I'll always love you
Have you ever experienced one-sided love?
Remember that one person whom you loved more than you loved yourself, whom you expected would be your forever person...
Yet you held yourself back. Maybe it was the fear that the relationship you have with them would spoil, or maybe it was the realization that your scars were too deep, that you would end up hurting them... You held back, and never let them know.
One day, they meet you, excited to share that they found the love of their lives, and it’s not you. You end up smiling, congratulating them, giving them a warm friendly hug... but deep inside your soul dies in bits and pieces. In its dying breath, it ends up reminding your conscience - “It could have been us, it could just have been us...”
Oh how would the soul know, your conscience was screaming all this while - “My love, in every birth, I shall only be loving you!”

When I told you that you were beautiful, I was being quite serious,
Your smile and your voice would always make me delirious;
But surely, we aren’t similar and that was always true,
There are flaws in me but there were none in you.
I can’t help but see my heaven in your eyes,
In your delicate touch, I find my paradise;
I couldn’t comprehend how quickly the saplings of feelings grew,
But we were just friends you know, I couldn’t just tell you!
You were happy with somebody else and I could very well understand,
That I couldn’t just barge in when he had your heart beforehand;
Losing a loved one and being heartbroken, those feelings weren’t new,
Someone else wasn’t an option, I had dreamt of a lifetime only with you.
Well, that’s how my life has always been, incomplete and bland,
I am sure this one-sided love was something God had planned;
So I will ensure that the war in me, you will never see through,
I will hide this love and pain, even if it means someone else marries you!
So, I am back to being the guy who always listens to your complaints,
The one who’s tied down by societal constraints;
And even if I try there is nothing I can do,
You’ll always love him and I’ll always love you!
