Intro

Third person's pov

“I never loved you. In fact I hate you now. Let me go!” She yells.

“So double faced, aren't you, love? But sorry that won't happen. You can take time to love me but you can't go. I will never let go of what's mine.”

Six months ago

The Hartfield’s mansion is full of chaos. Everyone is busy with the decorations and arrangements. No, there's no wedding or engagement ceremony. Not today at least but the son of Carter's Corporation is arriving to fix the engagement date with their elder daughter. Of course everyone was happy because the first daughter in the family is about to get married.

Emma Hartfield.

Brought up with so much love from her parents. Her nature and lifestyle is nothing like that of a billionaire’s daughter. She likes to live simple. Likes to help others and loves animals immensely. When Emma's father informed her about the proposal from Mr. Carter, she instantly rejected it. Her parents didn't force this decision on her, they just showed her the picture of Carter's heir and Emma bobbed her head up and down, agreeing to the proposal.

Why?

Because he's her first love. After agreeing she runs to her room and throws herself on her fluffy bed and covers her face on the pillow.

And the funny part is they were never in a relationship before nor did they know each other's name. Emma realises she didn't ask his name from her father this time too. Even if she doesn't know about the man's name and it has been eight years they've met each other, still Emma has him imprinted on her heart.

She stares at the photo in her hands. She thinks he has grown more handsome. He looks more muscular and manly. She almost didn't recognise him but one thing that she would never forget is, his dark amber eyes. She has never seen someone with that colour of eyes. It's rare but he has a strange glint in his eyes.

She turns the picture and there it's written, his name… Ian Carter.

“Ian” The word rolls so smoothly through her tongue that she giggles. She crosses her fingers and closes her eyes.

“Thank you, Jesus.”

Eight years ago Emma's hope was shattered when she came to know that he left… without telling her and without leaving any trace behind. She thought it's over, it's all over. But he's back for her.

So today he's coming and Emma's more than happy and nervous. She never confessed her feelings to the guy, because she was confused what if he's just being friendly but she regretted not telling him that she loves him.

She puts on a black dress, and does a little makeup. She lets her dark brown hair open and smiles enthusiastically.

“He's here.” Olivia says, Emma's little sister.

“Do I look good?” Emma asks, standing in front of the mirror turning sideways.

“You look gorgeous. Ian will scoop you off from your feet and take you with him.” Olivia muses and Emma chuckles.

Emma widens her eyes when the waitress comes to take her to the visiting hall. She nods and leaves the room after taking one last glance at herself. She takes a deep breath in front of the visiting hall, preparing herself. Olivia nudges her, gesturing to her to go inside and she nods.

She walks inside the hall and glances at the faces that are staring at her.

Her father and mother were sitting together on one side with proud faces and on the other side a couple is sitting as same aged as her own parents, she assumes they are Mr. and Mrs. Carter. Her breath hitches when she sees him sitting in the centre sofa spreading his legs on either side. Sitting proudly as he owns the place. He looks intimidating so different from eight years ago. He doesn't have that soft and gentle vibe he had back then. In fact the person sitting in front of her is nothing like the person she fell in love with.

And what makes Emma crazy is the guy's intense gaze that makes her feel naked in front of him and a smirk as if he's waiting for this day for a very long time.

And Emma doesn't know that it's true. He indeed was looking forward to this moment from a very long time ago.

“Come Emma sit.” Her father says, smiling.

Emma nods and sits next to her father after greeting the guests except Ian. She turns to the right and Ian is still staring at her as if no one else exists in the hall. She looks away, unable to hold the intense eye contact.

“Your daughter is so beautiful, Mr. Hartfield.” Mrs. Carter muses, smiling at Emma which she returned.

“I agree we'll be lucky to have your daughter as our daughter in law and Ian's wife.” Mr. Carter says, giving a tight lipped smile.

“We are equally lucky too. Ian is doing great in business. I'll be proud to have him as my son in law.” Mr. Hartfield utters.

Emma sits fiddling with her fingers bored by their business talks. She snaps her head when her name is taken. Everyone is looking at her with a smile and Ian is staring at her with an amused expression.

“Huh, sorry I didn't hear.” She says, sheepishly.

“Your mom was telling you to show Ian around the mansion. I think you were busy thinking about something, how cute.” Mrs. Carter coos.

She smiles nervously and gets up. She waves her hands at Ian because now he seems lost.

“Come?” She says pointing outside.

Ian chuckles and gets up with a nod.

“Excuse me.” Ian says and Emma feels butterflies inside her tummy because of the deep voice. They walk side by side and Emma looks up at her soon to be fiance.

Amber coloured siren eyes, long nose, love shaped lips, chiselled jawline and Emma can't even describe his body. So muscular and intimidating.

“Enjoying staring, aren't we?” Ian utters standing in front of Emma.

“I-I wasn't staring.” Emma stutters.

“Is that so?” Ian locks his hand behind and leans in to match Emma's height. She gulps.

“You didn't greet me in there.” Ian says.

“B-because you were staring at me!” Emma utters.

“Just like you were staring me right now?” Ian asks.

“I wasn't staring!” She exclaims and Ian laughs. Emma's heart beat quickens by the melodic voice.

“Do you remember me?” Emma asks, pointing at herself. Ian's expression turns serious and he takes a deep breath.

“I wasn't able to forget you even after trying so much.” Ian utters and his gaze softens for a moment.

“Why'd you try to forget me? I always think about you.” Emma says.

“Y-you used to think about me?” Ian asks, unsure.

“Of course. I still remember everything. I even have the clip you gifted me.” Emma says, smiling but her smile falters when Ian's gaze hardens again. He clenches his jaw.

“Forget it.”

“Huh?”

“Forget everything you remembered. Only remember what happens from now on.” Ian says. Emma frowns because Ian wants her to forget all those things that made her fall in love with him.

Ian stands straight and holds her shoulders.

“Can you do that for me?” Ian asks and Emma nods.

“Words.” He says.

“Yes.”

“I would not like it if you bring up anything from the past.” He says huskily and Emma gulps.

“Okay.” Ian smiles and pulls her in a hug.

“I missed you. I wanted you all these years.” Emma wraps her hands around Ian's neck.

“I missed you too.” Emma says and Ian's hold tightens around her waist.

*****

“Did you date?” Emma chokes on her spit when Ian asks this. They were walking to the garden.

“What?” Emma asks.

“I asked," Did you date all these years?” Ian asks.

“Twice.” Emma says.

“Who is he?” Ian's expression hardens again and Emma gulps for the nth time.

“First one was before I met you. It wasn't serious anyways and the second one was after you left. I was trying to get over you but it didn't help.” Emma says.

Ian hums, Emma walks further to the garden but yelps when Ian grabs her wrist and pins her against the nearest wall.

“Now you are not allowed to look at anyone else, yeah?” Ian asks and Emma nods.
