Chapter 1

The soft hum of ocean waves drifted through the open window, mingling with the early morning breeze scented with salt and flowers. Larissa’s eyes fluttered open, momentarily disoriented by the pale, sheer canopy above her. Then it hit her, her wedding day.

She sat up abruptly, her heart racing. Today she would marry Jasper, the man she once thought would be just a memory from a one-night stand, now her forever.

Before she could spiral into pre-wedding jitters, her phone buzzed on the nightstand. A message from Sydney:

“Rise and shine, bride-to-be! I’m coming over with coffee and no-nonsense pep talks.”

Larissa smiled. Trust Sydney to know exactly what she needed. She stretched, breathing deeply, allowing the sound of the ocean to soothe her nerves. Today is going to be perfect.

Sydney burst through the door an hour later, holding two iced lattes and a bag of pastries. “I come bearing gifts and sanity.”

Larissa laughed, already feeling lighter. “I hope you brought extra sanity.”

As Sydney set up their impromptu breakfast, Jasmine arrived, her usual calm energy grounding the room. “You’re glowing already,” she said warmly.

The bridesmaids helped Larissa into her wedding robe, a soft silk wrap with “Bride” embroidered on the back. Her makeup artist and hairstylist worked their magic while Sydney kept the mood light with funny stories from their college days.

As the final touches were done, Larissa finally stepped into her wedding dress, a delicate, off-shoulder lace gown with a flowing chiffon train, perfect for a beach wedding. Her hair was swept into a loose updo with soft curls framing her face, accented with tiny pearl pins.

When she turned to face the mirror, her breath caught. She barely recognized herself, not because of the dress or makeup, but because of the pure happiness radiating from within.

Sydney sniffled. “Stop looking so beautiful! You’ll ruin my makeup.”

Jasmine smiled softly. “He’s going to lose it when he sees you.”

As the ceremony drew closer, Larissa’s stomach twisted with nerves. “What if something goes wrong? What if I trip down the aisle? What if-”

Sydney grabbed her shoulders gently. “Larissa. Breathe. You’re marrying the man who loves you more than anything. Nothing else matters.”

Larissa nodded, taking shaky breaths. “You’re right. Thank you.”

Just then, her father knocked softly and entered. His eyes misted as he took her in. “You look… stunning, sweetheart.”

“Dad…” Her voice wavered, tears threatening.

He stepped closer, cupping her face. “I’ve watched you grow into this incredible woman. Jasper is the luckiest man alive.”

Larissa hugged him tightly, drawing strength from his steady presence. “I love you, Dad.”

The beach was transformed into a dreamy oasis, with white wooden chairs arranged in a semicircle facing the ocean. Seashells and driftwood adorned the aisle, while soft blue and ivory flowers framed the altar.

Jasper stood at the altar, his hands clasped tightly in front of him. He wore a light linen suit that complemented the coastal theme, but all he cared about was seeing Larissa.

When the music began, his heart pounded like the waves behind him.

First, Sydney and Jasmine walked down the aisle, radiant and graceful. Then, the music swelled into a soft, ethereal melody.

Larissa appeared at the end of the aisle, her arm linked with her father’s. Time seemed to stop.

Jasper’s breath hitched. She was stunning, more beautiful than he could have ever imagined. His eyes burned, and he couldn’t fight the tears. This was the woman who’d turned his life upside down in the best way.

Larissa’s eyes locked with his, her earlier nerves dissolving in an instant. All she saw was love, raw, unwavering, and infinite.

Her father squeezed her hand before gently placing it in Jasper’s. “Take care of my little girl.”

“I will,” Jasper promised, his voice thick with emotion.

The beach fell silent except for the gentle sound of waves crashing against the shore as the minister invited Jasper and Larissa to share their vows.

Jasper cleared his throat, his hands trembling slightly as he reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a folded piece of paper. His eyes softened as they met Larissa’s, and he smiled through the flood of emotions threatening to overwhelm him.

Jasper’s Vows

“Larissa… from the moment we met, you turned my world upside down, in the best possible way. I wasn’t looking for forever when I walked into that bar that night… but somehow, I found it.”

The crowd chuckled softly, knowing the unique start of their relationship.

“I’ve watched you face life with strength, kindness, and grace. You’ve challenged me, supported me, and taught me how to love without fear. You’re the calm in my chaos, the steady hand when I feel unmoored, and the best person I’ve ever known.”

His voice wavered, and he blinked quickly, fighting back tears.

“I promise to stand by you when life feels uncertain, to laugh with you even when the dishwasher still confuses me-,”

Larissa smiled, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.

“-and to never let a single day pass without reminding you how much you mean to me. You are my best friend, my greatest adventure, and the love of my life. And I choose you today, tomorrow, and for every day after.”

A tear rolled down Larissa’s cheek as she reached out to squeeze his hand, grounding both of them in the moment.

The minister nodded gently toward Larissa. She took a shaky breath, her fingers curling around the handwritten vows she’d clutched tightly all morning. Her eyes never left Jasper’s as she began.

Larissa’s Vows

“Jasper… you were never supposed to be more than a passing moment. You were the guy I wasn’t supposed to fall for… but somehow, you became my everything.”

Her voice cracked, and Jasper’s thumb brushed her hand in silent reassurance.

“You’ve seen me at my best and held me through my worst. You’ve supported my dreams, even when I doubted myself. You’ve taught me that love doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to be real.”

She paused, smiling through her tears.

“I promise to love you with every part of me, even when life gets messy and the unexpected happens. I promise to support you, challenge you, and stand by you, especially when we’re making major life decisions… like what movie to watch on a Friday night.”

Laughter rippled through the guests, easing some of the emotional tension.

“I promise to be patient when you’re stubborn, to listen when you need to be heard, and to never take for granted the quiet, everyday moments that make our love so special. You are my home, my safe place, and my greatest adventure.”

Her voice trembled, but she pressed on, her gaze locked with his.

“Today, I choose you. Tomorrow, I’ll choose you again. And for the rest of my life, I will keep choosing you through every joy, every challenge, and every moment in between.”

The wind swept gently through Larissa’s veil as they stood facing each other, hearts bare, their love laid open for all to see.

Even the ocean seemed to pause, holding its breath as the minister spoke the words that would bind them forever:

“With the promises you have made and the love you have shared, I now pronounce you husband and wife.”

Without waiting another second, Jasper closed the distance between them, cupping Larissa’s face and kissing her with everything he felt relief, joy, and an overwhelming love that would carry them through whatever life brought next.

The crowd erupted in applause, the waves crashing behind them as if nature itself was celebrating their union.

Amid the joy and celebration, Larissa caught Sydney’s eye. Her best friend was beaming with pride. Jasmine gave her a knowing wink, silently welcoming her into the family.

As the ocean waves crashed behind them, Larissa realized that everything she’d ever feared about their relationship felt so distant now. They’d built something real, something lasting.

And today, on this sun-kissed beach, their forever had just begun.
