Chapter 1

“In the realm of Elais, a world where magic intertwines with politics, espionage reigns supreme. Over the years a group called Menticiders, have destroyed and taken control of realms one by one with their leader Danny Vogel. Danny has gained the name Angel of Death, as they made every creature shake with fear across all 82 realms. They kill anyone with no remorse or mercy, no matter what,” said an old man, he looked about in his 90s. His clothes were dirty rags, and his head was a wheat field with no wheat, his two front teeth were missing, and his tanned skin was sweating in the sun’s burning power. His eyes were white indicating his blindness.

“Come on Emily,” said a boy with dirty blonde hair neatly presented and he was more well dressed than the old man. He had a slight foreign accent. His brown eyes were sharp and he looked like he had showers everyday and ate whatever, whenever. He wore a black suit with matching pants. “This old pathetic fool wants nothing but trouble.”

“I should be the one to remind you of this Max,” asked a girl, about the boy’s age but looked about only two years younger, her wavy chocolate hair rested nicely on her shoulders and her green eyes full of curiosity, wonder and hope. She wore a silky red dress with thin straps, matching her scarlet lipstick and her neat eyeliner, “I’m not the one who gives money to every beggar or person that asks for it”

“Hey! I’m being humane,”answered Max, looking slightly annoyed by the truth, “plus most peasants only blabber on fake information.”

“So that’s why you give them heran everytime?” Emily said, Max grumbled words that no ear could distinguish. “Let’s just focus on this stupid mission,” mutters Max under his breath. “Welcome back among us buddy, you’re speaking understandable words once more,” quipped Emily. They both walked into a bar with big fancy letters at the top writing “The Grand Lounge.” “Holy sh-” started Emily but was interrupted by Max “No swearing or you owe me 50 heran.”

The inside was clearly intended for rich and powerful creatures. The loud bar was filled with different creatures from around all realms: elves, gnomes, Tig-man’s, humans, enhanced, and so many more from the 82 different realms. The bar had marble tables and countertops, along with the richest valuables from realms: a deep blue heart at the center of a silver crown, the oldest spell book in all realms written by the first enhanced themselves, the goggles that were made from future technologies that came from the first destroyed realm by the Menticiders. “This place is….” whispered Max under his breath. “There’s no words to describe how…ugly this place is,” blurted out Emily, “I was going to say amazing out of respect.” said Max, “but, yeah this place is horrid”

“This place gives me the ick,” answered Emily, “It’s rich, and fancy that it’s just stupid.”

“I bet everyone else would think that we have the worst taste,” scoffed Max.

“I would take it as a compliment, “ smirked Emily, “Now let’s focus on this mission.”

Both advanced further in the exotic bar, their eyes sharp and not missing a single detail within their eyesight. Emily walked more to the back of the bar, the light got dimmer and creatures gambling for heran were silent as each individual didn’t show a betrayal of emotions. Their eyes were dark, their lips or those with lips were pressed firm together. Soon she passed infront of the auction items, “Max i found them,” said Emily as she pressed a black earbud in her ear and hearing Max respond “Copy that I’ll be right there.”

Emily’s eyes kept their place on a specific item, a book. It wasn’t any ordinary book, it was leather brown with gold almost like toothpaste blobs on the top and bottom of the cover. It was sealed with leather straps enveloping its contour, at the center a symbol of two cards, with two A’s at the center of each.

“It’s a real beauty isn’t it?” a voice whispered in Emily’s ear. It was sweet, honey like yet had a hint of mischief, destruction and annihilation. Before Emily could turn around, slim hands were on her waist, “Shh, don’t turn around princess,” continued the voice. Emily could smell a soft, sweet perfume coming off the person behind her, but Emily felt a cool, sharp metal blade in her back, “Most likely a dagger,” thought Emily. The music in the background started to play a soft, sweet, and gentle sound. People started pairing off dancing together in synchronization.

“Would be a pity to waste a dance on a beautiful woman,” the voice said. Emily swore she could hear the smirk in the person’s voice, but before Emily could utter a single word she was spun around to face the person. It was a woman, a beauty. She had dark red hair that went about two inches below her shoulders that was parted to the side, ocean blue eyes. She wore a black sleeveless, low cut dress, one side covered more one leg than the other. A smirk was plastered on her face, she had hid the dagger in her golden bracelet matching the shiny gold necklace. “Who are you?” asked Emily, now the woman’s hands were on her waist making her dance slowly to the music. “Just enjoy this dance with me,” responds the woman, smirking. The music continued, and both women danced to the song as it got faster, faster and faster.

Emily’s eyes took notice of a tiny tattoo on the woman’s shoulder, it was an upside down dagger going through a bloody crown. When the lady saw that Emily finally saw and understood who she truly was, her grip got tighter and her smirk widened. Both ladies looked deep in each other’s eyes, daring one another to make a move.

“I know you know who I am,” whispered the woman, her red lips next to Emily’s ears, making her whole body tense up. “I know you know that I know who you are,” she responded, keeping her voice cool, and collected.

The woman smirked, almost with satisfaction, “That book is going to be mine, sweetheart.”

“I am not your sweetheart,” Emily’s eye’s glaring slightly

“Feisty, I like that.”

“You and the Menticiders will not destroy the rest of the realms.”

This only made the woman grin. The music gets faster, drowning out any other creatures in the background. The woman made Emily spin around then spun her close so that her chest was against Emily’s back.

Emily saw that the rest of the women’s team was quietly sneaking the book away, but when she tried to go after them the woman abruptly pulled her back in and kissed her. This completely throws Emily off, her mind goes blank and everyone else disappears around them. Her mind for some reason only focuses on the women’s soft lips on hers. When the woman pulls away, an evil grin on her face but she quickly takes a step back fading into the crowd. Emily shortly comes back to her senses looking away, noticing the book is gone from its clear case. She runs out the bar and looks everywhere but no sign of that mysterious woman and her team of Menticiders, it makes her blood boil, she failed once more. Now the Menticiders are one step closer to destroying realms with a snap of their fingers.

Unbenounced to her, in the distance deep blue eyes filled with coldness were watching her from the top of the roof, “I’ll see you real soon sweetheart. I promise you that.” With a deadly smirk the woman disappears in the shadows of the rooftops.
