"I am glued to this story and storyline.Honestly usually I be getting books on mysteries and never really reading them or giving them a chance but this one THIS ONE IS FRICKING LOVELY also I love my girl character and how good she is at flirting. I really wish this becomes a comic or a novel or even a game like the elmwood trail cause not even joking I love it and I would gladly continue reading this and loving it"

A unique read
"This story offers quite a unique storytelling method that I am not very familiar with but that I enjoy nevertheless. The dialogue is very well-written and feels very realistic. Also, I love how interactive this is, it makes it quite different from everything I've read so far. The chapters are a bit too long for my taste but then again that might be necessary for this type of format. All in all, the story is very intriguing, with well-written, unique characters that keep you interested in seeing what happens next. Quite an engaging read. "
Yikes!
""Great story! This style isn’t usually my go-to, but I enjoyed it. I got a bit lost at one point, though I caught back up. Watching Luna put herself in danger, going on dates to track down the serial killer ‘Spider,’ added so much tension! Highly recommended." "
Absolutely amazing!!!
"The plot and the story line are great and so are the characters!! It's a quite new format , like classic scripts I like how you tried something unique. Loved it ✨"
Fun to Read
"This was fun to read. It was interesting to see the different player options and the directions the story could take. This would be a really fun book for readers who like mystery/crime novels. I highly recommend. "
Absolutely Hooked!
"The plot is suspenseful and unpredictable, keeping me on the edge of my seat, but what really blew me away were the characters. Luna, the main character, is brilliantly crafted. She’s smart, fearless, and perfectly flawed, making her feel so real and relatable. She’s not just some "detective girl", she has strengths and vulnerabilities that make you root for her even harder. The tension and mystery in her life make every moment with her intense and gripping. Luna’s romantic interests add so much depth to the story. Evan brings warmth and support, showing a tender side of the story that balances out all the suspense. Miguel, on the other hand, has his own unique dynamic with Luna, adding layers to both her character and the unfolding drama. I think Luna need romance with Miller too! These relationships feel fresh and contribute to Luna’s journey in a way that’s both - emotional and profound. This story is a powerful blend of suspense, romance, and raw character-driven storytelling. Highly recommend to anyone who loves a story that’s both thrilling and deeply human!"
A great interactive novel!
"Wasn’t sure about reading a story in script format, especially since you don’t see many like that on Inkitt. But after the first few chapters, I found myself adapted. It was almost like I was guiding the story along with Luna. Loved the chatting choices tho😄 Made me feel like I am looking through someone’s phone 👀 Samantha’s journey is compelling and inspiring. As a woman in a male-dominated profession, she faces constant skepticism, and it’s clear she has to work twice as hard to prove herself. I felt genuinely connected to her struggles 💔 (At first I thought Officer Miller genuinely hated her) If you’re looking for something different with a strong female lead who feels real and relatable, this story is a fantastic read!"
Good
"I’m not much of a mystery reader but I can say I liked this. Although it's confusing since it looks like a game and there is not much description like the stories I'm used to reading, the pictures help. I think it’ll be much better as a game. The writer did say its a game tho🤔"
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
" This story was such a treat! As a fan of thrillers, I loved the fresh twist—a journalist using a dating app to hunt down a killer. Luna (Samantha) the main character, is sharp and determined, making her easy to root for as she dives into this risky investigation. Her interactions with other characters like Miguel and Evan were fun and added a lot of personality to the story. Miguel, in particular, was more charismatic and memorable, while Evan brought a lighter charm. Officer Miller also stands out as a realistic character, challenging Luna’s determination and adding tension to her journey. His skepticism and “protectiveness” create an interesting dynamic, making Luna’s mission feel even riskier and more intense. The pacing is perfect, with each chapter leaving you eager to know what happens next. The dialogue-driven style really works here, keeping the story moving quickly and making it feel like you’re right there with Luna. There’s also a subtle layer of realism with Luna’s challenges as a woman in her field, which adds depth without slowing the action. So! If you enjoy fast-paced mysteries filled with suspense and romance, this one is a must-read. It’s clever, intense, and had me hooked from start to finish💖"
Has a lot of potential!
