Chapter 1 (Lidiah’s persctive)

Secrets long repressed were washing deeper and deeper. And everyone was guilty. Including me. Out of sight is not out of mind. Not for me.

Mine was not mere a plaguing misplaced ‘alter’ or unfounded gossip; rather, it was a book of magic. One filled with sorcery that was older and far more deadly than any magic I had come to know. With the persecution of my family, this volume was protected for countless generations and they damn well forbade me to touch its leaves. Still, that cold windy night was the lucky one. I bent to temptation. These were always my two weaknesses, curiosity and defiance.

The cover was adorned with strange symbols and tracing of them with my fingers elicited an unnatural sensation like the book was trying to get my attention. I was aware of the dangers. I was aware of the parables. But none of them mattered when I cracked open that book.

What I came across was not a simple beauty, charm, or protection spell that I had imagined. Rather, I disturbed something dark something living inside. I spoke the words slowly, deliberately; I could feel the room spinning as I tried to go through the incantation.

Apart from a desiccated aura, it exuded a sense of mystery – it had burrowing, glaring, gleaming eyes and spoke in a voice that threatened dry clouds. It was a curse, one that

Lest anyone think the worst was the curse itself, it drags everyone further into the quicksand. Rather than what blossomed there-a beautiful red rose, which appeared in my hand and I held without any surprise, other than revulsion. It was a tattoo of the bond which we could never break. A bond that meant that we could not be apart by more than ten feet. If we attempted, the magic of the rose would make us come back so forcefully we would feel as if there are two hearts within us being torn apart.

I and Leo – damned to remain with one another, damned to wade through this fight together, damned to see each other’s darkest sides.

And this was just the beggining.
