A/N- Hey everyone! Here’s the newest book. It’s a sequel to Twisted Justice. I don’t own any teams or real people mentioned in this book. I hope y’all enjoy. Also, you don't need to read down below, it's just some info so you don't get confused about the rules of football. Below that is the characters, and I definitely recommend to check that out.

Offense

Quarterbacks- The quarterback is the “leader” of the team. He can run the ball, throw it to a receiver, or hand it to a running back. There is only one quarterback on the field at a time. Think Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady.

Running Backs- These guys are the one who gets the handoff from the quarterback and tries to run it to the team’s endzone. There can be one or two on the field, depending on the offensive formation. Think Christian McCaffery.

Tight Ends- These guys work as a wide receiver and a blocker, meaning they can either catch the ball or block for the quarterback. There can be between one and four on the field, depending on the offensive formation. Think Travis Kelce.

Wide Receivers- He runs towards the team’s endzone and tries to catch the ball when the quarterback throws it. There are usually two wide receivers on the field. Think Ja’Marr Chase and Tyreek Hill.

Offensive Linemen- These five guys are in charge of protecting their quarterback and everyone else on offense from getting tackled. Think Trent Williams.

Kicker- This guy’s job is in the name. He kicks the ball at the beginning of the game and also kicks field goals for the team for extra points. There is only one kicker on the field at a time. Think Evan McPhersonPunter- This guy is similar to the kicker except he is in charge of kicking the ball high and long so the rest of the team has time to get down the field. Think Tress Way.

Defense

Linebackers- These guys stay behind the defensive line and make sure the offense doesn’t get the ball. These guys are usually the best tacklers on the team. There are usually 3 to 4 linebackers on the field at a time. Think Fred Warner.

Safety- He stays back and makes sure that if the offense manages to get past the linebackers, then he will be in charge of tackling him. There are two kinds of safeties: a strong safety and a free safety. The strong safety plays closer to the line of scrimmage, and the free safety plays farther back. Think Kyle Hamilton.

Cornerbacks- These are the guys who are on the edges of the field. They are in charge of covering the wide receivers. There are usually two to four on the field at a time. Think Trent McDuffie.

Defensive Line- These guys have two jobs. The first is to stop any running plays that the offense is trying to attempt. The second is to break through the offensive line and tackle the quarterback. There are usually three on the field at a time. Think Derek Brown.

Basic Rules

• Games last for four 15-minute quarters. A 2-minute break between the 1st & 2nd and 3rd & 4th quarters is had, along with a 15-minute rest between the 2nd and 3rd quarters (half time).
• Each team has 4 downs to gain 10 or more yards. They can either throw or run the ball to make the yards. As soon as the team gains the required yards, the downs reset, and the yardage resets. Failure to make the yardage after 4 downs will result in a turnover.
• There are hundreds of different plays that players can run on any down. Plays are made up by the teams and often have players running all over the place (routes) in what is essentially organized chaos. The head coach or quarterback calls the on-field plays for the attacking team, whilst the defensive captain calls the plays for the defensive team.
• At the start of every game is the coin toss to decide which team receives the ball first and which side of the pitch they want to start from.
• The game begins with a kick-off where one team punts the ball downfield for the other team to then run back with the ball as far as possible.
• On fourth down, the offense has the option to either try to make up the yards they are short or to kick the ball. If they decide to kick, they have two options: to punt or to try for a field goal. Depending on their position on the pitch will usually dictate their play. Anything within 40 yards or so of the opposition’s goalposts will result in a field goal attempt. Further back will likely mean they take the punt option.
• When a player scores a touchdown, six points are awarded to their team. A touchdown can be scored by either carrying the ball into the end zone or receiving the ball from a pass while in the end zone. After a touchdown has been scored, the attacking team has the opportunity to kick the ball for an extra point. The ball must pass between the upright posts for a successful kick.
• A field goal can be scored from anywhere on the pitch at any time (usually on the final down), and a successful kick will result in three points. A safety is when the defensive team manages to tackle an attacking opponent in their own end zone; for this, the team will receive 2 points.
