Chapter 1: The Moon

~The Moon meets the Sun for the very first time.~

○○○○

A woman screams in the back of a dark alley.

Why she was screaming was obvious:

I was blocking her only escape way, and I was threatening her with my favorite tool.

A blade that fitted perfectly in either of my hands. With its ridgeless edges, it was the perfect knife for stabbing swiftly and directly. It was a magnificent piece I created with my own essences. My mute, unintelligent item that allows me to use it for my pleasures.

Her slow, deliberate steps drew my attention easily. As she backed against the wall, I noticed the trembles vibrating her body. It must have been so cold to her bare shoulders because she was shivering. Maybe it was due to fear — maybe she shivered because she know she's going to die. Whatever the case was, I like to see this expression. Her already large eyes grew twice their sizes. She reminded me of a bird. Small. And at the mercy of my bite.

Did I stop my advances? No. Why would I? She was mine now. Her flesh mine! Her blood mine!

O how I laugh on the inside as I keep advancing, slow yet steady like a snake sneaking up on his prey.

I know this young, brown-haired girl's story. I knew her name. A pretty name, yes, but it didn't matter. She was no one to me. A human I convinced to follow me. This is what she represented in my black heart.

As I reached out to grab her, an unfamiliar heat pierced me from behind.

A light shined. A bright golden light that seem to fill the very darkness that hid me. I hissed at the light and quickly moved to the side of the wall. What was left of the darkness was just a shadow, covering the corner on my right.

Wincing, for the light stung my eyes, I struggled to hold my eyes open. But when I did: I see her!

The woman who pierce my heart with her beautiful face and ethereal glow.

A goddess she was. Or at least, she looked like one to me. As I stared into her moon-touched face, a voice seem to whisper in my ear:

She's the one.

Her hair, curly and free flowing, spilled along the sides of her face as if they were rays of light shining down on the world beneath her feet. Her lips — those lips were a pink, rosey shade. So perfect for my own to press firmly against.

"You shall not do anymore harm!" Her voice, sweet to my numb ears, cut through my daze as if her very voice demanded my attention.

Lowering my arms, which were shielding my dark eyes from her light, I chuckled. The small space filled with my laughter. "You think you could stop me!" The narrowing of her eyes, such beautiful golden eyes, told me she wasn't taking me seriously. My laughter ceased as I extended my shadow out. Instantly, I noticed her holding my shadow back with her light.

What the hell is she anyway?

"I will not allow you to harm that innocent girl, Creature of the Shadow. As the guardian to humans, I, Diana, will stop your reign of terror."

"Will you now?" Reinforcing the darkness behind my eyes, I looked her dead on in the face.

She was some piece of work alright. How I wanted to hear her screams of terror. Smirking, I took a step, a small one, forward. Her light was so strong. My whole body is on fire. I met her intense glaze. My own challenging hers. The shadows around me began to dance as if they had taken on a life of their own. Covering the girl, who been standing frozen against the wall, I gestured for Diana come to me. "If you want this girl. You're going to have to defeat me. Shadow King of the Shadow World, Demo."

The exchanging of names marked the beginning of a long battle together. Diana of the light and Demo of the dark.

The light disappeared as if it hadn't brightened this alleyway moments ago.

She stood before me, plain as a regular human. The golden undertones of her powers are gone. Her perfectly, cleaned face made me want to paint her dark brown skin red. "You won't hurt her." She told me in such a calm tone before she took a step toward me.

The black heart in my chest pounded loudly in my ears. Another step toward me. Was she stupid? Was she not aware of the blade in my hand?

She stopped just short of touching me. I'll be lying if I said the proximity didn't affect me. "Well, what do you plan to do?" My voice was mocking in tone. I hope she saw the carnivorous desire in my eyes.

O how delicious she would taste! Being this close, so many thoughts of what I could do to this goddess flashes across my mind. How I wanted to make the first move, but no- I couldn't! Her gaze held mine like a fly in a trap.

"Nothing." Her one word answered back with no hint of deceit.

Asking again, I could feel that she was up to something. "What are you doing?"

Her right hand snakes around my torso. At the same time, her other hand presses against my chest.

Quickly, I move to attack. At the same instant, her light pierce through the darkness that held my prey captured.

She pushed against me. Pulling the girl free of my clutches. Anger shot through me like fire spreading. With one move, I held Diana in my grip. The blade at her throat.

"Run. Don't look back!" She shouted to the girl. The demand in her voice commanded the order she gave to be carried out.

I mentally curse myself for allowing her this advantage. My wicked thoughts were my own undoing. I seethed into her ear. "She's the first to get away from me. You should be proud of yourself, Diana, Light Goddess."

"You have no idea how." She was smiling. Mocking me!

I moved my blade closer to her throat. Such a smooth neck too. "It doesn't matter. You're my new target now."

"I'm your new target." I heard her say in that all-to-sweet voice of her. Her body rubs against my body – slow and intentional. Momentarily distracted by the feel of her against me, I failed to notice her inching away from my tool.

Like a snake, her hand wrapped around my wrist. The pressure was once that could easily snap a twig in two. "I guess that makes me someone special," she retorted in a tempting tone.

This has never happened before. This woman so eagerly giving herself to me.

"Special, yes." Leaning over, I place my head close to her head, allowing my chin to rest lightly on her shoulder. I felt her push at my wrist, and so I grabbed her free wrist, folding her arm across her chest to still her. "You have no idea what you just got yourself into."

Her next words made my heart stop beating, if only for a few seconds. "I think I do."

I moved the knife closer to her smooth skin. My other hand making small strokes along her wrist. "Good, I don't have much to explain." As the blade dug her skin, a wave of heat washed over my body.

I recognized the same burning flowing through me as I've felt earlier. "Demo, I can destroy you if you get too close." The heat increases. My body felt numb. I saw her push my hand away from her throat. I couldn't believe this. As she gently moved from my embrace, I watched from angry eyes as she turned to face me.

"To keep an eye on you– " She held my wrists firmly in place. The burning feeling left me paralysis to her will.

Why?!

"I will make you focus on me. Focus on me, only, Demo."

"You. What is this?" With a good bit of willpower, I move my wrists, managing to turn my hands. "Hehehe you will-"

My sentence was cut off! She cut me off with her mouth. With her eyes closed, she couldn't see the shock and anger that rose to my face.

Just as I was about to break this little exchange, her tongue slipped past my lips, wrapping around mine. Commanding me to fight back. Before long, she got her wish.

She got her wish!

Dominating this goddess was proving to be a battle of strength. It was like she wasn't giving me a choice. She had me under her control as she held my lips to hers.
