My Two Sons
POV: Ashley
"What was it like?" I wondered out loud
"What?" Leon asked
"Oh, nothing," I said
"No. Tell me," He said, looking over at me.
The night sky seemed so endless as the boys fell asleep, Leon and I decided to just leave the city for a while and let our wolves guide us to a peaceful place to relax. It had been a while since we enjoyed a night together that wasn't in our home or on a date night outside the area of his office. We were never too far away from our responsibilities, whether it was the kids or the territory, but tonight felt different.
"Well," He started, "Are you going to tell me?"
"I was just wondering what was it like when the king and queen fell in love, that's all," I said
"You know what," He started, "That's a really good question, think we should ask them?" He wondered
"I don't know. As far as I know, we only have tonight unless you know how to prolong time," I said, sitting up.
"I think Scarlett would be able to help with that more than anybody else," He mocked, sitting up.
I giggled at the thought, "The sky may be out of her league despite the magical miracles she's been able to pull off," I said
"Pull off so far, and aside from that, it doesn't hurt to try to ask her," He suggested
"Ain't no way she'd be able to do it," I said, as his phone went off.
"We won't know unless she tries," He said, answering the phone, "Hello, Alpha Williams speaking." He started
I lay back down in the grass, staring at the sky as Leon was on the phone, paying little mind as I took in the stories the stars were trying to tell me, before Leon's shouting brought me back.
"He Had A Brother!" He said
I sat up and looked at him, "Who did?" I questioned
"We've got to get to Scarlett's place now," He said, getting up
We ran for a while, showing up at her front door. Hon was in a panic, yelling in Japanese, eventually switching over to English as we got closer.
"What's going on?" I asked
"She was doing her random potion testing again, and now some random spirit took over her body. He's claiming to be Joseph's brother and doesn't want to speak to anyone but him." He said, gliding down to the basement.
I could hear him humming a familiar song, it was mournful yet hopeful as he continued, I saw the fiery red head as someone else, someone strong, someone with nothing but love to give as he stood.
"Sis?" Leon asked
"He. Him for now, at least," Hon reminded
The image of the man overshadowed Scarlett, at least in my eyes. I didn't see Leon's half sister, but a man who glanced past Leon to me as a smile formed on his face.
"Jojo!" His masculine voice boomed out
I stood frozen for a second, "I'm not....," I started as I felt myself pull away. Joseph took shape, taking control, "Who are.....Abe?" He asked
"Oh, great, now my wife got taken over. Thanks a lot, Hon," Leon said
"Hey. Not my fault, and did you not hear what he said? He called him Abe. They know each other." He said
"Abe?" He said, "Brother!" He shouted
POV: Leon
As the two hugged, they laughed, patting each other on the back, almost knocking each other over while doing so. I was confused, to say the least, as these two women in front of me were acting more like battle-worn men until I noticed one of Ashley's eyes had the same green hue as mine. She was always closer to anstery than I was ever since that time Joseph took over her body by force when Julian was kidnapped. Ever since then, she's been getting more in touch with it, even using his memories for inspiration for her stories or just to document his history, but because his memories are vague images that come in her dreams, there's no way to confirm them as facts or fiction.
"How come you can't do that?" Hon asked
"He can. If he allows himself to be taken over." Joseph said
"Or he can drink this!" Abe said with a cheery voice, holding a vial
"Not yet. I've got questions for you two, and Hon, you might want to get a camera." I said
"Scarlett keeps cameras in the room anyway, but I'll set up the living room," He said, heading upstairs
{ A few minutes later}
"Finally! I should be able to use this to feel closer to my ancestry, like Ashley! I hope it's someone cool and nice, hopefully on my mother's side of the family, the last thing I need to do is to channel a racist wolf murdering psychopath on my father's side of the family. I know!" Scarlett said
The camera cut for a moment as she returned into the frame, "Okay. Take two. My name is Scarlett Sergiaino, and I have created a formula to channel astral beings from within by using my magical powers. I've made a potion to target genes within the DNA that can be linked back to an ancestor. Now, since this is an experimental test, I've done weeks of familial research to try to connect with a person from my mother's lineage. I'm wearing a family heirloom that's been passed down from generation to generation. To be honest, since I recently reconnected with my mom, I'm sure of the origins of this necklace or who it belonged to initially, but it's a safer bet to try than anyone on my father's side of the family. Anyway, the time is now eight fifty-eight pm, I will be taking the sample at nine on the dot." She said
As promised, as soon as the clock struck nine, she drank from the vial. She grabbed her throat, whining, almost shifting into her fox form, falling out of frame before getting up, and looking around in confusion.
"Holy shit," I mumbled to myself
"Language, boy. You don't know whose ears are listening," He said
"Everything is ready for this weird interview, I guess," Hon said, before getting pulled onto Scarlett's lap
"You know, you remind me of one of my lovers, smell like her too." He said
Hon squeaked, shifting into his bunny form, running behind the camera before shifting back to normal while he laughed, "I hate that so much," He said
"So, your name is Abe?" I asked
"I am the elder son of the former King Joseph Smith Sr. I was born of his first wife and one true mate. She passed from illness after brithing me. One of her final requests for her king, her Alpha husband and lover, was that I may love freely and without restraint of my own volition. I am Lord Abraham Aodhan Dragonsblood Smith." He said
"And the royal fool," Joseph added before looking away, rubbing his ring finger, "And my greatest friend." He said
"Brother. Save your heartache, I lived a bold and freeing life filled with travels, loves, and hope that you had found peace with my absence, with the love that father promised you were able to have in my stead. Did he follow through on our deal after I renounced his name?" He asked
"He did, but nothing could replace the emptiness that was left when my brother chose love over his rightful place as King," Joseph said
"It was a necessary undoing of the family traditions, for I was no king under our father. Hell, I didn't even feel like a noble to him. I was simply a man. Just a man who knew to keep fated mates apart would lead to death and destruction. So, was my sacrifice in vain, brother?" He asked
"My friends are not aware of your legacy, brother. Let's start from there, shall we?" Joseph asked
Abe huffed, sitting up in the chair before leaning back, taking up more space. "My legacy is unknown?" He questioned
"The man before us asked your title and surname, and I'm sure the outsider scribe isn't from the area, so it appears not," Joseph said
"We must reconcile this, brother," He said before snarling and whining
Abe shook his head, half shifting before screeching out, shifting completely before falling on the floor. Hon rushed over, covering the now nude frilge body of my half sister to the bedroom. Ashley had her eyes closed, reopening them, yawning, and stretching out like she had just woken from a deep slumber.
"Wh...what did I miss?" She asked
"Long story short, you'll be able to find out how the king and queen met," I said
