Prologue
Outside a convenience store, in the middle of the night, a young teen Itsuko was leaving a bag in hand. His black hair, and eyes were really common in Japan, his only defining characteristic was his black cowl fleece hoodie that provided some distinction among the crowds of Japan. Inside was some instant ramen he was hoping to live off of for the next week or two.
“Yum,” he thought out loud sarcastically. His voice was that of a tired teen, slightly deep for his age. Even just looking at the bag made him sick, he thought. Pushing away his thoughts, he started to walk home. Eventually, when he made it to the final crosswalk before his apartment, something strange happened. As he was humming a song, a sudden ringing in his ears.
“Great,” he mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck. It must be tinnitus, he assured himself, groaning at the thought. As the walk sign switched on, the ringing only got worse the closer he got to the other side, eventually forcing him to stop in the middle of the road.
“Gah!” he shouted, putting his hand against his ears. He bent over, the pain too great to ignore even if he was in the middle of the road. Suddenly he was whisked away into a black void.
“Huh?” he gasped. What happened? he thought. There was nothing around him other than the black abyss. This isn’t normal, even for a kid like him who’s seen his fair share of strange events. Was he dead? Itsuko’s worries were only made worse by a loud booming voice calling out to him.
“Itsuko!” The voice cried out.
“Itsuko!” The voice repeated its cry. Itsuko faced towards the direction he heard the voice coming from. What he saw, it just didn’t make sense, it was like a golden glowing helix always changing shape, it was definitely something higher then he was.
“Who are you! Where am I!” Itsuko cried out for an answer. The voice responded instantly.
“I am what you humans call, a ‘god’ one of many, but of no name.”
“No name?” Itsuko said, confused on what the god means by “no name”.
“What that has to do with me then?” he asked. The helix grew, almost like taking a breath in.
“You, Itsuko Higani, are the centerpiece of my plan. Do you accept it?” The voice spoke coldly, yet authoritatively.
“What if I don’t want to? Then what would you do?” Itsuko asked.
“What’s done is done, do you accept?” The voice repeated that last part in the same tone he said before.
“The hell you mean ‘what’s done is done’, huh?” he shouted angrily. A screen suddenly appeared in front of him. It displayed a picture of a body bag, surrounded by flashing lights, and emergency response teams.
“You are dead,” the voice stated. Itsuko put his hands to his mouth.
“I-Im dead…,” he whispers. Disbelief filled his body, and his stomach grew sick.
“You sick bastard!” Itsuko shouted, sprinting to the helix like a mad man. Itsuko, running to the voice, jumping up while forming a fist.
“Die!” he screamed, throwing a punch at the helix. A golden collection of geometry forming like a transparent shield to block his punch. A sound screaming, wailing through the abyss, as Itsuko’s fist was in contact with the shield. When the wailing ended, the wailing changed pitch, sounding like it was reversing.
“Wha-” Itsuko said shocked, unable to get his sentence out before the shield shattered, breaking into more geometric shapes before launching Itsuko back. Itsuko fell on his back, wincing in pain as he struggled to get up. The voice asked Itsuko the question once more.
“Do you accept?” It asked. Itsuko who had one arm on his knee, and one on the other arm’s elbow groaned.
“...Fine,” he said hesitantly.
“Subject’s consent granted, transmitting to the world —------,” he said. The words at the end were censored in some strange, unknown, language. Suddenly the pain of a thousand needles pricking Itsuko’s skin rippled through his body. He screamed as he stared at his hand, breaking it into hundreds of geometric shapes before he finally evaporated to be sent off into another dimension or world.
