Summary

You’ll be fine entering the Chevalier manor, as long as you don’t drink the wine… The Chevaliers, a high society family that rarely makes social appearances if not when the sun has set, introduce a young caretaker, Daphne Perez, into their household. But the young lady is quick to discover that, as every family does, the Chevaliers have secrets that travel far beyond their poorly time-managed dinners and strange slumbers. As she embarks on her investigation, she’s captured by the classical music played at midnight by the lovesick but brilliant Lucille Chevalier. Note: this story focuses on more than one couple.

Introduction

Hello, how are you? This is the author of this story writing. If the little statement I wrote in the description of this book interested you enough to make it this far, thank you! I'm flattered. And if you're into queer vampires with that old-fashioned, enigmatic, timeless, vampiric-esque aesthetic, welcome! You've found the right place.

This is my attempt at writing an elegant vampire romance with implications of darkness and allure as well as the slightest bit of aristocratic charm and fascination for paranormal and supernatural activity. In shorter words: it's a gothic vampire romance.

Let me help you envision it with this if you are struggling: imagine vintage clothing, pale complexions, mystifying jewelry, eternal youth, cherry red lips, and because they're gay, a lot of intense gazes (they don't know how to communicate their feelings in any other way).

If you've never read about vampires or if you know very little about them, here are some of the basics of vampire life:

1. Vampires cannot be exposed to broad daylight as ashes will become them, but they can wear rings that protect them from the sun.

2. Vampires can only survive on blood. The creature they receive the blood from determines when they will need their next meal. For example: a vampire who drinks animal blood will grow hungry faster than a vampire who drinks human blood.

3. Vampires are the living dead. A person can be born a vampire or turned. They are turned when they are on the verge of death. This person would be called a "turned vampire" or "created vampire". However, vampires who are born so are referred to as "pureblood vampires".

4. Vampires possess supernatural abilities such as superhuman speed, strength, and agility as well as heightened senses. Also, vampires are blessed with one added supernatural ability that other vampires may not possess. (This is something that I've personally added myself).

5. Vampires are already dead, so they cannot die. However, they can be harmed or killed by a few exceptions such as garlic, sunlight, holy symbols, a wooden stake to the heart, or a stab of pure silver and/or iron. In this story, all of these dangers are portrayed as myths except for sunlight and pure silver (maybe a wooden stake to the heart too but we'll see where the plot takes me as I write).

6. Vampires are immortal. They are often dubbed as the undead. No matter how old they get, no matter how long eternity spans, they maintain the same youthful appearance.

Those are all the basics you need to know about vampires. There are a few things I will be adding to make my vampires a little more different than the standard. I would like to represent the depression, the romance, the darkness, and the passion of pleasure that comes with being a vampire and loving a vampire. I also took the opportunity to write a a fact about vampires in this book's universe. These vampire facts don't apply to real life or other works but only to my fictional work which you will find at the end of every chapter. Think of it as our special little tradition :))

Thank you for reading!
