Dimitri was on edge. It had been hours since Rose had left the palace and she still wasn’t back. She had left him a note saying that she was going to go and see a friend, and that she would be back by nightfall.
Dimitri paced back and forth in front of their apartment. He glanced at the sky. The sun was already setting. Where was she?
He grabbed his phone from the coffee table and called her number. It went straight to voicemail. Panic began to set in. He knew that Rose had many enemies. He tried to convince himself that she was fine, but he couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was wrong.
He decided to check her schedule for the day. She had said that she would be out, but maybe she had forgotten to tell him about a commitment.
He grabbed her schedule book from the kitchen table and flipped through the pages. There were no entries for today. She really must have just gone to visit a friend then.
Dimitri sat down on the couch and tried to calm down. He flipped on the TV and channel surfed for a while, but he couldn’t concentrate on the shows. His mind kept wandering back to Rose. He couldn’t understand why she hadn’t come back yet. Maybe he should go and look for her.
As he stood up to grab his keys, there was a knock at the door. His heart leap into his throat. Hopefully this was Rose. He quickly crossed the room and flung open the door.
Instead of seeing Rose, he was greeted by Adrian’s shocked face.
“What’s going on?” Dimitri asked. He could see that Adrian had been crying.
“I can’t find her,” Adrian replied, his voice cracking. “I’ve been looking all over the place and she’s nowhere to be found. She was supposed to meet me this morning.”
“She told me that she was going to see a friend,” Dimitri said. “She said that she would be back by tonight.”
Adrian frowned. “She didn’t mention anything about a friend to me. She was supposed to be with me all day.”
Dimitri’s panic was now at an all time high. Something was really wrong.
“She would never stand you up,” Dimitri said. “You’re her best friend. Something must have happened.”
Dimitri grabbed his keys and coat and rushed out the door with Adrian.
They had been searching for hours and so far had found nothing. They had been all over town, had looked everywhere they could think of, but there was no sign of Rose.
Meanwhile, Rose was having one of the worst days of her life. She had gone to meet Adrian, but had barely made it to the coffee shop before she passed out. The next thing she knew, she was being held captive in a cell somewhere. She had been there ever since.
Rose could hear the sound of footsteps approaching. They were loud and deliberate. She guessed that she was about to get some more visitors.
The door opened and two strigoi walked in. One was holding a large needle, the other was holding a small cup. Rose instinctively tried to move away from them, but she was restrained to the bed.
“Good afternoon,” the strigoi holding the needle said. “We’re just here to collect some blood samples.”
Rose struggled to try and get free, but she was too weak. The strigoi jabbed her with the needle and filled the cup with her blood. She winced at the pain.
“There,” the strigoi said, pulling the needle from Rose’s arm. “That wasn’t so bad, was it?”
Rose didn’t reply. She was in no mood to talk.
“Where am I?” she asked.
“You’re at one of our research facilities,” the strigoi replied. “And you’re here to help us with some tests.”
Rose frowned. What did they want with her blood? And what tests?
“What do you want with my blood?” she asked.
“And what kind of tests?”
The strigoi laughed. “All in good time,” he said. “For now, we’re just collecting blood samples. But soon we will need to use your body for breeding purposes.”
Rose’s eyes widened in shock. Breeding purposes? What did they mean?
“What do you want with me?” she asked again. She was getting more and more desperate.
“Strigoi are sterile,” the strigoi replied. “But we have discovered that Shadow kissed blood can help us to reproduce. We are trying to create a new race of strigoi that can breed and produce children.”
Rose was horrified. “You can’t be serious,” she said.
“We are very serious,” the strigoi replied. “And you are going to help us achieve our goals. We’re going to breed you until you produce a strigoi baby.”
Rose’s stomach turned. The idea was disgusting. How could they do such a thing?
She shook her head. She couldn’t let them do this to her.
“You can’t do this to me,” she said, trying to sound as confident as possible. “I’m shadow kissed. You can’t harm me.”
The strigoi smiled. “You’re right,” he said. “You are shadow kissed. But that doesn’t matter. We have found a way around that. We have developed a serum that we can inject into you. It will counteract the effects of the shadow kiss.”
Rose’s eyes widened in horror. They were going to drug her and breed her like an animal? She couldn’t let this happen. She had to escape. But how?
Dimitri and Adrian had been searching for hours. They had looked everywhere, but so far had found no trace of Rose.
Adrian was devastated. He could hardly see through his tears. Dimitri had to guide him through the streets as they searched.
“Why can’t we find her?” Adrian asked. “Where could she be?”
Dimitri didn’t have any answers. He was just as confused as Adrian was.
“She would never stand us up,” Adrian said. “Something must have happened.”
Dimitri nodded in agreement. “I know,” he said. “Something must be wrong.”
He glanced at Adrian. He could see the despair in his eyes. They had to find Rose. They had to save her.
As he was looking at Adrian, he suddenly had an idea. “How about you Dream walk her?” he asked.
“Maybe you’ll be able to see where she is.”
Adrian’s face lit up with hope. “Yes,” he said. “Let’s do it.”
They walked back to the Belikov’s apartment and sat down on the couch. Adrian closed his eyes and concentrated. He had dream walked Rose before, so he knew that he would be able to do it.
He focused all of his energy on Rose and her spirit. He pictured her face and tried to connect with her.
He knew that he was in her head when he saw her lying on a bed in a cell somewhere.
She was being held down by strigoi guards while another strigoi injected her with something.
Adrian was horrified. This was even worse than he had imagined. They had to save her.
He opened his eyes and looked at Dimitri. “She’s at a strigoi compound,” he said. “She’s being held in a cell somewhere.”
