Carnival Trip!
Fuyuhiko's POV
Me and Peko are on a train, heading to a carnival.
I have no idea how this happened.
All I know was that a few minutes after seeing an advertisement, I had purchased two tickets, and waited for a month, all for today.
Peko is sat beside me on the train, watching out the window vigilantly.
I'm not really doing anything myself, but it's very awkward.
For fucks sake, I have to do something.
"Hey Peko? What are you gonna do at this Carnival shit anyway?"
Godammit that sounded insincere.
For FUCKS SAKE Kuzuryu pull yourself together.
"Oh. I want to try earn at least one stuffed animal. I saw one last year that I liked, I hope it's still there..."
She trailed off, probably thinking about the plushie.
Well. At least I can try show off and earn her something.
"Yeah? You know, we both have money, we can try win one."
She smiled, squeezing my hand.
When did she grab my hand?
"Thanks Youn- Fuyuhiko."
Victory.
Before I knew it, the train slowed to a gradual halt, signalling that we had arrived.
Peko released my hand, standing slowly.
The train lurched, and I jolted forward, but luckily she caught me.
Great. How damn embarrassing.
"Mm. Thanks."
Peko was still gripping my shoulders.
"No problem. Please be careful next time"
Is she laughing?
Another win.
We got off the train, and headed to the town square.
Immediately, the sickly sweet smell of cotton candy greeted us and we were bombarded with colours and noise, swallowed into the excitement of the carnival.
Stands after stands were lined up, in a neat line, all the way to the square's fountain. People hustled and bustled, couples hand in hand, parents rushing to keep up with eager kids.
I saw a stand selling cookies, that looked absolutely divine.
Nirvana.
I pleaded with Peko, who was looking around in awe. She was practically starry eyed.
"P-peko. They have a cookie stand. This wasn't there last time. Can we-"
And I gave a yelp of surprise, as she began sprinting to the stand, hauling me with her, money in hand.
And before I knew it, a few minutes later, I was lugging around a huge bag of sweet sugary heaven.
I took a bite. Pure bliss.
I muttered my thanks, my mouth full of cookie.
(Authors note: Fuyuhiko has never heard of not eating with your mouth open)
"Mmm, thank youhh"
She turned immediately, looking pleased, even though her purse was probably at least five times emptier.
"It was my pleasure. If it's ok, may we go check the arcade? Those claw machines are always full of those cat plushies I like.'
I checked my wallet. A wad of cash was stuffed carelessly into the bottom.
I handed her the wallet, grinning like a fool.
Yes. My chance.
Now I was the one dragging her to our next stop.
Greeted by the employees cleaning the floor, I led her to the claw machines.
She looked blissful. Poking the glass excitedly, which was very out of character for her usual calm demeanour, she looked softly at a plush bunny.
"Ohh. Fuyu, I would like to try win that one. Do you have any spare money? It's 186¥ a go, and I don't have-."
(186¥= £1.00)
I handed her the wallet.
She looked dumbfounded.
"The cash machine is over there if you need to convert it to change or anything."
"Are you-"
I nodded.
She will win this plushie.
"Oh. Okay, thank you."
And she went off, money in hand.
Minutes later she returned, and handed me 30. I put it away.
I stood beside her, as she gripped the handle, inserting a coin.
This can't be that hard, can it?
An hour later.
It wasn't hard. At all.
She won 15 prizes, and the bunny.
How is she that good?
Shivering at the thought, I helped her load the plushies into a bag.
Jesus.
Slinging the bag over my shoulder, I watched her squish the small rabbit teddy, beaming to herself.
"Peko, want me to put it in the bag?"
It took her a minute to register my question, squeezing the plush tightly.
After a second, she perked up, and turned to me.
"Hm? Oh, of course."
I checked my watch, in a daze, but what I saw made my blood run cold for a second.
We were late.
"FUCK."
Peko looked alarmed, and turned to me, confused.
"What is it?"
"We're late for the train."
We ended up sprinting back to the station, and to our luck, we barely made it, practically dragging ourselves onto the train, hauling the bags of cookies and the bags of plushies with us.
Sinking into the comfy plush seat, I checked Peko, who was sat, slouched beside me.
As if sensing me watching, she nestled closer, until her head was resting on my shoulder.
This trip was definitely worth it.
