Chapter 2
The next morning, we woke up early, dressed up and had our breakfast.
I wore a black top on a loose pink trouser, a pair of black heels and a black handbag to go, I styled my hair in a high bun while Jessie wore a pink floral gown and black heels.
"Okay Daisie-pie, I'll see you at the hospital this evening okay ," Jessica said
"Yeah, sure and please do not call me that again," I said.
"Alright flower,"
"Ughhh," I groaned, "you're so annoying ".
I got to the company quite early, I bought coffee on my way to avoid walking around.
I knocked softly on the door to Mr Alexander's office, "come in," he said.
"Good morning Sir," I said as I entered
"I brought you your usual," I said looking up at him.
Holly Molly, he was shirtless, he's got abs!! triceps, biceps!!!!.....all the ceps..... oh my gosh.
I was just lucky the coffee didn't fall from my hand.
"Done staring?" He asked cockily.
"I wasn't Sir," I defended dropping the coffee on his desk.
"Whatever," he smirked.
He threw the coffee into the garbage "get me another one," he ordered.
"But..." I started but the look he gave me made shut my mouth and grudgingly get him another coffee.
Hours into work, I was getting tired but I had work else Mr cocky would be more than happy to fire me.
I felt someone blocking the entrance to my door, I looked up and it was a tall beautiful lady, she could pass for a Victoria Secret model, she was dressed so elegantly, "she must be a model," I thought.
"Excuse me, I came to see my fiancé," She said
"Fiancé?" I asked.
"Yeah"
I was wondering who her fiancé was but thank God she put me out of my misery.
"Alex," She said.
"Ohh, I'll let him know you're here," I said.
"Good".
I knocked softly on Mr Alexander's door, "come in,' he said.
"Sir, someone's here to see you," I said.
"Does the person have an appointment?" He asked, not lifting his eyes from the papers on his desk.
"Uhhh, no Sir, she's your fiance," I said.
"My fiancé?"
"Yes Sir".
"Sarah?" He asked.
"Uhhh....I guess so...".
He drew in a breath and finally looked up "let her in," and inform everyone we'll be having a meeting in the next 45 minutes," he instructed.
"Yes Sir," I said and quietly left.
"You can I go in Ma," I said to the lady whom I assume is Sarah.
"About time," She huffed and went in.
I just looked at her and went back into my office.
"I never knew he had a fiancé," I thought.
It is not my business anyway but I'm his assistant and I know Mr Alex has no time for dating, even me, his assistant has no time for dating.
Anywayy, it's not any of my business, I sent the mail out to everybody and continued my work.
Ethan, my work bestie stepped into my office, "hey Dee, how's it going?" He asked.
He was the first friend I made when I started working here, he works in the software development department.
He's so good at his job, he's the best software engineer we have here.
" Good, you?"
"Stressful," he said.
"Yeah".
"I didn't see you in the cafeteria today," he said.
"Shit, I forgot to eat lunch," I said, mentally facepalming myself.
"Dee, can you hear yourself?" He said laughing.
"Stop laughing, I was busy," I said pouting.
"Yeah," he said laughing even more..
"But you've got to take your health seriously," he said seriously.
"Yea, I know," I said
"So, I hear there's a meeting today," he said
"Yeah "
"What could be the reason?" He asked.
"Don't ask me, I'm not the boss ".
"But you're his assistant".
"I'm still not him," I said.
"Whatever, I'll see you later"
"Okay, bye".
Few minutes later, Ms Fiancé came out from Mr Alexander's office.
"Here's a tip, you've been good," She said arrogantly to me.
"Thank you Ma, but there's no need," I said, I may need money but I still have my pride.
She eyed me "whatever," She said and walked out.
10 minutes to the time for meeting, I decided to give my boss a reminder.
I knocked and came in.
"Sir," I called out.
"What?" He asked angrily.
I was taken back.
"I came to remind you that we have 10 minutes till the meeting," I said trying my best not to stutter and thank God i didn't.
"Okay," He said icily.
"What's his problem," I thought.
"You can get out," he said looking straight at me.
Like I want to stay here, I wonder why he's so rude, if his fiancé made him angry I'm not the cause of his problem.
I angrily left his office and went to make sure everything's in order.
We were all seated waiting for him, although it was still early, every single person was seated cos we know how our Boss is, just two weeks of taking over he had already fired 10 people for lateness.
"Good afternoon everyone," he said with his stoic face.
"Good afternoon Sir," Everyone greeted.
"Firstly, I want to thank you all for being here and on time. Secondly I want to thank everyone for putting in their best, just few weeks of being here I can see you all are trying ".
"On the 17th, the day after tomorrow, we'll be having a takeover celebration, we should have had it a while ago, but a lot has been going on , but all the same it's okay ".
"This is not any ordinary takeover celebration, a lot of our partners and investors will be here so we need to impress them, make sure you all are here early and dress well ".
"Today and tomorrow, we'll be closing as early as 3pm to enable proper preparation".
"Understood?" He asked.
"Yes Sir ".
We closed the meeting and everyone returned to their posts.
It was an hour to closing time, so I decided to quickly finish up my work cos I didn't want to waste an extra time here.
3pm reached and I was done so I decided to let my boss know I was leaving.
I knocked at his door softly and came in.
"Sir, I'll be taking my leave," I said.
"Why? " He asked.
I was getting confused "Because I'm done with my work and it's 3pm," I answered.
He raised his head and looked at me.
"Did I say you should leave by 3?" He asked angrily .
Okay now I was really confused .
"You said in the meeting that we can leave by 3pm," I said.
"I never said you can, you're my assistant" He said coldly.
"But Sir..."
"No buts, sit down," he said and continued working.
"Sir," I started, about to complain.
"Daisy, do not test me, else you won't like what will happen" he said like he was trying to control his temper.
This was the first time he had ever called me by my name.
I decided to sit down, cos I know Mr Alexander he won't bat an eye before he fires me and I really need this job .