Dimitri’s face lit up with determination. “Then we have to go and rescue her,” he said.
Adrian nodded in agreement. He couldn’t wait to get to Rose and save her. He loved her, and he would do anything for her.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, Rose was lying on a steel table, her hands strapped in steel cuffs. Her legs were spread wide and tied to the table legs with thick chains. A needle was injected into her arm, she tried to move but it was too late. The strigoi, held her down and whispered into her ear.
“This serum will keep you aroused and wet, it’s so much fun watching you squirm.”
Rose felt a rush of heat as she felt a strange feeling spreading through her body. She tried to fight it but it was useless. Her panties were already soaked from the feeling and she could feel her muscles clenching and unclenching on their own.
“Please don’t do this.” She whispered as she looked up at the strigoi.
The strigoi laughed and brought a sharp blade to her neck. “This isn’t going to be painful, Rose. You’re going to enjoy this.”
With that, he started to cut off her clothes. The feeling of the cold metal against her skin made her shiver. She looked down and watched as her top and bottoms were cut away. The strigoi tossed them to the side and looked down at her with hunger in his eyes.
“Mmm, you look delicious.” He said as he brought the blade to her breasts.
Rose felt herself gasp as the blade dragged across her nipples, sending a rush of pleasure through her body. She tried to fight it, but the serum was too strong. She couldn’t help the way her body responded.
The strigoi smiled as he saw her nipples harden. He leaned down and took one into his mouth, sucking on it gently. Rose felt herself moan as the sensation spread through her body. The strigoi’s tongue danced over her nipple, sending wave after wave of pleasure through her.
The strigoi pulled back and smiled. “You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?”
Rose tried to speak but couldn’t. She shook her head and tried again. “No, I’m not.”
The strigoi laughed again. “Liar, I can see it in your eyes. You’re enjoying this.”
With that, he pushed himself between her legs and rubbed himself against her. Rose felt a rush of pleasure as she felt him rub against her clit. She tried to fight it but it was too much. She started to moan as he rubbed himself against her.
The strigoi smiled as he watched her. “Oh yes, you like that, don’t you?”
He reached up and grabbed her face, forcing her to look at him. “Say it, Rose. Say you like it.”
Rose struggled against the straps, but they were too tight. She couldn’t move. The strigoi’s grip on her face tightened and he pulled her face close.
“Say it.” He hissed.
Rose felt herself moan as the strigoi continued to rub himself against her. She knew she couldn’t fight it any longer. With a gasp, she said it. “I like it.”
The strigoi smiled as he pulled away. “Good girl.” He said. “Now, let’s try something else.”
He pulled back and looked down at her. “Are you ready?”
Rose nodded and watched as the strigoi pulled out a small syringe. He leaned down and injected something into her clitoris. Rose felt a rush of heat as the sensation spread through her. She started to moan as she felt herself become more aroused.
The strigoi smiled as he watched her. “Ah, yes. You really like that, don’t you?”
Rose tried to speak but couldn’t. She nodded instead and looked at the strigoi. “Please, just fuck me.”
The strigoi smiled and reached down, undoing his pants. “As you wish, Rose.” He said as he pulled out his cock.
Rose gasped as she saw how big it was. She knew it would be hard to fit inside of her. But she didn’t care. She needed him to fuck her now.
The strigoi leaned down and rubbed himself against her. Rose moaned as she felt him rub against her clit. She started to squirm against the table as the sensation became too much. She needed him inside of her.
The strigoi laughed as he saw her squirm. “Are you sure you want this, Rose?”
Rose nodded and looked up at him. “Yes, please. Just fuck me.”
The strigoi leaned down and kissed her. Rose felt a rush of pleasure as his tongue danced against hers. She moaned as the kiss deepened. The strigoi pulled away and smiled.
“Good.” He said. “Let’s get started.”
With that, he reached down and pulled out another syringe. He injected it into her arm and she felt the serum spreading through her. This one was different. It made her feel lightheaded and dizzy. She tried to fight it but it was no use.
The strigoi smiled as he watched her. “Ah, yes. This serum is designed to make you more fertile. It’ll also make you compatible for breeding with a strigoi.”
Rose looked at him in shock. “You can’t do that.” She said.
The strigoi laughed. “Oh, I can.” He said as he reached down and grabbed her thighs.
With that, he pulled himself back and thrust deep into her. Rose felt herself scream as the sensation spread through her. She couldn’t believe how good it felt. The serum had made her more sensitive and it felt like every inch of her was being stimulated.
The strigoi smiled as he started to thrust into her. He watched as her body started to move on its own, arching up to meet him with each thrust. He leaned down and kissed her as he continued to fuck her. Rose felt herself moan as his tongue danced against hers.
As they kissed, he thrust harder into her. Rose felt herself start to orgasm. She moaned as the sensation spread through her. The strigoi pulled away and looked at her, his eyes filled with lust.
“You’re close, aren’t you?” He asked as he thrust deeper into her.
Rose nodded as she looked at him. “Yes.” She gasped.
The strigoi smiled and continued to thrust into her. Rose felt herself get closer and closer to orgasm. The strigoi leaned down and whispered into her ear. “Cum for me, Rose.” He said. “I want to feel your muscles clenching around my cock.”
With that, Rose felt herself orgasm. Her muscles clenched around the strigoi’s cock as the sensation spread through her. The strigoi smiled as he watched her. He continued to thrust into her as he watched her orgasm.
Finally, Rose collapsed back against the table. The strigoi pulled out of her and looked down at her with lust in his eyes. “That was delicious.” He said. “I hope you enjoyed it.” He continued to smile as he walked away. “I’ll be back soon.” He said. “I’m going to make sure you’re pregnant with my child.” He continued to smile as he left the room.
