Brilliant, a real tear jerker
"I love this story, so emotional and so real, you can really see yourself back there, watching this play out inside Graces home. A further reminder that war is just such a huge waste of life and rarely achieves anything but heartbreak. The characters are so good, and I'm sure there were many "Kurts" scattered around the British countryside, being cared for in homes with little food and supplies but enough love and resilience to take another in that needs assistance. I'm glad Carole turned it around and her parents eventually supported her, although sad that she had to go through that in the first place. I'd like to have seen Adam return too, maybe meet Kurt and become friends, find a nice wife of his own. What a lovely story though, I'm not usually keen on war time stories but that was really really good. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"

Beautiful
"I adore war stories. Not the blood or necessarily the battles but because of the love that is strong enough to survive it. The author does a beautiful job telling this story full of heartbreak. As a romance one figures it'll end a certain way but taking place in during a war there's so much uncertainty. Taking this journey with Grace is hard as she deals with so much loss yet she is still so strong with everything that comes her way. War stories have a way of being raw, even for those not in the mist of battlefield. The author does a great job of creating this. Reminding that during wartime, not being on a battlefield didn't mean one was free of battles. Grace definitely had her share. The part which broke me down into the bitterest of tears was when the mother felt compelled to finish knitting her son a scarf and mitts because he would be cold without them when she learn he wasn't coming home. Oh man, I'm still tearing up. What I struggled with was grammer and the layout. When a song is played the lyrics are thrown right in with spoken words. It would have been nice to have separation. I didn't mind the lyrics apearinf between a conversation but not having them in the same paragraph would have made it slightly easier, especially in the beginning when it took me a second to realize it. There were other mistakes but story is definitely enjoyable all the same. The word flow sometimes feels slightly over the top, but it is set in England during WW2 so that fits. But I am also a yank 😉 so maybe it just feels a bit over the top only to me. With that said, I enjoyed this story & am so glad I gave it a chance! Thank you for sharing it."
