Beyond the veil
The stormy night was a canvas of darkness, painted with the vibrant hues of lightning. The sound of thunder rumbled like a distant drumbeat, echoing through the deserted streets. Amidst this tempestuous backdrop, a young boy emerged, his fragile frame drenched and shivering. His eyes, like two glittering stars, sparkled with tears as he banged on the door, pleading for it to be opened. “Ana, You have deceived me. You told me you will not let this happen right? Ana, I know you can hear. I have lost everything. I hate you Ana. I hate you a lot. I’ll neither forgive you nor forget .”
But the door remained shut, a silent sentinel guarding the warmth and comfort within. The boy’s cries went unanswered, his small voice drowned out by the cacophony of the storm. Hours ticked by, each one a slow and agonizing torture for the boy. His resentment grew, a burning fire that threatened to consume him.
As he turned to run, his eyes blurred by tears, a girl watched from the window, her heart aching with every step he took. She felt an overwhelming sense of guilt and regret, knowing that she had promised
to be there for him. The boy’s desperate visit had been a cry for answers, and she had failed .
The girl rushed to the door, flinging it open to reveal the muddy footprints that told the story of the boy’s visit. The sight was like a dagger to her heart, and she broke down in tears, overwhelmed by the weight of her emotions.
Her mother wrapped comforting arms around her, trying to soothe her pain. The girl’s thoughts were consumed by the boy, and she couldn’t shake the feeling that she had let him down. As she drifted off to sleep, cradled in her mother’s arms, she whispered a sorrowful apology, “Alex, I’m sorry for breaking my promise. I’m really very sorry. Please forgive me.”
Alex, still reeling from the events of the night, ran until he reached the ocean’s edge. The stormy sea seemed to echo his turbulent emotions as he cried out in anguish, “Why? Why did this have to happen to me?” The weight of his 12-year-old heart was crushing, and he felt the sting of betrayal and loss.
As the rain continued to pour down, Alex’s tears slowly dried, replaced by a burning anger and hatred. He stood at the ocean’s edge, a small figure against the turbulent sea, his heart hardened by the trials of the night. The storm raged on, a fitting backdrop to the turmoil that brewed within him.
Eventually, exhaustion took its toll, and Alex collapsed onto the sand, lost in a sea of sorrow and anger. The storm slowly began to subside, leaving behind a peaceful calm that seemed to mock Alex’s turbulent emotions. As he lay there, he felt the fragments of his shattered heart slowly begin to harden, like the rough, weathered stones that lined the ocean’s edge.
A New beginning
Fifteen years had passed since that dreadful night, leaving behind unhealed scars that still lingered in Alex’s mind. The memories of the voice still echoed in his mind all these years.“Shoot them. Don’t let anyone leave. Search every corner of the house. No one should be alive by morning.”
Alex woke up gasping, his heart racing as the sound of gunfire still resonated in his mind. He was shivering, his thoughts consumed by the memories of that fateful night.
As he sat up, his eyes fell upon an envelope on the desk. A letter that’s going to change the life of Ana forever.
“The time has come to meet you, Ana. I have been waiting for this day for 15 years. Finally, the wait has to end. I’ll make sure you feel the pain I have felt all these years.“Alex’s eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched in determination. The past was coming back to haunt him, and he was ready to face it head-on.
As autumn’s chill began to crisp the air, the city pulsed with renewed energy. Birds chirped, horns blared, and people rushed to and fro, each lost in their own world.
Amidst the chaos, a girl with a messy hair bun sprinted down the sidewalk, her feet pounding the pavement in a frantic rhythm. She clutched a file to her chest, her eyes fixed on some distant point as she devoured the distance. Finally, she skidded to a stop in front of a sleek glass skyscraper, the logo of Smith & Co. emblazoned on the wall in bold letters. Ana doubled over, gasping for breath, a triumphant grin spreading across her face.“You’ve done it, Ana,” she panted, her eyes shining with determination. “You’re right on time. No one can beat you when it comes to running. You’ve got this. This job is yours for the taking.“On her way, in that crowd she sees a couple who are embracing each other lovingly. Ana’s eyes widened in shock as she witnessed the proposal. The words “I love you, Ana, will you marry me?” cut deep, resonating with her own painful past. She felt a stinging sensation in her eyes as memories of Nicholas flooded her mind.
“No, Ana,” she whispered to herself, steeling her resolve. “You can’t be weak. You won’t remember Nicholas on such an important day. You’ve come a long way to reach here. He’s gone for good.”
With a deep breath, Ana wiped away her tears and stood up straight, ready to face the day ahead. She took a moment to collect herself before entering the office building.