Rose was left on the table, still moaning from the sensations running through her body. She knew she was in trouble. She knew she couldn’t fight it. The serum had already taken control of her body. She would enjoy it. She had no choice.
She had never felt so dirty in her life. She hated this. She hated being forced to have sex with a strigoi against her will. It was degrading and humiliating. And she knew she would have to do it again tomorrow. She couldn’t escape it. The serum wouldn’t allow it.
Rose felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes. She wanted this to stop. She didn’t want to have sex with the strigoi anymore. But she knew it wouldn’t stop. She couldn’t wait until Dimitri and Adrian saved her.
The strigoi guards then came in and took Rose to her cell.
She collapsed on the bed, exhausted from the ordeal. She just wanted to sleep and forget about what had happened.
But she knew that she wouldn’t be able to forget. This was something that would haunt her for the rest of her life. She was very much disgusted with herself.
Later that day, the strigoi came back to her cell. He smiled as he saw her lying on the bed. “I see you’re still enjoying the after effects of the serum.” He said as he looked at her flushed cheeks.
Rose glared at him. “What do you want?”
The strigoi laughed. “Oh, I just want to check on you. See how you’re doing.” He said as he sat down on the bed next to her.
Rose glared at him. “I’m fine.” She said. “Just leave me alone.”
The strigoi laughed again. “Oh, I’m afraid I can’t do that. You see, I have to make sure that you’re pregnant with my child.” He said as he pulled out a needle.
Rose glared at him. “What’s that?” She asked.
The strigoi smiled. “It’s a special serum. It’ll make sure that you’re pregnant with my child.”
Rose shook her head. “No, I won’t let you do it.”
The strigoi laughed. “You have no choice. You’re my property now. You’re mine to do with as I please.”
He said as he grabbed her arm and injected her with the needle.
Rose felt the serum spreading through her body. She knew that there was nothing she could do to stop it. The strigoi smiled as he looked at her.
“I’ll be back tomorrow.” He said.
They didn’t need to though, Rose could tell she was pregnant. She knew the signs. She felt it in her body and soul. She could feel the strigoi baby inside her. She was disgusted with herself and felt guilty.
The strigoi confirmed it.
She was pregnant with a strigoi baby. She wanted to cry, scream and shout. This was her worst nightmare come true. She was carrying a monster inside her.
Rose was devastated. This couldn’t be happening. She had been forced to have sex with a strigoi against her will. And now she was pregnant with his baby. She was disgusted with herself. She just wanted to die.
Rose felt her stomach turn. This was horrible. She didn’t want to carry a monster inside her. She just wanted to be free. She didn’t know what she was going to do. She felt so helpless and alone.
The strigoi then left the cell, locking the door behind him. Rose lay on the bed and cried. This was the end. She was carrying a strigoi baby. She was disgusted with herself. She wanted to die.
As the days passed, Rose began to feel the baby growing inside of her. She hated every part of it, from the morning sickness to the kicks in her stomach. But as the weeks went by, she started to feel something else too.
Something warm and fuzzy inside of her.
She began to look forward to the kicks, even though they were painful. She would put her hand on her stomach and smile when she felt the baby moving. She knew that she was falling in love with it, despite everything.
One day, the strigoi came to visit her again. He looked at her with a cold, hard stare. “I’m glad to see that you are happy,” he said. “But it won’t last.” He reached out and put his hand on her stomach.
Rose flinched away from him, but he just laughed. “You can’t stop it now,” he said. “I will take you back to my castle and you will give birth to our strigoi baby. You will be a part of my family forever.” He looked at her with a cruel smile. “And you will be happy about it.”
Rose glared at him. “I will never be happy about this,”
The strigoi laughed again. “We will see about that,” he said. He reached out and grabbed her arms, tying them to the bed with chains.
Then he looked at her with a cold, empty gaze. “I will show you what happiness is,” he said.
Rose struggled against the chains, but she couldn’t get free. The strigoi leaned over her, his hands reaching for her breasts. She closed her eyes and tried to ignore him, but it was no use.
He began to touch her all over her body, his cold fingers running up and down her skin. Rose bit back a scream and tried not to move, but she couldn’t help it. She arched her back as he touched her nipples, feeling a rush of pleasure run through her body.
The strigoi laughed again. “You like this,” he said. “Don’t lie to yourself, Rose. You are mine now.”
Rose shook her head and tried to pull away, but the chains held tight. She felt the strigoi’s hands moving lower, his fingers sliding between her legs.
“No,” she said. “Please don’t.”
The strigoi laughed again. “Too late for that,” he said. “I will have you whenever I want.” He leaned over her and began to kiss her neck, his teeth biting into her skin.
Rose moaned as he touched her, her body responding to his touch even though she didn’t want it to.
She felt something hot and wet building up inside of her, threatening to spill over at any moment. She tried to fight it, but she couldn’t help it. The strigoi’s touch was making her feel too good.
“No,” she said again, but it was too late.
The strigoi reached over and grabbed a small needle, injecting her with a serum that made her feel even more aroused. She moaned as he touched her again, her body arching off the bed.
“Oh god,” she said, feeling herself start to come.
The strigoi laughed again as she started to milk, his fingers pumping in and out of her. He leaned over her and began to kiss her mouth, his tongue pushing between her lips.
Rose moaned into his mouth, her body still coming as he touched her. She couldn’t help it, even though she knew that she shouldn’t want this. She was a prisoner, after all. And she hated him.
But even as she came, she felt a tiny part of her start to worry. What if the strigoi had hurt the baby? What if she had done something wrong?
She had always tried to take care of the baby, despite everything. And now she was afraid that she might have put it in danger.
