The Dinosaurs Arrive
Jake was having a perfectly ordinary day at school. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and Mrs. Thompson was just about to start the morning Story time. Jake loved Story time. It was his favorite part of the day, especially when Mrs. Thompson read about dinosaurs. Jake’s eyes sparkled as he imagined being a brave dinosaur explorer.
Just as Mrs. Thompson began reading a story about a dinosaur named Rex who loved to roar, a loud, unexpected noise came from outside. It was a booming thud, followed by a series of excited squeals. Jake’s eyes widened in wonder. Could it be…?
“Let’s see what’s going on,” Mrs. Thompson said, closing the book with a smile. The whole class followed her to the window. What they saw made their jaws drop.
There, on the school playground, were four enormous dinosaurs! Rex, with his enormous tail and cheerful grin, was roaring and waving at the children. Trudy, the Triceratops, was happily bouncing around, sending leaves flying into the air. Spike, the Stegosaurus, was hiding behind a big tree, peeking out shyly. And Tiny, the little Velocipede, was darting around in a blur of energy.
Jake could hardly believe his eyes. “Are those real dinosaurs?” he whispered to Lila, who was standing beside him. Lila’s eyes were wide with excitement.
“They must be!” Lila replied, her voice trembling with excitement. “But why are they here?”
Mr. Thompson, who had been standing quietly by the door, cleared his throat. “Class, it looks like we have some very special visitors today. We need to stay calm and figure out how to help them.”
Jake, Lila, and their classmates quickly gathered around Mr. Thompson, buzzing with questions and ideas. “What do dinosaurs eat?” Jake wondered aloud. “And where will they sleep?”
“First, let’s find out how we can help them,” Mr. Thompson suggested. “We need to make sure they’re safe and happy. Maybe we can show them how to be good in our classroom.”
The children agreed, excitedly talking over one another. They decided they would start by making sure the dinosaurs felt welcome. Jake and Lila volunteered to be the first to approach the dinosaurs.
As they walked outside, the dinosaurs looked up curiously. Rex let out a friendly roar, and Trudy wiggled her tail in greeting. Jake smiled and waved. “Hi, I’m Jake, and this is Lila. We’re going to help you get used to our school.”
Rex let out a happy roar, and Trudy bounced up and down with excitement. Spike peeked out from behind the tree and gave a little wave, and Tiny zipped around in circles, clearly thrilled.
Jake and Lila led the dinosaurs to a grassy area where they could play and rest. The dinosaurs seemed to enjoy the open space, and soon enough, they were all happily exploring the playground.
Mr. Thompson called everyone together. “It looks like we’re going to have a fun and busy day. Let’s remember to be patient and work together to make sure the dinosaurs learn how to behave in our classroom.”
Jake felt a thrill of excitement. This was going to be the most incredible day ever! But as he looked at the dinosaurs, he also realized that they needed to learn how to fit in with the other kids. It was up to him, Lila, and their friends to make sure the dinosaurs felt right at home. The adventure had just begun, and Jake couldn’t wait to see what the rest of the day would bring.
