Chapter 1

I woke up to the blaring noise of my alarm on my phone. “Ugh” I grunt as I reach over to turn off my alarm. With one eye open I see that I have slept past the two alarms before and now I barely have time to get out for work, “Oh Shit!” I roll out of bed quickly and run through the room looking for my pile of clean clothes. I toss on my high rise mom jeans, boxy white tee and leather jacket as I run out of my apartment.

I head into my office with my blaring hangover from the night before. “Hey girl Heey,” said my coworker Charlotte. “Oh my god Char, how are you alive right now? You drank way more than me and I am seriously out of it.”

“I don’t know girl, guess I can just take more alcohol. Here, I had a feeling you were too shit faced last night so I got you a bagel and some coffee from your spot.”

The alluring smell of sustenance, “thank you I seriously need this.”

“So did you get that guy’s number?”

“No. I told you I really wasn’t interested.”

“Yeah, so you say yet he walked you home and made sure you made it there in one piece and you could tell he was very interested. He basically watched you the whole night.”

I thought about it. This guy was handsome. I tried to remember his name.

Radu. He said his name is Radu. Wait.. Didn’t he give me his number?

I pull out my phone to go through my contacts and find that there is in fact a new contact added, Radu.

I tried to remember last night but it really was a big blur. I recalled dancing with Charlotte, her long blonde hair falling against her cute little black dress and silver heels.

I was wearing my little red dress with black strappy heels and hair up in a messy bun. We had a crazy work day and needed to burn off some steam. Our song started playing so we hit the dance floor dancing and having fun when a gentleman came from behind me and grabbed my waist pushing his hips against my behind and rubbing. I stopped dancing to push him off as he said, “come on baby girl. Dance with me.” Ew, did you just call me baby girl?!” I pushed him away and said, “please find another girl to dance with. I am not interested.” I attempted to walk away when he grabbed my wrist and said, “Why are you being such a tease? In that dress and that hair, dancing like that. Let me take you home. I can show you a good time.” “No, I am not interested and this is the last time I say that. Now let go.” He still did not let go of my wrist. As I reached my boiling point a olive toned man with shoulder length black hair slicked back in a suit that screamed “I’m rich,” grabbed him by the shoulder and said, “I believe the lady said no. Now leave her alone before I instill you with the mannerism of a man that your father clearly missed showing you.” The guy let go of my wrist.

I do not recall the rest of that night besides the fact that I was no longer in the mood to dance. My buzz dissipated and I wanted to go home. I was clearly drunk and not walking straight. I went over to the VIP booth we had put aside to grab my things. I caught Charlotte and told her I wasn’t feeling up to it any longer and wanted to go home. She gave me a hug and we parted ways. As I exited I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turn to see the well dressed gentleman. “Hi!” I said. “Hello, it’s a beautiful night and I see that you are leaving. In the state you are in, I would feel comfortable if you allow me to walk you home.” I thought about this. I was only 4 blocks away about a 15 minute walk. Do I really want to let some random guy walk me home. He could see the fight in my eyes of “stranger danger” to “he’s my knight in shining armor, let him walk me.” “I will only walk you. I am not looking for anything more. I just want to ensure your safety.” I took a deep breath, exhaling and saying, “Fiine. You can walk me home. But if you try anything and I mean anything weird I will fight you.” He smiled a smile that made me feel giddy on the inside. I felt butterflies and said, “You’re really handsome.” It was like word vomit. I blamed all the liquid courage I drank. I felt my cheeks flush as he looked me over and said. “And your beautiful just as I remember.” “What??” “Excuse me, I meant to say you’re just as beautiful as the way I remember when I first saw you at the club.” “oh. Okay” I found myself falling into a silence and looking for the name of each street I turned into to make sure I was turning into the correct one.

The faster I get home the faster I can get out of this situation. I don’t like being drunk and not being able to control everything around me and I worried that this situation, while seeming to be innocent and kind, could turn into something bad. Damn it Cel! You put yourself in this situation! Stop thinking every guy you meet is going to turn you into an episode of true crime tv!

So.. Are you from around here? I hear an accent.” “I am from Romania. I am traveling for business.” “Well thank you for saving me there. What do I call my knight?” He smiled, “My name is Radu. What shall I call my fair lady?” A smile formed on my lips, “Hmmm. I don’t know if I should tell you or if I should stay as your mysterious fair lady.” He smiled at me. I came to a stop as we had arrived outside the door to my apartment building. “This is me. Thank you for the walk back home.” “Well my lady, before I bid you away. Let me atleast give you my number. I would love to meet up for coffee.” I handed him my phone so he could place his number into it. As I reached to grab it back, Radu grabbed my hand and placed his lips to it, bowing and saying, “Good night my fair lady.”

I couldn’t help but giggle as I turned away saying, “Adieu my knight! Or should I say Radu.” With a cheeky smile on my lips and a glint in my eye I walked inside my building with the door shutting behind me. Not looking back, I walked to my apartment.

That night I went to bed dreaming about brown eyes. Deep brown eyes watching me. Warm and inviting.

“So what are you going to do with Raduuuu your knight!” “Ahem, well… I am going to shoot him a text so he has my number and set up a coffee meet up.” “Girl! You mean date! Who you trying to fool.” I couldn’t stop the flush that came up into my cheeks, “Ah! Your blushing! OMG you totally want to ride that pony don’t you!?” My eyes bulged out, “CHAR! You can’t just say that. I do not! I want to see him for coffee, that’s all.” “Mmmmmhhmmm! When was the last time you got laid? Do you have cobwebs? Let someone treat that yoni!”I dropped my head back running my hands over my face laughing, “Geez Char! You’re worse than a mom who nags her daughter to get married.” “Girl, sex is necessary. You need that release. Just go to pound town get that tension out!” I started laughing, “I need the romance. You know this about me.” “Yeah yeah. I want to hear all the details when you get home from this date of just coffee.” I smirked, “Of course you will! Let me just set this up I guess.” Charlotte was my sex healthy bestie who from a young age always was aware of her sexuality. I on the other hand was your very shy person when it came to sex. Being 22 and a virgin isn’t something I planned on but could never tell anyone out of embarrassment. It wasn’t that I didn’t want it. I did but every person I dated was always in such a rush to get to that point, I couldn’t get into it. And when I would ask to take it slow the guys would just get impatient and say they can’t do this. My last boyfriend, Tom, he did take it slow with me. We would do other things and when I finally thought I would have sex with him, he left his phone out on the table. I never checked a guy’s phone before but the buzzing wouldn’t stop. I thought maybe it was something urgent and when I picked it up I saw texts from someone named Becky talking about how good the night before was. I told him to go to Becky and kicked him out of my life.

My history was doing everything but the deed. While I was a virgin I still liked to do everything else. And oh boy, did I really enjoy it.

I pulled my phone out thinking how to message this guy. I have never before hesitated so much. I always had confidence but, there was something about this guy that just made me feel so hot and bothered on our first encounter. When I was walking into my apartment building I wanted to grab him and take him up to my room and do the deed all night long. Who am I kidding though. All night long? Like really. I’m a virgin for fucks sake theres no way I could. Or could I? Ugh… I don’t know. Okay stop. Let’s just send this text.

Hi, Radu. It’s your fair lady taking you up on your offer for coffee.

Well hello my fair lady! Let’s meet at Legendary Bean at noon?

Perfect! I need that afternoon pick me up 🙂
