Prologue: Run
Fire erupted from atop the hill, launching the fox-masked woman down into the forest below. Nothing she did hurt them. She tried to catch her breath after a long night of pain and struggle. She picked up her sword off the ground and began to sprint deeper into the forest and away from the others. Hobbling on all fours before gaining balance. She gasped for air with each step, all she saw were shapes and colors flying by, looking for any opening in which she could get away from them and hide within the depths of the forest, where no light shined. Hungry eyes were watching her through the bark. Their claws tapping against the wood, ready to get an easy meal. She stood out sharply from the surrounding area. The trees were dark and metallic, her dress was vibrant with reds and yellows. It was as if an Azalea was dropped in a pool of tar. There was only one place she could think of to get away: the port town nearby.
The woods bent and broke behind her as her assailants chased her. Her face planted on the ground. In a panic, she tried getting up, but she stumbled again and again. Her mind raced too much. In the turmoil her mask fell to the ground. She looked back at it briefly before turning her attention back to escaping. Her eyes glanced at the sky and there she found her escape. She firmly slammed her fist into the ground: The gem on her collar faintly shimmered as the winds carried her off the ground and above the trees. She took a moment to get her body properly orientated. She looked behind her to see where they were. A massive black hand reached for her, preparing to grab and end this chase once and for all. She turned to face it, blade outstretched. Her collar glowed once again and her sword lit up in a brilliant display of fire. It easily cleaved through the shadow hand, breaking it down into a black smoke that was carried off by the wind. This was not a victory however, as hundreds more smaller ones emerged from the trees. Thinking fast, she held out her other hand and propelled herself away with a large blast of flames.
She had no idea where she would land, but it’d be safer than here...
Envy left their sights. Greed recalled his hands, and they returned to his cape, which held an endless black void on its underside.
“Shame, I was hoping to have some fun with her too-” ??? announced before one of Greed’s hands silenced him.
“Keep your perverted statements to yourself, Gluttony. We have to keep moving. We are getting that collar tonight!"
Gluttony sighed "We've been doing this for hours and she could've gone to who knows where."
Greed interjected "That's exactly why we should keep LOOKING! If we dally any longer we could lose all hope of ever getting that collar."
Gluttony rolled his eyes "Alright...you're right. But can we at least stop at the bar while we're there?
"Do whatever you want." Greed said.