She pushed the strigoi away, rolling over onto her side.
“What if you hurt the baby?” she asked, looking up at him with worried eyes.
The strigoi laughed again. “Don’t worry,” he said. “The baby is fine. It is strong and healthy.” He reached out and stroked her stomach, his hand rubbing over the small bump that had formed there.
Rose felt a surge of love for the baby as his hand touched her. She wanted to protect it, even if she didn’t want to protect herself. She looked up at the strigoi with cold, angry eyes.
“I hate you,” she said. “I will always hate you.”
The strigoi laughed again. “That is fine,” he said. “I don’t care what you feel about me.” He reached out and put his hand on her stomach again, rubbing it in a circle.
Rose felt a wave of nausea wash over her as he touched her. She looked up at him with cold, hard eyes.
“Get away from me,” she said. “I hate you.”
The strigoi laughed again. “we will see to that.” with that he left.
She waited until he left her cell before she started to cry. She curled up into a ball and sobbed for hours, thinking about how she had been forced into this situation. She knew that she would have to escape somehow.
She hated herself for being so weak and stupid.
Rose curled up into a ball, feeling the baby kick inside of her.
“I love you,” she whispered. “I’m sorry I let this happen to us.”
She heard the sound of footsteps outside the door and looked up, hoping that it was the strigoi coming back to set her free. But instead it was a guard, carrying a tray of food.
“Here,” he said, setting the tray down in front of her. “Eat up.” Then he turned and left, locking the door behind him.
Rose glared at the door for a moment, then looked down at the food. She picked up a piece of bread and took a bite, chewing slowly as she thought about her situation.
She had to find a way out of this place. She had to protect the baby.
She looked down at her stomach, putting a hand on the small bump that had formed there. She felt a surge of love for the baby as it kicked inside of her.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered again. “I will take care of you.”
She took another bite of bread, then reached for the glass of water that sat next to it. She took a sip, feeling it wash down her throat.
“I hope you’re not thirsty in there,” she said. “I’m going to drink lots of water so that I can make sure you get enough.”
She took another sip, then looked down at her stomach again.
“Do you feel crowded in there?” she asked. “I feel like you’re pushing against the walls of my uterus all the time.”
She reached down and rubbed her stomach, smiling as she felt the baby kick.
“It’s okay,” she said. “I know you need room to grow.” She thought for a moment. “I wonder if you’re a boy or a girl,” she said. “Maybe you’re a boy and you’re trying to stretch out your legs.”
She laughed a little, smiling at the thought of the baby moving around inside of her.
“I bet you’re going to be big and strong,” she said. “And handsome too.” She thought for a moment. “Maybe you’re a girl,” she said. “Maybe you’re trying to stretch out your arms and show me how pretty they are.”
She laughed again, rubbing her stomach.
“You are such a good baby,” she said. “I love you so much.”
She thought for a moment, trying to come up with a name for the baby. She had never really thought about it before, but now that the baby was almost here, she knew that she needed to decide.
She thought about all of the names that she had ever liked, trying to find the right one for her baby. She thought about names that started with different letters, and names that had different numbers of syllables.
“You need a name that is strong and unique,” she said. “Something that will show everyone how special you are.” She thought for a moment. “How about Avery?” she said. “It starts with an A and it has two syllables.” She thought for a moment. “I like that,” she said. “You will be Avery.”
She smiled as she thought about the name. She knew that it was perfect for her baby.
“Avery,” she said again. “I love that name.”
She thought for a moment, then looked down at the rest of the food on her tray. She picked up another piece of bread and took a bite, chewing slowly as she thought about everything that had happened.
“I wish that I could have met you before this,” she said. “I wish that I could have taken care of you better.”
She thought for a moment, then looked down at her stomach again.
“I hope that Dimitri will accept you,” she said. “I hope that he will love you like I do.” She thought for a moment. “I hope that he will still love me too.” She looked down at her stomach again.
“I hope that we can be together again,” she said. “I hope that we can all be happy.”
She thought for a moment, then looked up at the ceiling. She knew that she had to try and escape, no matter what.
“I will take care of you,” she said again. “I promise.” She rubbed her stomach again, smiling as she felt the baby kick.
“I love you,” she said. “I will always love you.”
Then she took another bite of bread, chewing slowly as she thought about everything that had happened. She knew that she had to try and escape, no matter what.
But for now, she would just rest and eat and take care of the baby. She would be happy with her little Avery and hope that she would soon be able to take care of him outside of the castle walls. And then maybe even get her Dimitri back.
Maybe everything would turn out okay after all. She could only hope. But deep down she knew, no matter how much Dimitri loved her, he wouldn’t accept her, not after she had been with a strigoi and was pregnant with his baby. And she didn’t expect him too either. He had every right to leave her and not accept the baby. She just hoped he would let her be around him still, so she could see him.
She sighed and took another bite of bread, chewing slowly as she thought about everything that had happened.
She had to be strong. She had to stay alive until Dimitri came to rescue her. She just hoped that they came soon.
She kept repeating to herself, they would come and save her, Dimitri and Adrian would come and save her. She knew that she could count on them. Dimitri would save her. She was sure of it. She knew that he would do anything to protect her.
She smiled as she thought of him. She knew that he would save her. She just had to wait. She closed her eyes and waited for him to come. She knew that he would be there soon. She just had to wait.
As the minutes turned into hours, hours turned into days and days turned into months, the strigoi’s continued to force themselves on her. And the baby kept on growing. It was growing at a alarming rate.
And then one day when she was into her 3rd month it happened. She woke up in the middle of the night, feeling a sharp pain in her stomach. She sat up in bed, gasping as the pain hit her again.
“Oh no,” she said. “I’m in labor.”
