Chapter 1:The Escape
Aria's feet pounded the dusty earth as she sprinted through the forest,her breath coming in ragged gasps. She'd been running for what felt like hours,but she knew she couldn't stop now.Not when she was so close to freedom.
As she ran, one of her pursuers reached out to grab her, his hands closing around her arms like vice grips.
"Wait!"they shouted."stop!" But Aria shook them off,her heart racing with fear.
She dodged and weaved through the crowd,her eyes fixed on the alleyway up ahead.If she could just make it there she would be able to escape her pursuers.
But as she turned to the corner, Aria collided with a solid wall of muscle.she stumbled backwards,her palms stinging from the impact.
"Oh, I'm so sorry"a deep voice rumbled,as a pair of strong hands grapsed her shoulders to steady her. Aria's eyes flew up to meet the gaze of the stranger she had collided with.He was tall ,with piercing blue eyes and jet black hair that fell across his forehead in a messy way.
For a moment,they just stared at each other, Aria's heart still racing from her exertions.Then his eyes narrowed,his gaze flicking over her shoulder to the number of pursuers closing in.
"Looks like you're in a bit of trouble ", he observed his voice low and even.
Aria nodded,her eyes darting back to the strangers face."I need to get out of here ",she said,her voice barely above a whisper.
His eyes locked onto hers,a glint of amusement in their depths. "well,in that case ",he said with a slow smile "I think I can help you out".
