Pan Ever After: Heart of Innocence (a peter pan fanfic)

Summary

Pan Ever After – Heart of innocence In a fractured Neverland formed by the imaginations of five children, Peter Pan steals away a girl with twice the heart and innocence of any child. She is the adopted younger daughter of the Darling-Davies family; tender and quiet, the one child whose soul calls to him. Accompanied by her fierce sister Samantha Darling and two wild twin brothers, she agrees to journey skyward with Peter into a world that reflects their deepest selves. But peace is short-lived. As they explore lands sculpted by thought—jungles ruled by dancing tribes, glittering grottoes where mermaids sing, and mountains that bend time—clashes rise between Peter and his soulmate's whimsy and Samantha’s desire for control. The twins—impulsive and mischievous—forge alliances with the Lost Boys, setting off chaotic adventures and impossible quests. Behind Peter’s laughter hides longing—for his newly found other half, whose gentle gravity begins to change him and Neverland in incredible ways. Samantha, incensed at not being the favorite and loosing power and control, makes a secret pact with Captain Hook: keep them apart, preserve power through separation. Time itself fractures under their meddling, reshaping dreams and twisting destinies. Betrayals simmer as Peter realizes the truth: Petra would’ve stayed... if not for the lie that tore them apart. In the final act, Peter must tears through reality itself to return to the world he left behind—to find her. And hope that when they see each other again, everything that felt lost is still waiting to be found.

Chapter 1

All children are innocent and heartless, except one. She had twice as much heart and, therefore, was naively innocent. To balance this, she had her adoptive sister Samantha Darling-Davies, who possessed nearly no heart and innocence at all.

Peter watched them from the shadows as they prepared to go to sleep. One of the girls, a blonde, had already retired to her room. The remaining children were still up: a girl with thick dark hair in twists and two little brunette boys with bright eyes. Peter thought they might be telling stories—perhaps even one about him. But instead, they were merely chatting on the canopy bed. One of the boys seemed particularly restless, likely afraid. Peter found their fear amusing; nothing frightened him.

The dark-haired girl climbed into the smaller boy’s bed and began to rub their backs soothingly. Peter, bored and ready to leave, hesitated as he heard the boy’s request. It was something—perhaps something the Lost Boys would have wanted. Curiosity piqued, Peter cracked the window a little more, staying low so that only the top of his head and his flashing green eyes showed.

She began to sing. It wasn’t just the power of her voice, though it was sweet and pure. There was something more—something that spoke directly to Peter’s heart. For the first time, he felt a pang of sadness and envy. He had to have her that night. He had plenty of Lost Boys. She needed to be with him, to mind them more than the two boys she cared for so tenderly.
