“The seventh child of the seventh son or his wife is doomed to become a vampire. Vampires are said to have one heart and one soul, and since the soul of he or she is doomed, that soul never dies, and the vampire remains undead. If that doomed to be a vampire is undetected by any human, he can travel to another country or to a place where another language is spoken and become a human again. Chapter 1

Emerging from the shadows, clad in dark leather with silver stakes glimmering at his belt, he fixed his piercing gaze on his prey, Lylliath. "You've danced in the dark for too long," he whispers to himself. Taking a step closer, his breath steady, instincts sharp, and ready for the next move from the being in front of him. His voice is low, commanding. "I am Giorgio, the hunter who will bring your countless victims justice. You may surrender now, or face the consequences of your bloodlust."

She smiles, her crimson lips curling slightly as I tilt my head, curiosity sparkling in my eyes. "Giorgio, the hunter? You’ve come to snuff out the darkness, yet you stand before me, wrapped in it.” Slowly stepping out from behind a crumbling gravestone and into the moonlight, her eyes glimmer with a hint of mischief, "Do you truly believe you can catch the wind, or are you simply chasing shadows?"

Giorgio’s grip tightening around the silver stake at her remark, heart pounding in anticipation. "I don't chase shadows, Lylliath. I've tracked you across the countryside. The mournful cries of your victims ripple through the air like an unending melody of despair. I won’t let your song play on," Moving closer, his voice steady yet fierce as he advances. "Your charm may fool others, but it won't work on me. You taste like death, and I intend to put an end to your reign."

Laughter arising, chilling as she twirls away. "How poetic. But you underestimate what lurks in the shadows. You think you can end my reign? I am a noble of the night, and the night does not fall for mere mortals." In one swift, fluid motion, she darts towards her opposition, the movements almost a blur. As her voice drops to a seductive whisper as the distance is closed teasingly, "Would you rather fight... or join the darkness?"

Giorgio’s instincts scream for him to dodge to the side, narrowly avoiding her advance. The air crackles with tension and a hint of danger as I regain my stance, heart racing. "Joining you is not an option, Lylliath. You twist words like you twist hearts, but I am here to end the turmoil you bring, " With a swift motion, he throws the silver stake, aiming for the heart, the moonlight catching it as it glimmers on its path. "for all those who’ve suffered in your wake."

As she senses the shot, she elegantly pivots as the cold steel just grazes her shoulder instead of finding its mark. A smirk plays on her lips as she stand mere inches away. "Is that all you've got, Giorgio? Your strength lies not just in your weapons, but in your determination. Although, determination alone cannot conquer the wild. You must learn."

Making a disapproving grunt, he pulls a second stake from his belt, refusing to relent as he steps forward in the swirling shadows. "Your darkness is strong, but I have something far more powerful — a purpose, a will to find a way to end your tyranny, even if it means facing the abyss itself."

With a mocking sigh, she leans back as she quickly moves into a back handspring, "Oh, how predictable, Giorgio. Do you truly think you can catch me with such simple tricks?" Her stunt moves her through a mildly-prickered bush, her back lightly hitting the bark of a large oak tree.

"You're toying with me, Lylliath. But every game has its end," He jokes, as the stake begins to eject a misty cloud of holy water over the bush. "You can hide, but I will find you. You can run, but I will reach you." With determination clear in his voice, he focuses on the darkness, seeking any glimpse of your movement. "You’ve underestimated the resolve of a hunter."

From the depths of the shadows beneath the oak, she lets out a sharp-toned cry. Growling low, she jeers, “A hunter who cannot see is just a lost soul in the dark." She moves quickly, and emerges just beside the moonlit gravestone where the most recent stake had landed, careful to keep her distance from it as to not weaken her senses. "Tell me, Giorgio, do you really believe the legends of your kind? That you can extinguish the darkness? It thrives in the forgotten, in the shadows where you’re merely a whisper away.” With a swift motion, she leaps to appear a few paces away from him, a bemused expression on her face, “Every hunter believes they will go down in history, in grade-school textbooks, yet they have always failed. I wonder why you think you’re so different. What will you do now, brave hunter?"

