None But Ourselves Can Free Our Minds
There is one thing that made me realize that only we can free ourselves from the things that we don’t want to become. The idea of “None But Ourselves Can Free Our Minds” is for us to reflect that personal liberation and mental freedom can only be achieved through our individual efforts. For us to understand the concept of this philosophy of mine, we must check the concepts of personal responsibility, self-awareness, overcoming fears and doubts, and adopting a growth mindset.
By the time I turned 15, with this information being abundant and distractions being so many, this idea held even greater significance for me. Growing up in an impoverished household, it taught me how to cope up and at the same time to overcome my fears. Back then, it was not easy for me to express what I feel or felt. I really thought that if I just coped up and not talked about what I felt it would sort it all out, and I was wrong. As time goes by, the realization hits me. The realization that I had the right to control my actions, my thoughts, and my own beliefs. I started to understand the idea of personal responsibility by achieving mental freedom and allowing myself to think and explore new things in my life without fear of failure and judgment.
However, I sometimes questioned whether my feelings were valid, often overthinking the validation of my emotions. I become overwhelmed by external circumstances and by the expectations of others. Reflecting on the mistakes I have made in the past, it is okay for us to acknowledge and validate ourselves for the mistakes we made from our past experiences. For my own sake, I need to ensure that my emotions are recognized and respected, both by myself and by others, to avoid repeating past mistakes and to foster healthier relationships. By the moment I realized that I could choose to prioritize myself first, I found that my feelings improved and I gained the peace that can free my mind.
To conclude, this essay serves as a means of expressing my emotions and explaining how I have overcome them through critical thinking. The idea of “None But Ourselves Can Free Our Mind” is a powerful reminder to us of mental liberation in the pursuit of personal collective freedom. By internalizing this power, we take responsibility for our own liberation and strive to become the best version of ourselves. As we free our minds, we also release ourselves from past mistakes that continue to haunt us.
