"This story has everything: history, mystery, love pain, healing, etc. It's an engaging read, you feel like you're part of the story itself. It was difficult to put down, you just want to keep turning pages to see what happens next and how the story end. As with any great book, getting to the end is bittersweet. It's an emotional read but well worth it!"

"Awesome book. Great read. Got totally into the history of Louisbourg. My husband Peppy & I have been here 3 times. The 1st time was August 1988. At that time we purchased a detailed walking guide of the entire site. We spent the next 2 days exploring each house & buildings. We returned again in 2013 & 2015 during the Feast of Saint Louis weekend. We continued to learn more & more about this place. This novel brought me back to the streets of Louisbourg. I felt that I was walking with Tomas, while he experienced the life & breath of the ghost living in this vibrant French community. Loved how the author laced the time periods back & forth while giving a detailed history lesson with an intriguing compassionate love story. I started reading & couldn't stop until I was finished. I would highly recommend this novel. "

"This story had me captivated from the first paragraph, and kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. I loved the local references (I live in Cape Breton), the romantic relationships (which were heartwrenchingly beautiful), and the details with which the author described everything, The author picked me up and placed me in Louisbourg for the night :) A FANTASTIC read! I honestly just wished that it was longer! I needed more of it!"
