Introduction
Ducuria was once a beacon of power and unity, ruled by the wise and revered King Duncan. For decades, the realm flourished under his leadership, growing into a formidable empire respected by allies and feared by rivals. Duncan envisioned a legacy built on loyalty, harmony, and the hope that his children would lead Ducuria into an era of greater prosperity. However, as Duncan aged, his vision for a unified empire disintegrated right in front of him, not because of external enemies, but because of issues within his own bloodline. His five children, each unique in their ambitions and ideals, grew increasingly at odds with one another, their desires slowly tearing Ducuria apart.
Garrick, Duncan’s eldest and heir apparent, was a warrior at heart. A fierce commander and a strict enforcer of order, he sought strength above all, believing Ducuria needed a powerful hand to preserve peace. However, his harsh sense of justice often placed him at odds with Duncan’s more tempered rule, creating rifts with his siblings.
Evasia, the elegant and ambitious second child, governed the northern realm with poise and vision, seeing in the northern land of vast potential. She believed her leadership could harness its beauty and resources, becoming increasingly discontent with sharing power.
Vrirael, the third child--calculative and ever-prepared for conflict. Commanding the largest army, she ruled the southwest realm with ruthless ambition; always anticipating enemy threats and aiming to prove herself as Ducuria’s strongest defender. Her fierce nature often clashed with her siblings, and she saw the division of the realm as her opportunity to forge her own legacy.
Unarion, the fourth son; the quiet protector who was drawn to the forests and rivers of the east—a place of myths and natural beauty. More interested in safeguarding his land’s natural harmony than expanding his influence, Unarion often regarded his siblings’ ambitions with quiet trepidation.
Kristofer, Duncan’s youngest son, was born into his father’s old age and was the heart of Duncan’s vision for unity. Unlike his siblings, Kristofer harbored no desire for power. Instead, Duncan saw in him a quiet strength, one that could preserve Ducuria’s ideals and history. Duncan assigned him Ducuria’s only remaining territory, a small but sacred region containing its oldest structures and archives—a symbol of the empire’s legacy.
When his health failed, Duncan knew his kingdom could not withstand the internal conflicts brewing among his children. In an irrevocable act of painful sacrifice, he divided Ducuria into five realms, giving each child a portion to lead. Garrick, Evasia, Vrirael, and Unarion would shape their new territories to their ideals, while Kristofer would inherit what remained of Ducuria, tasked with guarding the empire’s rich history and traditions.
On his deathbed, Duncan lay attended only by Queen Elara and Kristofer, as his four other children deliberately kept their distance. They awaited his death not with grief, but with an eager impatience; for only then would the long-promised division of the realm take effect. Heartbroken by Ducuria’s disintegration, Duncan entrusted Kristofer with safeguarding the heart of the empire. When his siblings pressured him to sever ties with the past, Kristofer finally consented to relinquish the name Ducuria, renaming his land Kribet—a bittersweet concession made solely to preserve Ducuria’s story and spirit. Though fragmented, Kristofer remained the keeper of the kingdom’s legacy, bearing a quiet hope that one day the fractured realms might reunite under a common bond.
This event would come to be known throughout the realm as The Fall. Ducuria—a kingdom that no longer remained united by name but held together through the memory of what it had once been and the silent, enduring hope that one day they would revive unity.
