Summary

Moving to the UK on August 2, 2023, I had no idea how profoundly my life would change. In those first few weeks, everything felt like a blur. I was a stranger in a new country, struggling to adapt and make friends. I hadn’t come here for love; relationships were far from my mind. But then, just when I least expected it, love found me. I’d started college, and at first, I knew no one. But one day, I met a girl during an activity who welcomed me into her circle, and through her, I met him. He was one of her classmates, and although we started off as friends, it quickly grew into something more. Little by little, he made me feel seen, accepted, and cared for. Our bond strengthened, and before long, I found myself falling in love. The first time I told him how I felt, I was terrified. I expected rejection, but instead, he admitted he felt the same. From that moment on, we became inseparable. It felt like we had found something truly special, a connection that was genuine, deep, and full of joy.

Falling in love

Our days were filled with laughter and discovery. We shared jokes, dreams, and ambitions, building a life together in those small, everyday moments. He showed me how to enjoy the simple things: bus rides, silly conversations, walks where we’d laugh at anything that caught our eye. The world felt brighter with him in it.

One day, we went out and bought a bowl of hotdog sausages, some bread. It was a silly and spontaneous moment, slightly embarrassing, but it brought us closer. We laughed, teased each other, and just enjoyed the thrill of doing something ridiculous together. It became a cherished memory, one of many. We painted together, went to the cinema, and explored new places on casual dates that never failed to make me smile.

With him, I didn’t feel like a stranger. He welcomed me into his world, sharing stories and encouraging me to pursue my dreams. He was a Jehovah’s Witness, something he shared openly, and although I hadn’t thought much about religious differences, I told him I’d consider becoming one as well. It was a promise I made to keep him close, even if it wasn’t entirely honest with myself.
