Meet Akane

One day, 4 years ago. Akane and her little brother, Asahi, got kicked out because Akane couldn't live up to her parents expectations and Asahi wouldn't stop crying. Akane was 12 and Asahi was 4.

“GET OUT, AND TAKE ASAHI WITH YOU!”

Mother yells at me

“BUT WE’RE TOO YOUNG TO BE BY OURSELVES! I PROMISE ILL LIVE UP TO YOUR EXPECTATIONS”

I begged her while holding Asahi in my arms

“NO YOU ALREADY DISGRACED THE FAMILY NAME!! GET OUT NOW!!!”

My mother grabs my hair and throws me out. She slams the door behind her and she throws my stuff out and tells me to leave before she calls the cops. Before I leave, I grab a blanket and a few sweaters and I run. 20 minutes later, I find an alleyway by the school I go to. I sit and cover Asahi with a blanket. As he cries, I try to calm him down. It’s not a safe alleyway where we are.

“shhhh shhhh it’s ok Asahi,”

as he slowly falls asleep, I calm down and fall asleep with him. How can my parents do that to us? I'm only 12 and he's only 4, as I think to myself I just continue crying quietly while holding Asahi.

"i've got you, I won't ever leave you. I'll make sure your safe no matter what"

I looked up with a death stare in my face and from that moment everything changed, I was no longer the happy, sweet, innocent, weak little girl anymore. I was now a protective, strong, sneaky girl, I grew up right then and there. I was no longer going to be pushed around or told what to do, I will do anything to keep Asahi safe no matter what the cost is. As Asahi falls asleep, I slowly fall asleep with him. 4 years later, I'm now 16 and Asahi is 8, I'm now in my sophomore year but I couldn't get Asahi into any elementary schools, but my principal made an exception for me. I'm your usual Emo, quiet girl in the back of the classroom, during lunch I always put my food into my backpack and save it for Asahi. After school I always run as fast as I can back to Asahi and give him my food and make sure he's full and safe and healthy. None of our family members have tried helping us so I never see them or care, Asahi thinks I'm his mother because ever since he turned 5 I told him I'm his mom, I didn't want him knowing about what our true mother did. I never trust anyone at school cause no one is trustworthy, I've never had friends since I was 12, after I got kicked out I dropped all my friends cause I saw the real them. Ever since I've never made another friend, I always put Asahi before me no matter what.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