As she waited for her turn at the interview, Ana’s eyes scanned the room. That’s when she saw him - a person from her past, someone she thought she’d never see again. Her eyes began to water, and she felt her composure slipping.
But before she could process her emotions, her past resurfaces with echoes of voice: “Ana, I never knew your family was responsible for the massacre that happened 15 years ago. If I had known, I would never have tried to be friends with you. I break this engagement.”
Ana’s world came crashing down around her. The room began to spin, and she felt like she was drowning in a sea of sadness. Nicholas’s gaze pierced through her, his eyes filled with a mixture of anger, hurt, and betrayal. He turned away, ignoring her, and that sharp glare cut deeper than any words could.
The silence was deafening, and Ana’s heart ached with every passing moment. She felt like she was suffocating under the weight of her own secrets, her past constructed by the hand of others, unable to destroy the past. She tries to stay composed as she hears her name being called for an interview.
Let’s meet the new boss - Alex
The first encounter
Ana stepped into the office, the silence enveloping her like a shroud. The only sound was the soft echo of her own breathing. Her eyes met Alex’s, and she felt a shiver run down her spine. Alex’s gaze was unwavering, sharp, and piercing, as if boring into her very soul.
Alex’s strong, muscular posture commanded attention, exuding an aura of confidence and power. Ana felt a flutter in her chest as she extended her hand, her voice steady despite the turmoil within. “Good morning, sir,” she said, her eyes locked on Alex’s. “I’m Ana.”
Alex’s expression remained unreadable, his eyes never leaving Ana’s face. “Ana, I have reviewed the profile submitted by you,” he said, his voice low and even. “You can join us starting from tomorrow. I hope you survive this.”
A sly smirk spread across his face, and with that, he turned and left the office in silence. Ana was left standing alone, her mind reeling in shock.
As she walked out of the office, her eyes involuntarily searched for Nicholas, the memories of their past still fresh in her mind. Her heart ached with a mix of sadness and longing. She let out a deep sigh and began to walk away from the office, her feet heavy with the weight of her emotions.
Just as she stepped out of the office building, a car suddenly swerved towards her, its tires screeching in protest. Ana’s eyes snapped shut, her heart racing with fear. But before the car could hit her, a strong hand grasped her wrist, pulling her out of harm’s way.As Ana’s eyes fluttered open, she found herself in the arms of her boss, Alex. His chest was inches from her face, his eyes burning with an intensity that made her heart skip a beat. Ana’s pulse quickened, her heart thumping loudly in her chest. She felt a rush of adrenaline, her senses heightened as she gazed up at Alex’s chiseled features.
For a moment, time stood still, the world around them melting away. Ana was trapped in Alex’s piercing gaze, her body frozen in his arms. The air was thick with tension, the silence between them palpable. Alex’s voice cut through the silence, his tone firm but controlled. “Ana, let go of my hand.“Ana’s eyes snapped back into focus, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. She quickly released her grip on Alex’s hand, taking a step back to create some distance between them.
“Sorry, sir,” she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. “I mean, thank you for helping.”
But Alex didn’t respond. He simply turned and walked away, leaving Ana feeling bewildered and more than a little shaken. The silence was deafening, and Ana was left standing alone, wondering what she had done wrong.
As Alex drove away, he caught a glimpse of Ana’s confused expression in his rearview mirror. A cold, calculating smile spread across his face.“Finally, the day has come for you to pay back for the tears I shed,” he whispered to himself, his eyes glinting with malice. “I’ll make sure you beg for death each moment you live. I’ll make your life a living hell. You won’t be able to escape from the game I’m going to create.“Alex’s smile grew wider, his eyes burning with a fierce intensity. He was ready to unleash his revenge, and Ana was just the beginning.
As Alex’s smile faded, he dialed a number on his phone, his voice low and menacing. “It’s time to begin what we have planned. Make sure nothing goes wrong.”
With that, the car vanished into the darkness, leaving Ana feeling confused and uneasy. She stood there, frozen in uncertainty, as the reality of her situation slowly began to sink in.
Unbeknownst to Ana, she had just taken the first step into a twisted game of cat and mouse, one that would slowly consume her and destroy her completely. The trap had been set, and Ana was now firmly in its grasp.
Ana was caught in a web of deceit and revenge, with threads that stretched back to her darkest past. Her family, whose secrets and lies had destroyed her life, was now just one part of the complex trap that had been set for her.And then there was Alex, her enigmatic and menacing boss, whose true intentions were shrouded in mystery. Will Ana be able to survive in this game?or will she become a prey to Alex’s game? Will Nicholas encounter complicate her life even more?