She looked around the cell frantically, trying to decide what to do. She knew that she had to escape, but she also knew that she had to get help for the baby.
“I need a doctor,” she said. “I need someone to help me.”
She looked around the cell again, trying to come up with a plan.
Dimitri and Adrian had at last been successful in finding the compound where rose was being held. They had gathered as many guardians as they could for this mission. They had been training for months.
Adrian had continued to dream walk Rose to try and keep track of her. They had learned that she was pregnant and that the baby was growing at an alarming rate. Dimitri knew that they had to act fast if they were going to save her. He couldn’t wait any longer.
Dimitri was on edge as they approached the strigoi compound. He had never felt so much anger in his life. He was going to kill anyone who had hurt Rose.
He led the guardians into the compound and they quickly dispatched the strigoi guards. They went from room to room, taking down strigoi’s as they went. Dimitri then ran to find Rose.
“We have to be careful,” Dimitri said. “We don’t know how many strigoi are there.”
“We will be careful,” Adrian said. “We just need to get in and find her.”
“And the strigoi,” Dimitri said. “We can’t leave without taking him down too.” Adrian nodded in agreement.
They began their plan, snaking through the corridors of the castle, avoiding detection wherever possible. It didn’t take long before they found the cell that Rose was being held in.
Dimitri saw the door to her cell, and he ran straight to it. He pulled it open and ran inside, looking for her.
He saw her curled up on the bed, her face pale and sweaty ,her hair was plastered to her head. She was holding her stomach and breathing heavily, gasping for air. Dimitri ran to her side and took her hand.
“Rose,” he said. “We’re here. We’ve come to save you.”
Rose opened her eyes and smiled. She had never been so happy to see Dimitri in her life. “Dimitri,” she said. “I knew you would come.”
Dimitri felt himself clench his fists. He wanted to kill whoever had done this to her. He reached up and took her hand. “It’s okay.” He said. “We’ll find out who did it.”
Rose nodded weakly as she looked at him. “I’m sorry.” She whispered. “I’m so sorry.”
Dimitri shook his head. “Don’t apologize.” He said. “This isn’t your fault. Whoever did this, they’re to blame.”
Rose smiled weakly as she looked at him. “You’re right.” She whispered. “I’m sorry for letting them do this to me.”
Dimitri shook his head again. “Don’t say that.” He said. “You didn’t let them do anything. They did this to you.”
Rose nodded weakly as she looked at him. “Okay.” She whispered.
Dimitri smiled as he looked at her. “I love you.” He said.
Rose smiled weakly again. “I love you too.” She whispered.
With that, Dimitri leaned down and kissed her. Rose felt a rush of pleasure as his lips touched hers. She moaned softly as he deepened the kiss. She felt herself getting lost in the sensation.
Dimitri pulled away and looked at her. “Are you ready?” He asked.
Rose nodded. “Yes.” She whispered.
Dimitri then stood up and addressed the guardians. “Let’s go,” he said. “We have to get her out of here.”
The guardians quickly moved into action. Dimitri carried Rose out of the compound and back to the car.
Then he drove to a safe location, a rustic cabin nestled deep in the woods.
Once they were there, “I will go,” Adrian said. “I will bring someone back here as soon as I can.” He turned and ran out of the house, leaving Dimitri and Rose alone.
Dimitri stayed with Rose while she gave birth to the baby.
Rose, her face flushed with a mixture of pain and determination, leaned against the bedstead, gripping Dimitri’s hand tightly. Outside, the moon cast a gentle glow through the window, illuminating the cozy room where they had chosen to welcome their child into the world.
Dimitri looked down at Rose, watching as she gasped and groaned on the bed. He knew that they had to get a doctor here soon or the baby would be born before they could help.
“Hang in there,” he said. “We’re going to get you help.” He reached out and took her hand, looking down at her with worried eyes.
“I’m scared,” Rose said, looking up at him. “I don’t know if I can do this.”
“You can,” Dimitri said. “Just focus on me.” He squeezed her hand. “Focus on me and you will be okay.” He smiled at her. “You’re going to be okay.”
Rose smiled back at him and squeezed his hand again. Dimitri looked down at her, feeling his heart swell with love for her. He knew that he would do anything to help her.
“We’re going to get through this,” he said. “We’re going to be okay.”
Dimitri knelt beside Rose, his expression a blend of concern and unwavering support. . Now, he wiped her brow with a damp cloth, murmuring words of encouragement in her ear as she breathed through another contraction.
Rose’s breathing was steady, a testament to the years of training that had honed her resilience.
With each wave of pain, she anchored herself in the present moment, drawing strength from Dimitri’s steady presence beside her.
The cabin was filled with a quiet intensity, broken only by the occasional rustling of leaves outside or the crackle of the fire.
As the contractions intensified, Dimitri helped Rose into a more comfortable position on the bed, arranging pillows to support her back.
He spoke softly, guiding her through each stage of labor with a calm reassurance that belied his own inner turmoil.
Dimitri looked down at her stomach, watching as the baby moved underneath her skin.
“It won’t be long now,” he said. “The baby will be here soon.” He looked down at her face. “You’re doing great,” he said. “Just hang in there.” He squeezed her hand again. “We’re almost there.”
Rose squeezed his hand tightly, finding solace in his unwavering support.
Hours passed in a blur of effort and anticipation. Rose moved through different positions, instinctively finding what felt right in the moment.
Dimitri stayed by her side, offering sips of water and gentle words of encouragement. He watched with awe and admiration as Rose tapped into her inner strength, navigating the challenges of childbirth with a grace that spoke of her resilience and determination.
And then, finally, after what seemed like an eternity yet passed in the blink of an eye, Rose felt the urge to push.
