.

“See me after this class.” They were just five words, but they had already determined the fate of the young student.

“Sure.” Alex nodded subconsciously, before sitting down on his seat. There was no doubt that he was still feeling trance from what he was experiencing.

“Hey. Don’t you think he’s acting weird?”

“I also think so.” The two girls sitting next row to him began to whisper among themselves as they took notice of his strange expression.

Once class was over, Alex figure could be seen walking down the hallway of the class. His mind was still muddled on whether all what he was experiencing was a dream or not.

If it’s truly not an illusion, then it’s really a good thing to be alive once more. Perhaps God took pity on him and decided to transfer him back to his sixteen-year-old self.

With the second chance given to him, he sworn not to make the same mistakes as he did in his past life.

“Got into a strife again.” A female voice unexpectedly sounded behind him.

Hearing the familiar voice, Alex back instantly stiffened like a wood. Not from excitement, but as a result of something else. Slowly turning around, he was met the face of the person he would never forget all through his lifetime. Such a beautiful face that could lead to the downfall of a nation. A face that could stir the hearts of many guys.

All that belongs to one person, Cloud. His fiancée. Or should he say his soon to be ex-fiancée, because it’s evident that he is going cancel the engagement he had with her.

She was the plotter behind all the misery, and misfortune that had happened to him in his past life. His death, and everything else were all due to her conspiracy.

Alex gritted his teeth together, trying to keep himself from getting out of control. Finally taking a deep breath, he lifted his head up high, staring directly into her eyes. Despite the fact that he was trying to keep himself stable, his expression still showed a bit of ferocity.

This time around, he won’t make the same mistakes as he did in his previous life.

It was a promise.

“Yo, don’t stare at me like that. I’m not the one who got you into trouble.” Cloud said, looking at Alex with scorn. She didn’t even bother concealing the disdain emitting from her eyes. “You should be grateful that you’re dating a beauty like me. Why don’t you look at yourself in the mirror and see who would want to date a guy like you. You look so irritating to me.” Finally venting her frustration onto him, Cloud curse and left the poor guy all to himself.

Alex watched as her figure strode away from his sight.

“Bitch.” Uttering a curse word, he turns back around and walked away.
