"Mando Moran" (chapter 1)

Hello, I am Mando. When you think you are a failure, don’t worry because you are less of a failure than me. I am 17 years old, have never had friends, and the highest grade I ever got was only 80%. I’ve read many manga and anime stories, and my biggest dream is to live in a world like anime, to be strong, have a beautiful wife like anime characters, two kids, and a simple home. Well, I’m too young for that, but it’s my dream for the future. I guess you will leave now because of my weird talk. Are you still reading? Well, it seems you’re interested in what I’m saying.

Mando’s Mom: Are you crazy?! Are you talking to yourself in front of the mirror again?!

Mando’s body trembles upon hearing his mother’s voice, and he’s so shocked that he trips and falls. Looking at his mom, he says while sitting on the floor: “Mom, you scared me! Don’t do that again. This is my room; you can’t just barge in like this, you old lady!”

Mando’s mom takes off her sandal and throws it hard at Mando’s face, yelling angrily: “Show some respect when you talk to me! Looks like anime has ruined you!”

The sandal hits Mando’s face, tears well up in his eyes, and he puffs his cheek like a child, saying while still on the floor: “Sorry, you might be right. I need to take a break from anime.”

Mando smiles, stands up, and says: “I’ll make it up to you by washing the dishes. Your happiness is the most important thing to me, Mom.”

Mando’s little sister, who is seven years old, walks in and says: “Oh, how sweet of you!”

(Side note: I know her personality might seem cringy, but the AI made her look like this, and I’m too lazy to fix it.)

She says this while tilting her head to the side and placing her hands on her cheeks.

Mando looks at her and smiles shyly, rubbing the back of his head: “Haha, thank you, thank you.”

Then he opens his eyes and says to his mom and sister: “Wait, I have a surprise for both of you!”

Mando’s sister opens her mouth and leans forward on her toes in shock: “A gift for me?!”

Mando’s Mom: “Haha, you’re so sweet, Mando, giving gifts to your mom and sister.”

Mando: “Tada! I bought Night Monster manga, volume five, haha.”

Mando’s mom gets mad, walks over to him, and smacks him on the head, yelling: “Idiot! Don’t call something a surprise when it’s for you!”

Mando, looking at his mom while in pain: “I didn’t say that was the gift.”

Mando goes to the drawer, takes out a modern smartphone and a large, advanced tablet.

Mando: “The tablet is for Amy (his little sister), and the phone is for Mom, Maria (his mom... I know it’s silly to clarify she’s his mom because it’s already obvious).”

Mando’s mom and sister get excited, and his mom says: “Mando, don’t call yourself a failure; you’re truly amazing.”

Mando: “Well, this…” (Mando looks down at the ground with sad eyes and clenched fists) “…I don’t want to talk about it. Night has fallen, and sleep is calling me.”

Maria: “Alright, if that’s what you want. Go rest.”

Amy puffs her cheeks, crosses her arms, and looks at Mando: “Stop being so dramatic; you’re not in an anime story.”

Mando: “Go to your room and watch cartoons, you little brat.”

(He says this with his head held high, looking down at her with a calm but intimidating voice.)

Amy gets scared, runs to her mom, and hugs her, looking at Mando with fear:

Amy: “This isn’t for kids.”

She says this with a trembling voice.
