Chapter 1

Desire. It’s a weakness. In the mafia world, it’s the mistake that can end a life before it begins. But for Jeon Jungkook, it was a mistake he couldn’t afford, yet couldn’t resist.

The night was dark, suffocating with the weight of secrets. The rain pelted against the blacked-out windows of the car, streaking down like a broken melody. Jeon Jungkook sat in the back seat, eyes trained on the club's neon lights up ahead. The air was thick with anticipation, a mixture of adrenaline and something else he refused to name.

“You ready for this?” Taehyung asked from the driver’s seat, his eyes briefly meeting Jungkook’s in the rearview mirror.

Jungkook leaned back, his jaw tightening. “I’m always ready.”

The club belonged to Kim Seokjin, another member of Wings, their mafia family. It was a front for their real business—drugs, weapons, and power. Jungkook had been through this routine countless times. Get in, make the deal, and ensure loyalty. There was no room for emotion in this world. No space for doubt.

But tonight felt different.

Y/N.

Her name echoed in his mind, like the lingering smoke from a bullet’s release. Jungkook hadn’t meant to care. She was just another woman, someone who had stumbled into the wrong place at the wrong time. She wasn’t supposed to matter.

But she did.

He could still remember the night they met. It was supposed to be a routine deal, but Y/N had walked into the club with her friends—unaware, innocent. She had caught his attention without even trying, her laughter cutting through the noise of the bar like a blade. Jungkook had told himself to walk away, to forget her.

Yet, he hadn’t.

“Jeon,” Taehyung’s voice broke through his thoughts. “Focus. We’re here.”

The car came to a stop in front of the club. Jungkook nodded, pushing open the door and stepping into the night. The cold air hit his face, grounding him in the present. He had a job to do. Y/N didn’t belong in this world.

But she was already becoming a part of it.

Inside the club, the music pulsed through the walls, shaking the very foundation of the building. The familiar faces of his crew were scattered around—J-Hope, Yoongi, Namjoon, Jimin. Each one of them commanded respect, their presence alone enough to silence a room.

“Jungkook,” Seokjin greeted him at the bar, sliding a drink across the counter. “We’ve got some new players tonight. Should be interesting.”

Jungkook took the drink without a word, his eyes scanning the room. And then, he saw her.

Y/N.

She was standing near the back, surrounded by her friends—Lisa, Jennie, Rose, and Jisoo. She looked out of place, too pure for a place like this, and yet she fits in effortlessly as if the darkness of the club had already wrapped its arms around her.

He didn’t know what it was about her that drew him in. Maybe it was the way she smiled, completely unaware of the dangerous men watching her. Or maybe it was the fact that she looked at him like he wasn’t a monster.

But he was.

Jungkook moved through the crowd, his steps purposeful. Every part of him screamed to stay away, to keep her out of his world. But the pull was too strong. He found himself standing in front of her before he could stop.

“Jungkook,” she said, surprised but not afraid.

He didn’t speak for a moment, just let his eyes take her in. She was breathtaking, and he hated how much he wanted her.

“Why are you here?” His voice was low, rough.

“I could ask you the same thing,” she teased lightly, but there was an edge of curiosity in her tone.

Jungkook’s eyes flickered to her friends—Lisa, Jennie, Rose, and Jisoo. They were all connected to the mafia, though Y/N didn’t seem to realize it. They were in too deep, just like him.

“You shouldn’t be here,” Jungkook warned, his gaze darkening. “This isn’t a place for you.”

Y/N frowned, crossing her arms over her chest. “And who are you to decide that?”

He could feel the anger bubbling beneath his skin, but it wasn’t directed at her. It was at himself. At the fact that he couldn’t stay away, even when he knew he should.

“I’m no one,” Jungkook said finally, stepping back. “Just stay out of trouble.”

As he turned to leave, he felt her hand grab his arm. The simple touch sent a shockwave through his body, something foreign and dangerous.

“Jungkook,” she whispered, and it wasn’t just his name—it was a plea.

He didn’t turn around. He couldn’t. If he did, he wasn’t sure he’d be able to walk away again.

The night after their encounter left Jungkook restless. His mind was filled with thoughts of Y/N, clouded by emotions he couldn’t afford to feel. As the days passed, their paths continued to cross—each time more dangerous than the last.

Meanwhile, Kim Taehyung and the rest of the Wings began to notice the change in Jungkook. His focus wavered, his temper shorter than usual. Taehyung, sharp and calculating, couldn’t help but question whether Y/N was becoming a liability.

“She’s just a girl,” Jungkook said one night, trying to dismiss Taehyung’s concerns.

“Girls like her can get you killed,” Taehyung replied coldly. “Or worse, they can make you weak.”

But it was already too late.

The mafia world was unforgiving, and Y/N was caught in the crossfire of a war she never knew existed. Each encounter with Jungkook brought her deeper into the darkness—a place where love could be the deadliest mistake of all.