Rose groaned and tensed up again, her body pushing the baby out. Dimitri watched as the baby started to crown.
“I need you to push,” he said. “I need you to push the baby out.”
Rose nodded and took a deep breath. Then she pushed, her face contorting with effort.
Dimitri’s grip tightened on her hand, his eyes never leaving hers as he murmured words of love and encouragement.
With a deep breath, Rose bore down, summoning every ounce of strength within her.
Dimitri watched as the baby came out, its tiny head emerging first. He reached down and helped guide it out of Rose’s body.
In the quiet of that rustic cabin, under the watchful gaze of the moon and the flickering firelight, Rose gave birth to their child.
The room filled with the primal sounds of labor and the overwhelming rush of emotions.
And as Dimitri caught their newborn in his trembling hands, tears glistened in his eyes, mirroring the tears that streamed down Rose’s cheeks.
Rose cradled her newborn against her chest, overwhelmed with emotions. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she whispered words of welcome and love.
“Good job,” he said. “You did it.” He looked down at the baby. “It’s a girl,” he said. “You have a daughter.”
Rose smiled weakly and nodded. She looked down at the baby. “She’s beautiful,” she said. “She’s perfect.”
Dimitri smiled and nodded. He reached down and cut the umbilical cord, then wrapped the baby up in a blanket.
“Here,” he said, handing the baby to Rose. “You can hold her now.”
Rose took the baby and cradled it in her arms. She looked down at it and smiled.
“Hello Avery,” she said. “I’m so glad you’re here.” She looked up at Dimitri. “Thank you,” she said. “Thank you for helping me.”
“Anytime,” Dimitri said. He looked down at the baby. “She’s beautiful,” he said again. “She’s perfect.”
“Yes,” Rose said, smiling again. “She is.”
Adrian walked in just then, a doctor in wake.
“Here’s the doctor,” he said. “I’m sorry it took so long.”
“It’s okay,” Dimitri said. “Rose gave birth on her own.” He looked down at the baby. “She’s fine.” He smiled at Adrian. “Thanks for bringing the doctor though.” He looked down at Rose and the baby. “We’re going to be okay.”
Adrian smiled back at him and nodded. Then he turned and left again, leaving Dimitri, Rose, and the baby alone.
Dimitri watched, mesmerized by the tender scene unfolding before his eyes. His heart swelled with pride and gratitude. Rose was a miracle, a pillar of strength amidst the chaos of their world.
He knew in that moment that he would spend the rest of his days protecting her, and the child, from any threat that dared to arise. He vowed to love them with all the passion and ferocity that burned within him.
Dimitri looked down at Rose and the baby, watching as they slept together. He felt his heart swell with love for them both.
“You’re safe now,” he said. “You’re safe.”
Rose smiled in her sleep and nodded. Then she rolled over and fell deeper into sleep, the baby cradled in her arms.
Dimitri watched them for a while longer, then finally went to sleep himself. He knew that they were safe now.
The days passed slowly, each one dragging on forever. Rose spent her time caring for the baby, feeding and changing it. Dimitri and Adrian were always there to help, taking turns caring for the baby when Rose needed a break.
“I love her so much,” Rose said, looking down at the baby. “I just want her to be happy.”
“I know,” Dimitri said. “She’s lucky to have a mother like you.” He smiled at her. “You’re doing a great job.”
“Thank you,” Rose said, smiling back at him. “I just want her to be okay.” She looked down at the baby again. “I hope she will forgive me for everything that happened.”
“She will,” Dimitri said. “She loves you already.” He reached out and took Rose’s hand. “We both love you,” he said.
Rose smiled again and squeezed his hand. “I love you too,” she said.
They sat in silence for a moment, watching the baby sleep. Then Dimitri spoke up again.
“What are we going to do?” he asked. “Are we going to raise her together?” He looked down at the baby. “She deserves two parents.” He looked up at Rose. “She deserves the best.”
“I don’t know,” Rose said, looking down at the baby. “I don’t know if you will still want me after everything that happened.”
“Of course I will,” Dimitri said, looking at her with wide eyes. “I love you,” he said again. “Nothing is going to change that.” He reached out and took her hand again. “We’re going to raise her together,” he said. “We’re going to make this work.” He smiled at her. “We’re going to be a family.”
Rose smiled back at him and nodded. “Okay,” she said. “Let’s try.”
She squeezed his hand. “I want this to work too.”
“It will,” Dimitri said. “We will make it work.” He smiled again. “We’re going to be happy.” He looked down at the baby. “All three of us.”
He leaned in and kissed Rose, holding her close as they both looked down at the baby.
“I love you,” he said again. “I love you both.”
“I love you too,” Rose said, smiling up at him. “I love you both too.”
Dimitri smiled again and kissed her again. They both sat back and watched the baby sleep, smiling at each other. They knew that they had a long road ahead of them, but they were ready to try. They were ready to make this work and be happy again.
“We can do this,” Dimitri said. “We can be a family.”
“Yes,” Rose said, smiling again. “We can.”she reached out and took his hand again, squeezing it as they both looked down at the baby.
“We can do this,” she said again. “We can be happy.” She smiled at him. “I know we can.”
Days passed. Dimitri and Adrian had to leave sometimes to complete some missions, but they were always back. They helped Rose with the baby, feeding, changing, bathing and everything in between. They had gotten a house in a safe area for them all to live in together.
Rose had been feeling better, but every time she was alone with Avery she would start to freak out. She was terrified that the strigoi would come back and take Avery away. She knew it was irrational, but she couldn’t help it. She would hear a sound and jump, she would hear a voice and it would remind her of the strigoi, she would feel a touch on her arm and freak out.
