Chapter 1: Dystopian Future of 2100 AD

It is the year 2100 AD, and much of mankind has changed in terms of aging. A mysterious group of ruling elites known as the Ascendants have been responsible since the Final Great War to have changed the dynamics of human DNA. Instead of mankind aging at a regular pace, it was aging on the level of a common domestic dog. One such individual is about to learn the dreadful truth and his name is Finn Powers. Finn had lived his life in Los Angeles, growing up. Though most major cities were still recovering from the Final Great War, Finn was out and about on his day-to-day activities.

“Morning” said Finn as he waved to the mail carrier.

The mail carrier waved back to Finn as Finn strolled along the street. He didn’t seem to have a care in the world believing there were an elite known as the Ascendants controlling everything from behind the scenes. Finn typically worked as a factory worker in the assembly line. The factories had been around since the Final Great War for employment purposes. The foreman – Kenneth Barlett often forced workers to stay overtime to keep up with making various goods and other sort of items. Since the United States and most other countries lost much of their resources, it was Finn’s job to help ensure the assembly line would stay running properly.

“Morning boss” said Finn to Kenneth.

Kenneth didn’t seem to believe in any sort of conspiracy theories of the Ascendants at all. Like many other families after the Final Great War, they took in the idea of the new human DNA hoping it would improve the quality of the Earth. Kenneth liked the idea that Finn was always a willing participant in the workforce.

“Nice to see you are on time, tell the others to get in line” ordered Kenneth.

“You’re the boss” added Finn.

The other workers no doubt was not as keen as Finn was, there were always the troublemakers among the workforce willing to cause so much trouble. One of those such troublemakers was Thomas Grosvenor who always enjoyed goofing off. He would often pretend to be an elf working at Santa’s workshop just to past the time.

“Grosvenor, why do you have those elf ears on you?” asked Finn.

“Aw come on boss, I was just trying to pass the time,” said Thomas.

Thomas’ sister – Millie also worked the assembly line.

“Come on bro, you are hurting our image we could both be fired” added Millie.

Finn felt like he was at the factory all of his life, he never imagined his own living relative could be responsible for the post-war dystopia he was now living in. Back home, Finn’s mother – Helga was already aged to the level where she was now operated more like a grandmother than an actual mother. She was doing her best trying to support her son Finn. Not even she knew how extensive the Ascendants were as she was busy making Finn’s dinner. She received a text message from her in-law Professor Orion W. Powers.

“Hate to bother you, but can you make room for one more guest at the dinner table? It’s important I have to speak to Finn about this” said Professor Orion.

“You’re more than welcome to, it’s not every day we get to have a great elder at the table” replied Helga as she submitted the text message on her cellphone.

Little did she realize, Orion would be forced to tell the truth since the Ascendants were now going to go after him.
