Chapter 5 Explaining

I am in the middle of eating lunch when I hear the announcements calling my name to the office. I sigh as I gather my things to leave. When I am about a foot away I can hear voices.

“What else could we do, we have to keep her safe?” says, one voice.

“What about her mom, what will she think if she finds out that she left school early?” says the second voice.

“I don’t know, but that is the least of our worries, she must know what she is up against,” says the first voice. Hearing enough of their conversation I open the door to see Don and James standing on the opposite side of the room.

“Sorry to interrupt, but I was called down to the office for some reason,” I say, wondering what they're doing here.

“Yeah we know we had you called down because we need you to come to the house with us, so we can explain what you're up against,” James says, looking away from Don.

“Okay, so I’m supposed to just leave school?” I ask.

“Yep, this is really important,” James replies.

“Okay, let's go,” I say, already opening the door. I followed them out the door and into the waiting car, which happens to be probably the cheapest thing they own. When we get inside their house they show me to the kitchen. I look around to see that this is probably the biggest kitchen I have ever seen. It has a massive fridge and a huge stove top but my favorite is a window with a gorgeous view of the beach below.

“Okay, the first thing you should know about would be that Andras is trying to get you to become a vampire, and in doing so will make a connection that is almost unbreakable,” James says, jumping right into what I need to know.

“So you're saying that if I become a vampire because of him that I will have some kind of strong connection to him?” I ask, confused.

“Yep, it means that you will most likely fall in love with him, since the bond is a romantic thing. Plus that would make us enemies, and give the bad side and advantage,” James replies.

“What kind of advantage?” I ask.

“Ok, you are not human, you are the first witch to have lived in over a hundred years, which means that if you would become a vampire you would not only be filling the prophecy, but also tipping the balance, meaning that most likely the Andras and his team will win,” James says, sighing.

“So you're saying that I’m a witch and both sides want to make me a vampire so they can win?” I ask, questionaly.

“No, our side just wants to protect you, vampire or not. You are still very powerful, but you haven’t been able to access your powers because you didn’t know about them and didn’t know how to use them,” Don says, finally deciding to talk.

“Ok, so in other words what is the best thing I can do to stay safe?” I ask.

“That would be to become a vampire,” James says before Don has a chance to answer me.

“Okay, and suppose I would want to become a vampire, how would I become a vampire then?” I ask, not sure if I would like the answer.

“One of us would have to bite you?” James says, sadly.

“Wouldn’t that mean I would fall in love with whoever bites me?” I ask.

“Yes and no, It would depend on if the vampire that bites you likes you and if you like that person in any way.

“So who would bite me?” I ask, scared it would be someone I don’t know or don’t care to know.

“That depends on who you want to bite you, and who is willing to bite you,” James says, plainly.

“Would any of you bite me if I asked you to?” I ask, not sure what they're going to say.

“No, sorry, we have a friend that would never forgive us, because he likes you.” Don says.

“Do I know this person?” I say, not believing them.

“No,”  they say together.

We shouldn’t have said that, it's not our place to tell you that,” James says, realizing his mistake.

“Okay, can I go home now?” I ask, suddenly feeling uncomfortable.

“Yes, just stay safe.
