Chapter 1

3rd person PoV

Phana, Kit, Beam, and Forth are already in their third year, and again, they are helping the Freshmen with the Moon and Star Competition.

Ming and Wayo, one as the sophomore Campus Moon and the other as the moon of Sciences and the most popular boy of all the University, are occupied in different events that were organized with other universities, the same as their fellow moons and stars, therefore, third-year moons and stars were asked to help this time.

As always, Phana can’t stand being alone, so he drags his two friends with him. He and Kit have been in a very bad mood due to their boyfriends’ busy schedules.

Beam, on the other hand, is not even playing anymore. He no longer goes to the bar to look for girls, only to drink with his friends and keeps quiet most of the time.

At that time, five newcomers drew everyone’s attention: Forth, the first runner-up after Phana and his gang; Park, Lam, Max, and Tul.

“Why are they here?” Asks Kit

“Park’s little sister is the star of the Fine Arts faculty,” says Phana.

Just when Phana finishes speaking, they see Park approaching a girl, glaring at any boy who has his eyes on her. It is obvious that Park’s possessiveness doesn’t just reach Lam.

Beam looks at Max and Tul, then Park and Lam, as well as their own friends; they are also in a relationship. Finally, his eyes settle on Forth, and he unconsciously licks his lips. Some time ago, he realized his feelings for Forth; almost at the same time, he stopped sleeping with girls.

“I want him,” he says suddenly. Kit and Phana choke on their drinks.

“Who are you talking about?” Asks Phana.

“Forth,” Beam says, signaling with his head in the direction in which Forth is.

His two friends look at Forth without being able to believe what they hear. Since when does Beam like men?

“You don’t like men,” says Kit in disbelief.

“Nope, but I like him,” says Beam confidently.

“You don’t like anyone, period. You never had a girlfriend or a boyfriend,” Asks Phana.

Phana hates Forth not only because of what happened with Wayo but also because he still remembers how he almost lost to him in the competition. And Phana hates to lose. What happened with Wayo just gave him the perfect excuse to distance himself from Forth.

“I don’t like anyone who I think doesn’t deserve me. But him...” Beam pauses to continue ogling Forth. “I still don’t understand how he lost against you,” says Beam, looking at Phana.

“Forget about that already! It was two years ago, for God’s sake! Get over it!” Says Phana, angry.

Yes. Beam used to say all the time at that time how great Forth was and how strange it seemed to him that he didn’t win, but after a while, he stopped thinking about it until now.

During all these years, something continued to bother him regarding the competition in which Phana and Forth participated. Everyone knew that Forth would at least win the title of the most popular guy; even many took it for granted that he would be the next Campus Moon. But at the last moment, the balance tipped in Phana’s favor.

“What are you going to do?” Asks Kit.

“Court him,” says Beam

“WHAT?” Exclaimed his surprised friends.

“Why not? I know he’s bisexual, and I don’t think he’s dating anyone at this moment.”

“I’m sure it’s because he isn’t over Wayo yet,” says Phana with a strange smile on his lips.

“Are you kidding me? That happened last year. Also, Wayo is not that big of a deal, either. Only you can like a spoiled kid who doesn’t even know how to drive. That’s not what Forth needs,” says Beam angrily. He is already fed up with Phana and his need to feel he is better than others.

“And what does he need, according to you?” Says Kit.

“A man, and I’m going to be that man.”

“You!? Please don’t make me laugh,” says Phana mockingly.

“why not? I’m much better for him than Wayo. I don’t need him to take care of me; I can handle myself. I don’t need to depend on him or him on me. I don’t need him, nor does he need me, but one is not with the person he loves out of necessity,” reflects Beam.

“love? Are you in love with him?” Phana asks with wide eyes.

“Yup”

“You’ve never been in love, Beam, you don’t know what love is,” says Kit

And now Beam is pissed.

