Chapter 1

I received a telephone call from one of my clients.

" Cindy, why don't we discuss your lawsuit at my home? I will make us dinner. Here is my address. Please be at my home by 6. I will be leaving here early. How many people am I cooking for?

I will be bringing two of my personal body guards with me. None of have any allergies.  Please make whatever is easiest for you.  We will be there by six. I will bring a copy of the lawsuit that I received today by certified mail."  " I  will see you then."

I had developed feelings for Cindy over the years but never revealed them to her.  I use to be bashful when it came to my personal life. As a lawyer for business,  I am ruthless and have a ninety three percent wins. I hang up my phone and finish the last up on a current case. I ask one of my private investigator to open his email.  I sent him all the particulars on  a fraud case. I ended my call and log out or my desk top and get up. I gather all my things and ask my secretary to notify the rest or my employees I am leaving early. I signed some paperwork after I  read them for her. I tell her to enjoy her vacationing Barcelona.  I entered the elevator and hit the button for the parking lot.  I finally exit and make my way to my Bugatti, my recent purchase.  I use my fob to turn off my alarm.  I say hello to the security guard. I open the trunk and place my brief case in it, and close the trunk. I use my fob to unlock my car door and get in. I start it and place my seat belt off and back up once a Mercedes goes pass me, and no one else is coming.  I drive to the exit and wait for it to be cleared to my right with my blinker I. I have my satellite radio turned on to a jazz station.  It is clear and I exit the parking lot. I make my way to Costco.  I have some households and groceries to buy.  It takes me about thirty minutes to arrive. I am fortunate to find parking in the third aisle by where the shopping carts are kept at. It's a less chance of someone dinging my car. I get out in my navy blue business suit and lock my car which automatically turns on my alarm. I  wall to the entrance and get a cart. I walk inside, stopping to show them my business Costco card. I  already know the layout except when they relocate items to elsewhere. The first thing I place in my basket is tide unscented laundry detergent and several cleaning items. I placed several cases of bottle water and a package of Kirkland brand of toilet paper.  I start getting everything off my list.  It takes me a total of an hour and five minutes to check out. I ask the cashier for help to my vehicle.  She calls someone to help me  pull the cart and load it. I show the man my receipt.  We know one another by first names.

" I see your doing your monthly stock up."  " Yes, I  am running low."

We say goodbye.  I tell the employee where my car is at. I hit the fob to unlock it.  I tell him I will pull up by the tire shop. He says he will meet me.  I unlock my car and do my usual routine.  I parked and turned my hazards on. I open the trunk from inside. He comes to my window to tell me everything is placed inside.  I thank him and turn off my hazards.  I notice I need gas if I want to make it home. I drive to Costco gas pumps and wait my turn. It is finally my turn. I get out hitting the button to open the outer door for my gas area. I lock my door and had the lady 55.00 dollars to get gas. I tell her no receipt is needed. I wish her a good afternoon, and she says the same.   I walk back to my car and unlock the gas cap and insert the knob into my gas line.  I wait for a while until it is done. The wind is picking up. My hair is flying in my face. I leave it alone until I get in my car. I place the gas nozzle back into the pump holder. I lock the cap on my gas and close the door. I unlock my door and get situated.  I turn in my engine and look at my hair.  It's not bad so I drive away. I make my way to the freeway to my home. It's about an hour drive with lunch traffic and work on the streets and freeway.  I finally pass the guard at the entrance of my home and make my way to my home. I push the remote to open my garage and pull in. I barely close the door when it starts raining.  I am glad I made it home before I had forgot my umbrella in my garage. I hit the remote to close it. I get out and slide the latch so no one can use another remote to try to get in. My first week here,  I learned the hard way. Someone stole over three grand of items that the police said I most likely wouldn't get back.  They were right.  Now,I have cameras in each of my my four garages. I open my trunk after I turned off my house alarm and locked the door. I begin unloading the light stuff first and make my way back and forth for the waters which is the heaviest to place once I remove them on the shelves in my pantry next to my wine cooler which also holds my beer. I am done finally tossing everything to be recycled.  I go change and toss my work clothes in my dry cleansers bag. I change into my adidas swets and adidas slides with my   black t-shirt. I place my gun in my gum vault bt my bed. I hook up my cell to my charger. I wash up after I go get my brief case and place at my kitchen counter with my laptop.  I know I will need them both.