Pulse quickening, catching a glimpse of the slim figure dancing in the shadows, enchanting and graceful enough to be a figure skater, even a ballerina. "I will not let your charms distract me. I won't fall prey to your tricks,” he whispers to himself and focuses back on the task at hand. With renewed focus, he dives to retrieve the silver stake lodged in the ground from his last throw. His mind runs through every encounter he has had with her kind, every tale of survival prepares Giorgio for the inevitable clash. "You may thrive in the shadows, but I’ve survived in the light. That light shines brighter when faced against the encroaching darkness." In a swift, practiced motion, he launched forward again, his stake aimed not at her heart—yet—but at her feet, intending to corner you, cutting off your escape routes. "Your night of freedom will end, Lylliath."

Feeling his intensity and determination, the thrill of the game ignites her spirit. "Ah, what a valiant effort, Giorgio! But did you think I was merely going to stand still?" she jokes, as she ducks her head, her face puzzled when she realizes no stake had flown over her head, yet had landed centimeters away from her feet. The silver cuts off her senses temporarily, and she flees back to escape the lingering effect of short-ranged blindness and declined wayfinding. With a delicate sigh, she regains her composure as she begins to figure out her opponent’s position. "Tell me, hunter, how many more times will you attempt to ensnare me before you come to understand that I am always one step ahead?"

Sensing her mocking delight, irritation fuels his determination. With a fierce glare, he launches himself towards the stone archway, springing forward with purpose as his feet barely touch the ground, aiming a powerful kick, hoping to knock the stones loose beneath her, shaking her perch. "One step ahead, you say?" Sending gravel and debris cascading down, aiming to unbalance her, his voice carries a keen edge, unwavering in focus. "You may be agile, Lylliath, but tonight, I outsmart you."

As the stones crack beneath her feet, realizing the impending danger, the ground rumbles like thunder. Eyes widening and instincts kicking in, she is forced to retreat into the shadows again. "Clever little hunter!" she scoffs, and with a graceful leap, she disappears from the archway as the stones tumble into place, a flurry of mist swirling where she had once stood. The mist travels a few yards away from where she was before, and her heart races with the thrill of the chase and regained her composure. A glint of challenge flickers through her mind as she mumbles to herself, "You have speed, Giorgio, but can you keep it up? The shadows have endless places to hide."

Circling around her, revealing himself in the distance, a silhouette framed by the moonlight. "Are you so sure of your victory? A true hunter knows when to pounce and when to retreat. You speak of retreat as if you were not the one forced to withdraw, Lylliath," I reply, steadying my resolve. "But you underestimate the power of a hunter's will." The tension lingers thick in the air as he prepares for her next move, eyes vigilant and heart pounding. "Each moment you prolong this, you grow more desperate. And in desperation lies your weakness." With a sudden burst of speed, he pivots and dashes toward the edge of the graveyard, hoping to cut off any avenues of escape, mind racing with strategies to outmaneuver the vampiress’ cunning methods. "We are both creatures of the night, but it is I who will master it tonight."

Lylliath watches him move, mind calculating the odds. As he darts towards the edge, she feels the thrill of the hunt, although a clever hunter is not so clever when faced with overwhelming agility. "So bold, Giorgio! But boldness can lead to recklessness." Shadows swirled around her as she used the darkness as an ally. She slips behind a cracked and ruined sculpture which was once something grand, yet forgotten. Suddenly appearing on top of a nearby crypt, looking down at him with something that is part admiration, part defiance. "But can you truly capture what you cannot see?" Throwing a small shard of stone his way, hoping to distract him just long enough to give me a chance to sprint across the graveyard, silently weaving in and out of the ruins, heart racing with exhilaration. "This game has just begun!"

As he dodges the shard, his eyes locked on to every move, adrenaline coursed through him. "You can dart away, but I will find you again, Lylliath. The night may be your ally, but with every evasion, you expose the cracks in your defense."

With every leap she takes, tracking her movement, he channels every ounce of focus into the hunt, positioning himself for the next encounter. "This isn’t merely a game of chase; it’s a battle of will, and I will not yield to your illusions."

Anger and frustration yet a spark of intrigue washed over her, she makes a decision to flee the scene entirely, as mist swirls around her and a raven flying off into the distance when that mist is cleared. She had yet to find a human who exceeded her skills, but a few moments before she had stood in front of someone who basically matched her.
