Prologue
A year of quarantine, virtual school, and online friends comes to an end as an almost deafening sound of beeps from an alarm wake me up. I groggily reach over to my phone and sloppily turn it off, seeing the time 6:30am and the date August 16, 2021, the calendar note reads “First day of High School”. I stand up excited to finally be returning back to school after staying inside for what seemed like forever. An anxious cloud storms in my head, makes me immediately sit back down worrying what is to come this year. The reality of still having to wear masks and the fact I haven’t seen people other than my family in a year, realizing that this is the day I start the first of four years in High School this anxious cloud grows bigger. What new drama is gonna start, and what new people are gonna enter my life, new classes, and new changes too! Over the summer was when I finally went through puberty, I’m awkward enough as it is, but know I have longer legs, an athletic body type, blonde highlights in my dark hair, and no more braces. I hold my hands in my messy hair worrying about everyone old and new peoples opinion on me, as well having to get used to everything over again. Thoughts flooding my head like water filling a ballon till it pops. In the middle of this mini meltdown I hear the jingles of my dogs collar, a short yet long Yorki mix coming to break me from my own mind. I pick up my dog and “Selly let’s get ready.”, standing up and heading towards my bathroom I sigh and begin to get ready for the next four years of my life.
