Cast Away.
Misicipy.
Vengium.
Belmont estate.
The servants remained silent, no one dared to even breathe too loud, lest the anger of their lord be redirected at them. At the moment, it was, unfortunately, being directed at the young mistress
< Enough!
Sir Austin yelled, Arya unconsciously sank back into her seat. After all these years, she still wasn't used to her father yelling at her. Her mother, Lady Bermunt, sat limply beside her, and her twin sister, Anna Belmunt, snickered at her misfortune, meanwhile, Aurelius, her younger brother, who would usually speak up on her behalf, was not home at the moment, leaving her at her father's furious mercy.
<I've made up my mind on the matter and that's my final decision!
He yelled again, Arya shrunk back.
Of course he has. It was always easier to cast away an unwanted daughter, than to pretend she mattered at all. Her fate had been declared and decided, by sunrise the coming day, she would be on her way to Belsh. A neighboring kingdom that had just declared peace with Velguim, after long years of war and enemity.
Al in the name of 'securing their alliance' she was to be cast away to live there till further notice. That was if she wasn't murdered on entering the so called kingdom. She had never even left the confines of her home, or rather, her cage, and now she was to live amongst strangers. Arya sighed again.
Her father stormed out of the room, she finally released the breath she had been holding since morning, her chest heaving.
Sighing, her mother quietly exited the room, yet the tension remained.
<Well sister, atleast my fate is much better than yours.
Anna said smirking.
<Yes sister, at least it is.
Arya relied absently, honestly, she couldn't care less, not after what just happened.
<Oh please, don't act like the victim here, it was either gonna be me or you. And i am glad it wasn't me.
<Whatever, i'm going to my room to rest, i don't feel like talking to anyone right now. Arya said.
Attempting to stand up, her hand was forcefully yanked back by Anna, causing her to crash back into the sofa.
<Now look here sister, i didn't bring this on you, you brought this on yourself. I just knew how to express myself more boldly than you ever would.
Anna said as she angrily stormed out of the parlor, Arya gaped at her retreating back in awe.
Which of us is supposed to be angry right now, should'nt that be me?!! She thought, feeling wronged, but unble to do anything about it.
Getting up from the sofa, she slowly made her way towards her room, quietly slipping in.
Her gaze swept over the big luggages containing all she'd be needing, all she owned.
Of course, i'll be leaving home tomorrow, best i get as much sleep as i can.
she thought, climbing on top of her bed, falling asleep almost immmediately, that is, until she heard a loud bang on her room window. She jerking awake, looked around, frightened out of her mind, beads of sweat dropping from her forhead.
She slowly climbed out of her bed, moving towards the window she peeped out, caustiously looking around. A figure moved toward her, she quickly turned, intending to run before a muscular hand grabbed her from behind, muffling her frightened scream with his hand, she struggled violently against him.
Her attacker chuckled lightly. A familiar scent enveloped her, calming herself she turned to face her unexpected visitor.
< Vanp??
Is that you??
Even in the dark, she could make out his foolishly contagious grin.
<The one and only my good sir.
he said still grinning.
She shook her head, already starting to grin. Damn his stupid contagious grin!!
She moved back as he climbed into her room through the window.
<What are you doing here Vanp? You know my father would literally kill you if he finds you here, not to talk of the things Anna would do to my poor soul if she found her betroth in her twin sister's room at this time of the day.
He shrugged.
<I only came to say good bye since you'll be leaving at first light tomorrow.
<Hmm. And to see my sister too i'm sure.
she gazed at him suspiciously, causing him to grin again, she shook her head in a false display of hopelessness.
<Yes, that's what i thought.
she stared at him, wondering how someone as kind as him could fall in love with her sister. Don't get me wrong, i was happy that she had someone like him, perhaps he would be able to change her, maybe just a little bit....and it seemed her sister was in love with him too, though she had hated him before.
They talked a bit before he handed her a small box, warning her not to open it until she had left Vengium, before scurring off to Anna's room giddily.
She placed the box beside her luggages and lay down to sleep, hot tears streamed down her cheeks, finally letting them fall freely as she drifted back to sleep. A single thought remained:
If Only......