It was starting to take a toll on her, she wasn’t sleeping because she was terrified of nightmares. She was constantly on edge. She never let Avery out of her sight. It was making it difficult for her to be a good mother to Avery. She felt guilty every time she yelled at her for no reason.
Dimitri had noticed what was going on and had sat down with her one night to talk about it.
“You’re not alone in this,” Dimitri said. “You don’t have to deal with this by yourself.” He reached out and took her hand. “I’m here for you,” he said. “We’re in this together now.”
“I know,” Rose said. “I just can’t help it.” She looked down at her hands. “I’m so scared,” she said. “I’m so scared of what happened happening again.” She looked up at him. “I don’t want that to happen to Avery,” she said. “I don’t want her to go through that.” She looked down at her hands again. “I don’t want to go through that again.”
“I know,” Dimitri said. “I understand.” He squeezed her hand. “We’ll do whatever it takes to make sure it doesn’t happen,” he said. “We’re going to make sure you’re safe.” He squeezed her hand again. “You don’t have to deal with this alone,” he said again. “We’re going to make this work.” He smiled at her. “We’re going to be happy.”
“Okay,” Rose said, smiling weakly at him. “I know we can.”
The days went by, and Rose continued to freak out every day. She had gotten worse, she wasn’t sleeping, eating or bathing. She had lost weight, she looked weak and fragile. She wasn’t even leaving the house, she was terrified that the strigoi would be waiting for her if she did.
Dimitri and Adrian were worried sick about her, but she had pushed them away. She wouldn’t let them help her, she didn’t want them to see her like this. She didn’t want to be a burden to them.
“Leave me alone,” she said. “I don’t want your help.”
“Rose,” Dimitri said, looking at her with worried eyes. “Please,” he said. “Let us help you.” He reached out and took her hand. “We love you,” he said. “We want to help.”
“No,” Rose said, pulling away from him. “I don’t want your help.” She looked down at her hands. “I don’t want to be a burden,” she said. “I don’t want you to hate me.”
“We don’t hate you,” Dimitri said. “We love you.” He squeezed her hand. “We love you both.” He looked down at Avery. “We’re going to make this work,” he said. “We’re going to be happy.”
“I don’t know if I can,” Rose said. “I don’t know if I’m strong enough.” She looked up at him. “I don’t want to hurt you or Avery,” she said. “I don’t want to be a bad mother to her.”
“You’re not a bad mother,” Dimitri said. “You’re doing your best.” He squeezed her hand. “We know that,” he said. “We love you for it.”
“I’m sorry,” Rose said, looking down at her hands. “I’m sorry for everything.” She looked up at him. “I’m sorry that I’ve been such a burden,” she said. “I’m sorry that I’ve let you down.”
“You haven’t let us down,” Dimitri said. “We love you,” he said again. “We’re going to make this work,” he said again. “We’re going to be happy.”
“Okay,” Rose said, smiling weakly at him. “I know we can.”
Then one day, Adrian and Dimitri had gone out on a mission together, leaving Rose alone with Avery. Rose was sitting in the living room, staring at Avery’s baby monitor. She had just put Avery down for a nap and was just sitting there, staring blankly at the monitor.
“I’m so sorry,” she said, looking at Avery’s monitor. “I’m so sorry that you have to deal with this,” she said. “I’m so sorry that you have a mother like me.” She looked down at her hands. “I wish I was stronger,” she said. “I wish I wasn’t such a burden.”
She heard a noise of glass breaking behind her and jumped. She heard footsteps coming closer and started to freak out. She stood up and turned around, looking behind her.
“Who’s there?” she said. “Who’s there?”
No one answered. She heard the footsteps again and they were getting closer. She heard breathing behind her and froze.
“Hello?” she said again. “Is anyone there?”
“Yes,” a voice said behind her.
She spun around and looked at the voice. She saw a strigoi standing there, looking at her with evil eyes. She gasped and stumbled back.
“No,” she said. “No you can’t be here.” She looked at the strigoi. “You can’t take Avery,” she said. “She’s mine.” She looked at the strigoi. “You can’t take her away from me.”
“I don’t want the baby,” the strigoi said. “I want you.”
“No,” Rose said again, stumbling back. “No you can’t have me.” She looked at the strigoi. “I won’t let you.” She looked at Avery’s monitor. “I won’t let you
take her,” she said. “I won’t let you hurt her.”
“I don’t want to hurt her,” the strigoi said. “I want to hurt you.” He looked at her with evil eyes. “I want to make you pay,” he said. “I want to make you suffer.” He smiled at her. “I want to make you beg.”
“No,” Rose said again, stumbling back again. “No you can’t.” She looked at the strigoi. “I won’t let you.” She looked at Avery’s monitor. “I won’t let you hurt her,” she said again. “I won’t let you take her.”
“You can’t stop me,” the strigoi said. “I’m too strong.” He smiled at her again. “I’m going to make you pay,” he said. “I’m going to make you suffer.”
“No,” Rose said again, stumbling back again. “No you can’t.”
“Yes,” the strigoi said. “Yes I can.” He smiled at her again. “And I will.”
Then he charged at her, his fangs out. Rose screamed and fell to the floor, trying to protect herself. She heard Avery crying in the monitor and it gave her strength.
“No,” she said again, looking at the strigoi. “No you can’t hurt me.” She looked at Avery’s monitor. “I won’t let you hurt her,” she said again. “I won’t let you take her.”
The strigoi snarled at her and bit her. Rose screamed and tried to fight him off, but she was too weak. She heard Avery crying in the monitor and it made her angry.
“No,” she said again, looking at the strigoi. “No you can’t hurt me.” She looked at Avery’s monitor. “I won’t let you hurt her,” she said again. “I won’t let you take her.”