"Obvious Pros: Plot: The plot has a lot of potential. The idea of combining the search for a criminal through a notional dating simulator is very promising. I look forward to seeing the final version combined with match-3 elements, as it's hard to visualize the final product at this stage. As for the characters: Luna (protagonist): A confident journalist, knows what she wants, and has potential. Perhaps attention should be paid to making sure that in situations where she is supposed to act like a journalist, her actions and behavior are consistent with that role. The same applies to the informant in the first part of chapter one. Removing repetitive words can make his speech clearer. Emmett: The flirting scene with him looks funny. If the goal was to make the flirting more “cliched”, it succeeded, but at some points the phrases seem stretched out. If the plan was to simplify the character, it worked until the moment he answered his “victim's” phone call. The threats in his performance seem a bit unrealistic for such a catcher. Miguel: A big plus for the Miguel scene. The character turned out to be vivid, corresponds to his Mexican nature and in general gives the impression of a hero with a twist. Evan: The scene with him is very informative and enjoyable. Lots of light chit-chat, a nice date. As a character, he doesn't seem too complex, which adds to his charm. Too bad the shower scene abruptly cut off without warning. Conclusion: Overall, the story has a lot of potential, and I'm sure that small tweaks will make it even more successful. Thank you for the opportunity to review your project. I look forward to seeing the final version of it. P.S dunno why it says I read 0 chapters, I read chapter 2 two times actually..."
[DATE]tective
"[DATE]tective features the script for an upcoming visual game novel and introduces us to the world of crime in where our main protagonist, the journalist Samantha (undercover name "Luna") is inspecting the case of a serial killer targeting the victims through a dating site. In all fairness, at the beginning I had trouble to get along with the script-style the novel introduces us to. For the readers to really get the concept you have to carefully read through the notice chapter and to remind yourself of all the symbols when it comes to choices that affect the storyline. However, once I got the hang of it, it was totally worth it. I could see how much effort was put into the dialogue, so that most of the time, no matter which decision was made, the follow-up dialogue tied in neatly. It's hard to do that and for that alone, you deserve respect. I advise other readers to just give it a try and not let yourself be distracted/confused by the script writing-style. As of right now, only three chapters are out, but I think those three chapters alone showed me that this crime story bears potential. I already have my eye on someone as the possible suspect, but for the sake of no spoilers, I'm gonna keep quiet about it. Give it a try at ready, everyone! :)"
Different and Unique
"I loved the pictures and how our choices had an effect in the story. It is very unqiue to everything else i've seen on here. I loved how the chemistry was there. I do wish the speech parts had been a bit clearer, i did get a bit confused around there. Overall really good. Keep up the great work."
Strange but impressive
"The writing style really got me at the begging. Really confusing but I eventually got used to it. Though it’s very good. Reminds me of a chat ai kinda thing but it’s great overall. I can’t wait to carry on reading this book. X Karmen Kay"
Datetective
"Very interesting storyline like the interesting format used in the writing almost like it is in classic script format it has a very engaging plot that keeps you interested :) "
Different format, great premise
"There's a serial killer on the loose, and a journalist goes under cover to help search for suspects. And then a hot cop enters the investigation.... The premise is great, but the format takes some getting used to. "
There’s Room for Greatness
"[DATE]tective offers an incredible experience thanks to its unique writing style. It’s a script that offers multiple choices, an approach that I found very appealing once I got used to it. The story is a fun and engaging break from your usual detective story, in which a journalist called Luna hunts down a serial killer called the “Spider”; he takes women on dates and then kills them in a nonviolent fashion. The premise is engaging, and there’s lots of room for greatness, but its spicy scenes don’t add much; in fact, they may feel forced at times. Maybe it’s because I’m not a fan of erotic scenes. However, I advise the author to avoid the repetitive use of such scenes. Overall, it’s quite the incredible book, and it’s definitely worth a read! "
My Review
"This book has been fun to read, what I like about it, is how it quickly catches the reader’s attention."
Script is not my favorite
"Personally, reading scripts is not my cup of tea. I find it exhausting and just not stimulating enough for the imagination. I get it—it's a script for an interactive novel, but I'd much rather read it as a narrative or even a screenplay, something with at least a sprinkling of character and setting descriptions to give my mind some visuals to work with. That said, the story itself is engaging and intriguing. The characters feel well-drawn, each with their own quirks and charm, and I found myself genuinely rooting for the main heroine. If it were written in a different format, I'd probably devour it happily. Unfortunately, I’m not really a fan of this kind of game, so I’m unlikely to find out how it all unfolds. But still, props to the author—it's a solid foundation for a captivating adventure, even if the format isn’t my personal favorite."
Nice work
"I’m really glad that I found this book as it is very engaging. You are doing a fantastic job. The plot progression is really well executed. Characters are well-finished and dialogues seem very real. Keep up the great work. "
