Chapter 1

Chloe stood in the middle of the dark field, the soft breeze tousling her hair. Above her, the full moon bathed the world in silver light, making the grass shimmer like it was dusted with stars. She loved this—being alone with the night, the quiet stretching endlessly around her. The world felt at peace under the moon’s gaze. Just as she was starting to relax, the sound of footsteps broke the silence. She turned, startled, to see a guy approaching. He looked out of place in the stillness, his shadow tall and thin in the moonlight. "Hey," he called out, stopping a few feet away. "You mind if I hang out for a bit?" Chloe blinked. "I was just... enjoying the moon. It's kind of my thing," she said, unsure whether to be annoyed or curious. He shrugged, grinning. "I get that. The moon does have a way of making everything feel... different. I'm Matt, by the way."

"Chloe," she replied, reluctant but intrigued. The stranger’s calm demeanor felt oddly comforting. They stood there together in the quiet, watching the moon rise higher. The night no longer felt lonely, just... shared. Chloe realized the calm she’d sought wasn’t just in solitude, but in this unexpected, easy company. "So," Matt said after a while, "What’s so special about the full moon to you?" Chloe smiled. "It’s like everything falls into place when it’s here. It’s always the same, but always different." He nodded, clearly understanding. "I know what you mean. It’s like the world’s trying to tell you something." They stood in silence again, the kind that felt comfortable, before Matt spoke again. "I’ll let you get back to your moon-watching. But maybe I’ll see you out here again sometime?" "Maybe," Chloe said, a small smile tugging at her lips. As he walked away, Chloe looked up at the full moon, her thoughts lighter than they had been in a long time. The night, once solitary, had become a little less so, and she realized—some moments, you don’t have to experience alone to make them unforgettable.
