Author note
I began my first year of drawing and painting in a year that went south. I was a bit stressed after a lot of personal stuff happening to me at the time. Until my teacher told us we were going to do water color project near the last week of October and it had to be serialism art. I have used water colors before but this felt different to me since my teacher told us we had to layer our piece. At the time, I only knew layering in digital art, but traditionally I thought was going to be hard. Also we had to use quotes and lyrics or anything inspiring to use for the piece. As I began to sketch it out, originally it was going to be a girl in a flower field. But as my teacher looked at my thumbnail, she told me “hey, why not add your own character”.
She know about what I do on Instagram and YouTube, but I thought for a minute about it. Until something click as I began to imagine a beautiful character I created for myself. Candy Storm is a character that appeared first in the Captain Unikitty: Legend Of 9 Tribes Movie (still on YouTube). She was a character who always had a big heavy coat and a mask with her ears sticking out. To me, she was different and beautiful. But secrets were secrets as one time I was trying to do anatomy art. To be honest, still to this day I feel quite embarrassed by what I drew, but of course I keep it separated from what I do on YouTube and Instagram. Her body underneath is purple and fuzzy, but also has somewhat human anatomy. Only I change parts to fit her. But as some told me, drawing characters without clothing isn’t always going to be scary sexual stuff, it’s only if the characters is in a weird pose or on top of another character. Anatomy is somewhat different. If I’m wrong about this, then I apologize.
The Character was an adult of course and my project took many days and many weeks throughout November of 2022. Layering with watercolor was something that felt good. Every time I walked into my class, I jumped into my seat and began painting all over my paper. Only once I got upset by unwanted thoughts I had and almost ruined one flower on the picture. My teacher fixed it up and understood sometimes things will be hard. After long weeks, after many days. My picture was finished before thanksgiving break.
Candy Storm is standing looking down on herself. The mountains in the back stand tall as the sky is covered with clouds. A lake also sits in the background. Candy Storm has grass and flowers coming out of her. She stairs at them thinking. The mountains also grow flowers too. And Candy Storm making snow.