I begin getting all the ingredients to make New York steaks several potatoes and salad fixings. I am allergic to red tomatoes only.  I wash everything I need for the salad and start Jillian everything.  I place everything in the bowl and cover it up. I place it in the refrigerator. I wash the cutting board and knife.  I get my cooking sheet to place them on the rack and preheat the oven. Once it dings,  I placed the cookie sheet onto the rack and close it. I set the timer. Now it is time to wash and season the steaks before I place them on two skillets.  The two skillets are warm enough for me to place the four steaks on the grill. I wash my hands and dry my hands after throwing away the container the steaks came in.

I turn on the news while I  grill the meat.  One side is done.  I look for a bottle of wine to place on my dining table and set up the dining table for four.  My door bell rings. It's Cindy and her two guards with their umbrellas.

"Please come in. The hallway half bathroom is on your right  where you can leave your umbrellas to dry off.  The coat rack is empty so please put your coated there.  I am almost done cooking.  Please feel free to roam around my home downstairs."

" Elizabeth do you need any help?"

"I would like to introduce you to my guards."

We follow Elizabeth to the kitchen after I introduced them. Elizabeth said we could wash and dry our hands. She is removing the bacon potatoes and turns off the oven.  She turns off the steak.

" Cindy please be so kind and remove the salad and the vinegarette and ranch dressing I make from scratch. Please place them on the table and bring everyones plates. You can choose what potato and steak you want. I made them all medium.  I wasn't sure what you all like them to be."  " Elizabeth don't worry. Everything smells delicious."

"Thank you Lisa."

They go get our four plates. I have them get theirs first than I get mine.  I join them in my dining room and sit.

" I also have beer if anyone would like that,  cold water and ice tea in the refrigerator. "

They all said the wine was enough.  I am opening the wine bottle as they are adding what they want on their baked potato. I begin pouring everyone wine which empties the bottle. I tell then I have more of the same vintage and year if they want a second glass. They all said they would have a bottle of water. I get up to get us all a bottle of water  and hand them to each one. I sit myself down and cut open my potato to add butter and Himalaya salt with black coarse pepper using my grinder.   I place my napkin on my lap and take a sip of my wine before I start pouring the vinegarette on my salad to eat it.  During dinner Cindy tells me about the lawsuit. I tell her several other of my clients in Sacramento are having the same problem. I could add her to my existing clients or do her case separate. She asks me what would be the best way to handle it. I take a few minutes  before answering while I am chewing my steak.  Thinking of the pros and cons.  I finally tell her a group would suit her better.  I am finished with my food a glass of wine after they are.  Her two guards say they would do the dishes while we talk business.  I go get my laptop and my brief case. I log into my laptop and show her the other cases.  She cannot believe already fifteen people are being sued for the exact thing that wasn't their fault.  I tell her what my fees will include and be. I tell her on Monday is when the trial begins. The jury already has been picked.  I add her to the existing cases and email it to the  lawyers who are representing their client, one company.

I log out of my lap top and turn it off.  I open my water and drink it from the bottle.  I don't care about it. They placed theirs in the glass I provided in their place setting. The ladies are done. I take my bottle of water with me and give them a tour of everything except my closets and art room for my eyes only that is behind a wall which no one knows but me and my contractor and the planning department.  The contractor did it himself at my request.  I have several thousands of dollars of very valuable paintings.

They love the layout and my decor.  Cindy asks me who was the designer.  I tell her me.  She tells me next time  she wants to redo her home she resides in. She will call me. I laugh and tell her I am not cheap.  The guards want to play billiards.  I tell them the alarm is on so please do not open any doors or windows.  We leave them.  Cindy wants to see my bedroom.  We go upstairs.  We make our way to my bedroom and she locks the door behind us.

" Elizabeth, I don't want  to waste any more time. I like you. I hope you do too."

" Yes for a while.  I just wasn't sure you were gay." " I am intersex.  I hope that doesn't bother you. "

" No not at all. I get two for the price of one. Since it's Friday evening. Please spend the night and have your guards return Sunday even after seven to pick you up. I have clothes that will fit you. I rather stay in. I am always on the go a lot lately. I will turn off the alarm so you can have them leave.  Please lock the door and return up here."

She leaves to go downstairs.
