One of the best books I ever read
"I just finished reading 'What They Did to Us' and I'm still reeling from the experience. This thriller horror book is a masterclass in suspense, intrigue, and downright terror. The story follows [protagonist's name] as they uncover the dark secrets of [setting/location], and it's a wild ride from start to finish. The author's writing is crisp and evocative, conjuring up a sense of atmosphere that's both creepy and immersive. The characters are well-developed and complex, with motivations that are expertly woven throughout the narrative. What really stood out to me was the way the book expertly subverts genre expectations, blending elements of psychological thrillers, supernatural horror, and even a hint of sci-fi. Just when I thought I knew where the story was going, the author would throw in a curveball that would leave me gasping. The pacing is quick and relentless, making it impossible to put the book down. I devoured it in one sitting, and I'm still trying to process the twists and turns. If you're a fan of horror and thrillers, do yourself a favor and pick up 'What They Did to Us'. But be warned: you might not sleep afterwards..." "

"Finished this book in one sitting. It's that good. I didn't even know I'd gotten to the last update until that last line. I can't wait for the next update. The suspense, the mystery. I really didn't think they'd get poor Caleb, but he was sort of annoying though. "

"5/5 Stars - A Haunting Masterpiece that Left Me Breathless_ "I'm still reeling from the emotional aftermath of 'What they did to Us'. This masterfully crafted horror story has left an indelible mark on my psyche, and I'm not sure I'll ever recover. The author's skillful weaving of atmospheric tension, coupled with the uncanny ability to tap into our deepest fears, has created a narrative that's both terrifying and profoundly moving. The main character was expertly developed, the struggles and vulnerabilities making her relatable and human. As I navigated the dark, twisted world the author created ❤️💯😊 "

"This story is so beautiful. I finished it in one day so that says a lot. It's so nicely written and it's like you're there with them. I found out that the story is in a competition and all I have to say is - the courage to attempt such a unique blend of horror, mystery and thriller, and not just any type, but the legendary H. P. Lovecraft type? Please make this a hard copy, I will buy!"

"There's only one thing I need to know and that the author's thought process. How do you even think of something like this honestly? I'm over here trying to decipher the whole plot and it just keeps unfolding. This is like an intense Kdrama, I love it. "

"Okay, I am about to talk a whole lot because this book has made me feel things I haven't felt in a while. I hate that I even have to pause reading here so I can review, because my class is about to start but oh my God! First of, the book is about so much. There's this girl who's been kidnapped and had a surgery performed on her by this weird ass doctor who's obsessed in joining some kind of cult for doctors I think and he literally exchanged her eyes and she's here like so freaking scared and I'm scared too cause this is really traumatizing. I literally can't read this book at night, Dr. Rivers has to be the scariest thing about this book. Then there's her girlfriend/roommate, I love me some sapphic characters so ATTENTION: THERE ARE SAPPHICS HERE!!! So we have Sienna who's like so in love with her and needs to get her girlfriend back but barely escaped death and doesn't care at all. Then there's the officers: Derringer and Luke. I love Derringer because he's my Latino baby who's like a good cop and not a racist like half the characters in this book I tell you. The racism is HEAVY. He's a really deep character and I wish we explore him some more and not just leave him as a character based off June's disappearance. Then there's Luke, omg I actually hated the little twart immediately I saw him. He's white, entitled and spits garbage but I low-key feel he's a cutie at heart. Then there's our dear mother Nelia, I don't even know about her rn because she just looks like she has so much unpacked trauma about her, but IDK if this book will cover all of them separately. I really wish it did tbh because I'd love their own separate stories apart from revolving around June. I'm giving all 5 stars because this books makes me feel like how I felt when I watched GOT, you could read tons of chapters without June in them and still feel completely hooked. The drama is happening to everyone lol. Sorry for the long review. "
