Chapter 1: Awakening of Anubis

The ground quaked violently beneath Mersaydees’ feet, fissures tearing through the earth as the massive creature rose from the dark chasm. The battlefield, once chaotic with magic and battle, now fell into a stunned silence as the towering figure emerged fully into the night. The very air around them grew heavy, charged with ancient, unfathomable power.

A deep, rumbling growl echoed through the ruins of the Blood Moon Circus. It was more than just a sound—it was a force, shaking the bones of every living thing within its reach. Mersaydees staggered back, clutching the dimly glowing mirror shards, her heart pounding in her chest as her wide eyes took in the horror before her.

Towering over them all, clad in darkness and towering in stature, stood Anubis. His jackal-headed form glowed faintly with an ethereal, ancient light, his golden armor glinting beneath the eerie red moon that hung low in the sky. His eyes—deep, glowing orbs of crimson—seemed to burn with the fire of a thousand souls.

Mersaydees’ breath caught in her throat. This was no ordinary creature—this was Anubis, the ancient god of death and the afterlife, and he had been awakened by Mia’s reckless thirst for power. Mia had sought to control the forces of darkness, but in her arrogance, she had unleashed something far beyond even her understanding.

Mia, who had been so confident just moments before, now stood frozen, her face pale as she stared up at the god she had unwittingly summoned. For the first time, fear flickered in her blood-red eyes.

“Anubis...” she whispered, her voice trembling with awe and dread.

Anubis’ gaze slowly turned toward Mia, and the weight of his presence was unbearable. His voice, when it came, was like the shifting of tombstones, deep and ancient, echoing from the depths of time.

“You dare disturb my slumber,” he rumbled, his words causing the very earth to tremble. “You, who have meddled with powers beyond your reach.”

Mia swallowed hard, her mind racing. She had thought herself untouchable, but standing before this ancient god, she felt her power wane. She had unleashed Anubis thinking she could control him, but now she realized how wrong she had been.

“I—I brought you here!” Mia stammered, trying to regain her composure. “You owe me your allegiance. Together, we can—”

Anubis cut her off with a deep, guttural growl. “Foolish mortal. You are nothing more than a tool, a mere puppet of forces you cannot comprehend.”

With a wave of his hand, the shadows around him surged like living things, snaking toward Mia with terrifying speed. They coiled around her wrists, her legs, lifting her into the air with ease. Mia struggled, her magic flaring, but it was no use. Anubis’ power was absolute.

Mersaydees watched in horror, her mind reeling. Mia—Mia the Mirror, the powerful vampire who had nearly destroyed everything—was helpless in the grip of this ancient being. The very idea sent a chill down her spine.

But as terrifying as Anubis was, Mersaydees knew that if he wasn’t stopped, no one—not Mia, not herself, not anyone—would survive what was coming. She glanced around the battlefield. Thor, still recovering from Wanda’s attack, had Mjolnir in hand, his storm-filled eyes locked on the scene unfolding before him. Dr. Strange was already weaving intricate spells in preparation for what was to come. Selene, breathing heavily from her battle with Akasha, stood with her twin blades ready, her eyes sharp and focused.

But even with their combined strength, could they truly face a god?

Mia’s scream shattered the moment. The shadows tightened their grip around her, forcing her to her knees before Anubis. She clawed at the tendrils, her sharp nails digging into them, but it was futile. Anubis, with his glowing red eyes, watched her with detached indifference.

“I am not here to serve you, mortal,” Anubis growled, his voice like the rolling of thunder. “I am here to judge.”

With a flick of his wrist, the ground beneath Mia split open, revealing a swirling pit of darkness, the screams of the damned echoing up from its depths. Mia’s eyes widened in terror as she realized what was happening.

“No! No, you can’t—!”

But it was too late. With one final, swift motion, Anubis sent Mia plummeting into the chasm below, her screams fading as she was swallowed by the darkness.

The silence that followed was deafening.

Mersaydees stood frozen, her breath coming in shallow gasps as the full weight of what had just happened settled in. Mia was gone. The one enemy they had fought so hard to stop had been taken by Anubis. But this wasn’t a victory. This was something far worse.

Anubis turned his gaze toward Mersaydees, his eyes narrowing as he studied her. “You... are different,” he rumbled, his voice sending a shiver down her spine.

Mersaydees felt the ancient energy within her stir, the same power that had saved her from Mia’s clutches. But it wasn’t enough. Not against this.

Anubis stepped forward, his towering form casting a massive shadow over her. “I sense something within you... something old.”

Thor, now back on his feet, stepped in front of Mersaydees, Mjolnir raised high, crackling with lightning. “If you want her,” Thor said, his voice booming with authority, “you’ll have to go through me.”

Dr. Strange stood beside him, his hands glowing with arcane symbols, ready to unleash a barrage of magic. “This isn’t your domain, Anubis,” Strange said. “You don’t belong here.”

But Anubis only laughed, the sound deep and ancient, resonating with the very earth. “You think you can challenge me? I am Anubis, god of death, keeper of the afterlife. Your powers are insignificant.”

Selene, her eyes narrowed, stepped forward as well, her blades glinting in the dim light. “We’ve faced gods before,” she said coldly. “You’re no different.”

The tension in the air was palpable. The final battle wasn’t just for survival—it was for the soul of the world. And as Mersaydees looked into the eyes of Anubis, she knew this was just the beginning.
