The Recurring Dream
Masom pov:
I stood at the edge of serene valley its breathtaking beauty cost on me. My gaze was fixed on the cliff opposit where a vision of loveliness stood. Her golden brown locks cascade down her back like back like a river of sunset hues framing her heart shaped face and piercing hazel eyes. Our gazes met and she called out for me, her voice carried by the wind.
As i took a step forward my heart racing with an inexplicable longing she vanished. I watched on horror as she fell off the cliff. Her scream echoing through the valley. Time frooze. I shouted her name but it was lost in silence that followed. Suddenly my world shattered and I jolted awake gasping for air. The vivid image of girl Lingered etched in my mind like scar
I shook off the lingering unease trying to copose myself. The sound of rustling fabric and concerned voices broke the silence..
"Hey Masom! What's wrong? " Neil asked his brow furrowed.
Rihaz chimed in his mischievous "Did the valley's beauty haunt you again? "
I hesitated unsure how much to reveal but something about their genuine concern put me at ease. "It was the same dream". I admitted.
'The girl on the cliff'
Neil's expression turned serious.
" Again? You okay man? "
Rihaz snorted "of course he is not okay! He's lovesick for a ghost girl. "
" Hey shut it Rihaz! " I playfully punched his arm.
Neil intervented his tone measured " Seriously masom this dream been haunting you for so years. Maybe its time we look into it. "
Rihaz winked " Yeah or maybe Masom just needs to find a real girl to obsess over. "
As we sat around the campfire Neil's gaze lingered on me, his expression unreadable. Rihaz, meanwhile reagled us with joke, making us laugh.
"Hey Masom may be your dream girl's a sign you need to get out more." Rihaz teased.
Neil shot him a warning glance but Rihaz didn't notice.
I chuckled shaking my head " You're just jealous Rihaz. My dream girl is way out of your league. "
Neil's eyes narrowed his jaw clenched for a moment i thought I saw something flicker in his gaze - a hint of knowledge, a whisper of secrets kept.
"Masom seriously " Neil said his tone measured "have you considered that this dream might be more than just a dream".
Rihaz snorted " Oh come on Neil dont encourage his delusions".
As the night wore on the fire cracking I couldn't shake the feeling that Neil knew something I didn't.
It was the same dream i had been having since childhood. A recurring mystery that haunted me. Who was she? Why did she beckon me? Why did I feel an unshakeable sense of loss each time she fell?
As a soldier I had faced my share of battles but his dream was my longest-fought war. I couldn't shake the feeling that it held a secret, a hidden truth waiting to be unrevealed.
Lost in my thoughts I drifted to sleep.
Beyond the veil of dream
Where reality meets myth
A journey through the unseen
