Summary

It starts like this, one shared hotel room, a photographer, a fired bodyguard, and a couple of little kisses, but you see this isn't where it begins.

Love and Elevators Don't Mix! Pt 1

As I'm walking into the hotel I'll be staying at for Mardi Gras I stop and see a perfect opportunity to take a photo. I stop and pull my camera around me lifting it to my face and trying to get the perfect light as I take the photo I see my friend Ann at the counter who had been working in New Orleans since she got out of high school. In the bar, I wave at her as I pass the area. Walking up to the check-in counter for the hotel I sign in and head towards the stairs I look at my slip and remember I'm on the 23rd floor so I head towards the elevator. I stand there waiting for the elevator to arrive as I pull out my phone. I hear a DING! I look up and see the elevator doors finish opening and I walk in. The phone is still in hand and it buzzes. I look down seeing a “Phone is at twenty percent. Turn to low power mode?" The elevator opens and a guy walks in as the doors close. I sit and think about it for a second then remember I am almost two minutes away from my room. I shut off my phone and am about to put it away before the lights go out, the elevator jolts down and stops, and then I hear a loud thud. It had only been seconds before the lights turned back on and I turned to see the person holding the rails with both hands back to the wall. As the person realizes I am staring at them I look towards the buttons on the elevator and find the one that says “call for help” I look over smiling “Hay we should probably press this right” I say in the politest way I can. He looks at me and frowns “No we are going to sit here and wait till someone notices we are gone… yea press the button stupid!” I press the button for a second expecting something to happen but nothing. As we sit there I realize they look like someone I've met before like “Nila?” He looks at me and smirks “Yeah that's my name, do I know you?” I looked at him surprised he didn't recognize me “I'm Zuri remember? We never got along” I make a slight smile at him. Nila groans annoyed, the elevator jolts and goes dark for a second I fall to the ground closing my eyes. I feel something on top of me and I open my eyes seeing Nila lying on top of me.