She reached out and grabbed a vase from the table beside her. She hit the strigoi on the head with it and it shattered. The strigoi screamed and fell to the floor, clutching his head.
Rose stood up and looked down at him.
“You can’t hurt me,” she said. “I won’t let you.” She looked down at him. “I won’t let you hurt Avery,” she said. “I won’t let you take her.” She looked down at him again. “You’re not welcome here,” she said. “You’re not welcome in our home.” She looked down at him again. “I’m going to kill you,” she said. “I’m going to make you pay.”
“No,” the strigoi said, looking up at her. “No you can’t.” He smiled at her again. “I’m too strong,” he said. “I’m going to make you pay.” He looked up at her again. “I’m going to make you suffer.”
“No,” Rose said again, looking down at him. “No you can’t.” She looked down at Avery’s monitor. “I won’t let you hurt her,” she said again. “I won’t let you take her.”
Then she heard footsteps behind her and spun around. She saw Adrian and Dimitri standing there, looking at her with worried eyes.
“What happened?” Adrian asked, looking at her. “What’s going on?”
“The strigoi,” Rose said. “He came back.” She looked down at the strigoi. “He wanted me,” she said.
“He wanted to hurt me.” She looked down at Avery’s monitor. “I won’t let him hurt her,” she said again. “I won’t let him take her.”
“No,” Dimitri said, looking at the strigoi. “No he’s not.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out a stake. He walked over to the strigoi and staked him, watching as he disintegrated.
Then he turned to Rose.
“Are you okay?” he asked. “Did he hurt you?”
“No,” Rose said, looking down at her hands. “No he didn’t.” She looked down at Avery’s monitor. “I won’t let him hurt her,” she said again. “I won’t let him take her.”
“I know,” Dimitri said. “I know you won’t.” He reached out and took her hand. “We love you,” he said. “We love you both.” He squeezed her hand. “We’re going to make this work,” he said. “We’re going to be happy.”
“Okay,” Rose said, smiling weakly at him.
Days went by and Rose finally started to feel better. She was sleeping again, eating again, bathing again. She was taking care of Avery, feeding her, changing her, bathing her. She was starting to be a good mother again.
Adrian and Dimitri were relieved, they were worried sick about her. They were happy to see her getting better.
“How do you feel?” Adrian asked one day, looking at her with worried eyes. “Are you feeling better?”
“Yes,” Rose said, smiling at him. “Yes I am.” She looked down at her hands. “I don’t feel as scared anymore,” she said. “I don’t feel as weak.”
“That’s good,” Adrian said. “That’s really good.” He reached out and took her hand. “I’m glad you’re feeling better,” he said. “I’m glad you’re not as scared.”
“Me too,” Rose said, smiling again at him. “Me too.” She looked down at Avery.
She knew that she would always be okay, no matter what.
She knew that she would always have Adrian and Dimitri by her side. And she knew that they would always be happy, no matter what.
Three months went by since Rose had given birth to Avery. She was healthy and happy, she was finally sleeping through the night, she was finally eating on a schedule.
Dimitri and Adrian were overjoyed, they were so happy for her. They had never seen rose so happy before.
She was finally starting to let go of the past.
“You’re so happy,” Adrian said one day, looking at her with a smile. “I’ve never seen you like this before.” he said. “You look like you’re finally letting go.” he said. “You look like you’re finally happy.”
“Yes,” Rose said, smiling at him. “Yes I am.” she looked down at Avery. “I’m finally starting to let go,” she said. “I’m finally starting to forgive myself.”
“That’s good,” Adrian said. “That’s really good.” he smiled again. “I’m happy for you,” he said. “I’m happy for you both.”
“Me too,” Dimitri said, looking at her. “Me too.” he said. “I’m happy that you’re finally starting to let go.” he said. “I’m happy that you’re finally starting to forgive yourself.”
“Yes,” Rose said again, looking down at Avery. “Yes I am.” she looked up at Adrian and Dimitri. “Thank you,” she said. “Thank you for being here for me.” she said. “I don’t know what i would do without you.” she said. “I love you both.”
“I love you too,” Adrian said, smiling at her. “We love you both.” he said. “We’re happy for you.”
“Yes,” Dimitri said. “Yes we are.” he squeezed her hand. “We’re going to be happy.” he said. “We’re going to make this work.”
“Yes,” Rose said again, smiling at them. “Yes we are.” she looked down at Avery. “We’re going to make this work,” she said. “We’re going to be happy.” And then she closed her eyes and fell asleep, her heart full of love for them both. She knew that they would always be happy, no matter what.
She was finally starting to let go of the past.
She was finally starting to forgive herself.
And she knew that she would always be okay, no matter what.
She knew that she would always have Adrian and Dimitri by her side.
And she knew that they would always be happy, no matter what.
She knew that she would always have Avery in her life.
And she knew that they would always be happy, no matter what.
She knew that they would always love each other.
And she knew that they would always be happy, no matter what.
She knew that she had finally found peace. She finally found happiness. And she was grateful for that. She was grateful for the baby that had been forced on her against her will. She was grateful for Avery. She knew that Avery was a blessing. She knew that she was a gift. And she was grateful for it. She was grateful for the baby that had brought her and Dimitri and Adrian closer together. She was grateful for the baby
She knew that Dimitri and Adrian would always love her no matter what. She knew that they would always be there for her no matter what. She knew that they would always be her family. And she was grateful for that. She was grateful for them. She knew that Dimitri would always be her first love. She knew that he would always be her one true love. And she was grateful for that. She was grateful for him. She knew that Adrian would always be her brother. She knew that he would always be her soul brother. And she was grateful for that. She was grateful for him.