“And what is love, Kit? Bullying a kid before and after starting a relationship with him, and pampering him every so often so that he continues to worship the ground I step on? Or scold my boyfriend for wanting to take my hand and kiss me on the cheek in public as if I’m ashamed of him?”

Phana and Kit blink.

“Hey, I don’t bully Wayo!” Defends Phana.

“No? Weren’t you the one who treated him badly when he came to this University? Weren’t you the one who continued to prioritize Pring even after knowing that the freshman was your beloved Wayo? You even gave her false hope for at least a year.

Weren’t you the one who disappeared and made him believe that you would have to go live in America to the point of making him cry? You’re lucky that Wayo has low self-esteem. You really deserve each other. You are a jerk, and he is an idiot.”

Phana gets up quickly and closes his fists on Beam’s shirt. Their faces are a few inches away.

“Don’t you dare insult Wayo!” He says furiously.

“Or what?” Beam asks without cringing, “Are you going to hit me? I’m just telling the truth, and you know it.”

Without saying a word, Phana leaves and joins a group of Moons not far from where the three are sitting.

“You know he doesn’t like it when someone points at his imperfections,” says Kit.

“I don’t care; we’re not kids anymore, for Fuck’s sake! It’s time we started calling things by their names, or did you forget why we’re studying medicine?” asks Beam, and Kit sighs.

The two are silent for a while.

“Ming ... Ming knows and accepts how I am,” says Kit, looking away.

“For now. Have you ever wondered how long it will take for him to get tired of you being ashamed of him?”

“No ... it’s not that ...” whispers Kit.

“I know, but Ming is not like us; Ming is not your childhood friend; he wants to be more than your friend; you can’t treat him like you treat us.”

“Hey, why am I suddenly the center of the conversation?” asks Kit, blushing. He knows that Beam is right, and it’s not that he’s embarrassed about Ming; it’s just that ... he ... he’s just not used to these displays of affection. His family is cold in that aspect, and that doesn’t mean they don’t love each other.

“Ok, but don’t tell me I don’t know what love is just because I’ve never been in a relationship before,” says Beam and Kit is silent.

“Do you really love him?” Question Kit after a while. He is worried about his friend. Whatever he says, it’s the first time he feels something for someone and, above all, for someone like Forth.

Unlike Phana, Kit doesn’t think Forth is still hurt by what happened with Wayo, but Forth is a player, almost like Beam. He is not sure that someone like him can settle down and settle for just one person.

Now that he thinks about it, he hasn’t seen hickeys on Beam’s neck for a long time or Beam sleeping during the first class in the morning because he couldn’t sleep during the night.

“Beam ...”

“Um?”

“You’re not playing anymore, aren’t you?” Kit asks though he can imagine the answer. Beam looks at him and shakes his head.

“Shit!” Kit curses for not having noticed before.

“Just ... just be careful. I don’t want to see you hurt.”

Beam just smiles. He knows that this may be a possibility, a very real possibility, to be honest, but he has already made a decision and doesn’t intend to detract from it.

“So you are really going to court him?” Asks Kit after a while.

“Yup,” says Beam while looking at Forth.

“Seriously? Someone like Forth? I doubt He lets you fuck him,” laughs Kit.

“I don’t care,” says Beam, also laughing. “if he let me, he let me, and if not, then I’ll let him do me.”

“WHAT THE FUCK!” Kit can not believe what he just heard.

“What?”

“Will agree the great Baramee Wongphipat to be fucked?”

“By Forth? Totally,” says Beam, very sure of himself.

“Who are you, and what did you do with my friend? I never thought that the number one Casanova of the University would accept being the bottom.” Kit simply can’t stop making fun of Beam; this is too good.

“I know, right?”

Kit hisses. Where is the fun in trying to make fun of someone who doesn’t care?

“Ok, Kit, wish me luck,” says Beam and stands up.

“What are you going to do?”

“My plan to conquer Forth begins now,” Beam says, moving away to meet Forth and his friends.
