Chapter I (I had a girlfriend once)
I had a girlfriend once. She was cute lively, understanding, full of passion, kind to everyone, she helped every man in need. She was the one. Kind loving caring. She made the most delicious pancakes, every Sunday morning I would wake up and feel that sweet smell. Sweet smell of her cooking and the sweet smell of her hair as she was kissing my forehead, while I was waking up, every day, every weekend, every week, I’d want it for all eternity. She was truly the one, I thought about marrying her. Then came the most memorable day of my life. The day that ended all. I could see the little signs of her distress this morning, she was acting different, kind of nervous, but also like if she was scared slightly.
I asked her: - Honey, is something up with you, did something happen at work? -No, everything’s fine, don’t worry yourself, you silly goose. - she responded with a soft smile. Looking into her hazel eyes I was still a little worried, but that overwhelming feeling of love came over me quite quickly. How did I end up with such a perfect woman? I was a loser my whole life, it was only recently, that I started working out and convincing myself to meet new people. I never expected, such a miracle to happen! Not ever once in my life!
This was the day, we had been planning for weeks. We took a week leave from our jobs, me - civil engineer, her a brilliant dentist. We were going hiking, I loved hiking, she loved forests. I loved her, loved her hazel eyes, hair as the night, when the moon is in a waxing crescent, her smile brighter than all the stars, her lips like the setting sun in late June over the Atlantic ocean, her silky smooth skin, the colour of her pancakes…
We got into the car as planned.
I texted my mom - ,,Hey”. She took the phone out of my hand.
- This phone’s the reason we talk so little. -What is she doing? I pondered.
-Babe, I just wanted to text mum, that we are on the road. Would you mind giving it back, sweetheart.
-No, noone can stand between us now.
