Chapter 1

I couldn’t take it anymore. I had to leave once he was asleep, I put a little something in his drink to knock him out. He wasn’t going to use me anymore. Plan to drive as far away as I can. I bought new clothes, and I will change them once I stop, I ran in another direction in my wolf form. It felt so good to run in my wolf. We’ve been running further and further each day, so I knew she was strong. We could get out of his reach; we can do this. I only had a couple hundred bucks so I stopped at a cheap motel so we could rest and shower. I was able to make a special strap for a bag to go around my wolf’s neck and lay on her back. My parents thought I was OK being with him, but he wasn’t my true mate. They made an agreement for me to stay with him. I hated it, but my other choice was to be unclaimed and be a rogue and that wasn’t an option.

I was put in the lineup; I was the thicker girl so he chose me. I rejected him as my mate and that night I left, our bond was severed. I was tired of being used to being his little sex toy and making me clean and cook even though I did get good at cooking. I could whip anything special with just little ingredients. I slept well in the motel bed, relaxed. I went for a walk once I got up, just to stretch my legs. I wanted my wolf to relax in case we had to run again. My parents died a few years ago so they left everything to me. I noticed the bank they used was in this town as well. Good I can get money, a new car and maybe rent a house. I was nervous being in a different territory. Since I was on my own, my senses were heightened, and I was on alert all the time. My parents have left more than I thought so I was able to rent a house for a year in cash and buy a jeep. The owner of the house was Ben. He was human, so I knew we could hang out as much as I wanted but not to make him think we were together. Yes, we would pleasure each other but he never stuck his dick inside me. I just wanted his scent in me to help hide mine.

We went to a local pizza place. And he was one of those that sat on the same side of the booth. He was always touching me so if I wasn’t a wolf and looking for my mate, he would probably be a good match.

Before my parents died. I watched how the bond was. They were so in love; they would dance around the kitchen and talk for hours about anything and everything. Of course, they fought but who didn’t. The couple in the motel were fighting all the time. I only hoped to find that. I wanted my mate. I mean Ben was sweet and all but no sparks, no tingles. He did tell me that in the next county over there would be a carnival type of thing. He asked if I would go with him,

“sure, why not.”

He said, “make sure to wear something warm because it would be chilly that night or I could keep you warm” with a wink. I just laughed it off. …
