Chapter One

There lived a mother with her 10 year old daughter, Lilly, and an abusive father in a small town. Word gets around in a small town. They said her father, Dan, was a dangerous man. He would drink every night and get into a bad mood.

Lilly was scared. For both her mother and herself. Everyday was the same. Lilly would be dragged out of her bed, by her hair, at 4 A.M., into the kitchen and yelled at to do the dishes or some kind of work. It was to Lilly's despair that she had to do them so fast that she could barely keep up. She washed the dishes as fast as she could. When Dan walked into his bedroom, she could hear her mom yelling in pain. Lilly knew her mom had a plan on the fourth on July. But still, she became enraged with her father. When Lilly finished, she made pancakes for breakfast and set the table. Her dad sat at the table. "Where's Mother?" Lilly asked concerned.

"That is none of your business.", Dan replied plainly. By this time, Lilly was extremely worried. Lilly bit her lip. "Dad, please just tell me if she is OK"

"THAT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!", Dan yells and shatters a plate on the ground. Lilly quickly stands up and begins sweeping up the glass. Dan slaps Lilly on the back hard.

"Ow!", she cries. "That's it young lady!", her dad says aggressively and grabs Lilly's neck. "Stop!", she screams. As Dan holds his grip on her neck she says, "Daddy, It's me. Daddy it's your daughter Lilly!" Dan let's go of her neck and throws her to the wall. He then storms out of the house and slams the door behind him. Lilly runs into her father's bedroom only to find her mother dead. Murdered by her father. There, just laying there, with marks on her throat, her face pale, and no movement what so ever. Lilly begins to cry. "M-Mother...", Lilly stutters as the tears gleam in her eyes. She kneels over her Mother, not knowing what to do now. She stays there for a while, mourning over her Mother's loss. After awhile, Lilly takes her mother's wallet and goes to her room. Lilly packs a backpack with food and water. She then walks down the hall. As she passes her mother she says, "Don't worry. I'll fulfill your plan. I wont let you down, I promise." As Lilly approaches the front door, she takes one last look at the only "home" she ever knew. She sighs and opens the door. "Goodbye"
