Chapter 1
A female figure was knelt on the cold, hard ground, her heart pounding in her chest as she cradled a bloodied figure in her arms.
The stone beneath them was slick with crimson. His blood seeped into the fabric of her gown, mingling with her tears as they fell silently onto his ashen face.
"Y-you... can't leave me like this. I-i love you... I love you more than anything"
y/n said. Tears streamed down her face unchecked and unashamed, mingling with the blood on her hands.
His eyes softened , and he draw a shaky breath, the effort clearly paining him.
"I... I... love... you... too. I love you... more than... you could ever think. I also don't want to leave you..." The man whispered, his voice barely more than a rasp.
"B-but..." He paused*
"But destiny... wanted... something else. Maybe destiny didn't want us to be together" He said while he brushed her cheek, whipping away a tear.
"N-no. Don't talk like that. W-we're meant to be together. We... we promised" She cried her voice breaking as she looked down at him, her vision blurred by tears.
"Some... promises... are... meant to be broken" He replied, his voice growing weaker.
"N-no... no! please." sobbing "I-I... want you... to be... happy... even it's without me" He paused, his breathing becoming more labored, each word a struggle.
y/n's heart shattered at his words, the pieces cutting into her soul like shards of glass. "N-no...no! Please don't say that. How can I live without you?" She whispered, her voice raw with pain.
"You can. You're... stronger than you know. You'll find happiness again. Promises me y/n" He replied, his voice fading as his strength ebbed away. Before she could respond he spoke again
"P-please... Promise me mio cara, that you will...live your life... happily. I don't want you to live your life... with sorrow because of me. Will... you... fulfill my wish? For me, please" He waited for her response with pleading eyes.
"I-I promise. I-I... will live... my life... happily" She hesitated but finally replied while are streaming down through her cheek.
Two years later
The morning sunlight filtered through the curtains of princess y/n's chamber, casting a gentle light on the room. With a heavy sigh, she rose from her bed and began her morning routine. After getting dressed. She stood before the large mirror in her chamber, staring at her reflection.
The once- bright eyes that had sparkled with joy now appeared distant and subdued, obscured by a quite lingering sadness. As she continued to gaze into the mirror a soft knock broke her thoughts.
"Your highness, may I come in?" It was Elara y/n's maid and her close friend. y/n's took a deep breath, pushing down her emotions, and forced a small smile. "Yes, you may" Elara entered, bowing respectfully.
"Good morning, Your Highness. Are you ready? King and Queen are waiting for you at the breakfast table." y/n nodded "I'm ready. I'll be there in a moment.
" Okay, Your Highness." Elara began to turn toward the door but hesitated, glancing back at y/n. "Your Highness, the weather is beautiful today. It's been a while since you've been outside the palace. Perhaps you'd like to explore the kingdom for a bit? I think it could help lift your spirits"
y/n thought for a moment, her eyes drifting to the window. The idea of going out-escaping the suffocating walls of the palace, if only for a while-seemed appealing. "That sounds good. I think I will, after breakfast." Elara smiled gently, pleased with the answer. "I'm glad, I'll prepare everything for later, Your Highness." With a final bow, she left the room.
After a moment, y/n made her way to the breakfast table. As she entered the dining hall, her father, King Alistair, and her mother, Queen Isolade were already seated. They both looked up as she approached. "Good morning, y/n." King Alistair greeted her warmly. y/n forced another small smile, nodding politely. "Good morning, Father. Good morning, Mother."
"Did you sleep well?" Queen Isolade asked, her voice soft with concern.
"Yes, I slept well." y/n replied, though the fatigue in her voice suggested otherwise.
Queen Isolade nodded in approval. "Good. Sit and have some breakfast, dear." y/n sat down feeling the familiar weight settle over her as she began to eat.
After breakfast
The stables of Lysoria were a bustling hub of activity, with stable hands tending to the royal horses and preparing them for various duties. As y/n approached, the familiar scent of hay and leather greeted her, bringing with it a sense of comfort.
"Good day, Your Highness." Greeted Marcus, the head stable master, bowing respectfully. He was with a thick beard and a kind smile. His hands calloused from years of caring for the finest steeds in the kingdom.
"Good day, Marcus" y/n replied, her eyes already scanning the stalls for her beloved horse "Is Zephyr ready?"
"Aye, just about." Marcus answered, gesturing toward a nearby stall where a magnificent brown stallion stood, it's coat gleaming and mane neatly brushed. Zephyr whinnied softly upon seeing y/n stamping his hoof in eager anticipation.
y/n's face softened as she approached the horse, running a gentle hand how his strong neck. "Hello, old friend." She murmured affectionately "Ready for an adventure?"
Zephyr nickered in response, nudging her shoulder with his muzzle.
Marcus chuckle, watching the interaction with fondness. "He's been restless all morning, seems he knew you'd be taking him out today."
y/n smiled, the first genuine smile had worn all day. "Then let's not keep him waiting."
